Hey guys, i decided to come back to Hearthstone after summer of 2019, I think I stopped playing just before august expansion. I was playing pretty regularly, every day and I was really into meta, nerfs and everything else. Finally, my life calmed down and allows me to play again at least 2-3 games every day and I really want to come back to Hearthstone. I understand that the problem is standard now for me but I always enjoyed playing Wild anyway. and of course I also know that the best for me is to wait new hearthstone year and start building my collection (ready to spend money) from that new expansion so I will be "only" 3 expansions behind everyone and that with that logic when 2022 new year comes I will be up to date(my classic collection is pretty good, i have everything important). Just a few questions because I don't have the nerves to do research and game really changed a lot, more than in a few years i played it, before 08/2019. Some questions will be in a form of a sentence, which means i need clarification but it is easier for me to write in a "surprised" sentences.
1.I noticed quests don't award gold any more
2.what does 1000 wins give you( i had 500 on a few champions)
3.what is up with new cards in standard?
4.Strongest expansion from 2020, so maybe i get some packs from that expansion
5.Achiviments and everything are important or not
6.And tell me something else new or important that i haven't noticed yet
7.Some cheap average decks, maybe with little more classic cards? 8.Is classic important, when I quit the game a lot of decks were using classic but 2x times HoF since I left sooooo
Thank you very much guys, looking forward coming to this page every day like before.
1: Yup! now you get XP for playing time in all modes instead of 10/3 win and all is thrown together in your rewards track
2: A new portrait
3: What you mean? Power level? Demon Hunter?
4: Hmmm probably scholomance, but all are pretty good and support each class differently
5:Achivements are just for fun
6: I guess the xp system and battlepass are the really new things + Duels are all about DH, warlock and hunter and wasn't a big succes
7: Zoolock I guess. Control warrior is solid too and maybe you have bomb warrior cards? The first token DH is by far the cheapest mediocre deck I think
8: Not that much anymore. Warrior still runs the old control stuff but otherwise it's just a few cards
Thank you very much. Just for the 3. question. I opened few classic packs and some new cards were in there. And I noticed a new class. Can you tell me something about that.
I didn't quit the first time because of the game or the state of the game but because my life was getting pretty hectic. I was playing it for a few years and every day, EVERY DAY some will have your opinion and while I understand that was some bad metas( quest rogue, pirate warrior) i was always able to find few decks I like and have fun. It's a game for god sake, and It's a game that allows me to play and do other things(youtube, tv, working :D,...), unlike LeagueOfLegends or many other games.

Try Battlegrounds then. It's a new game mode in Hearthstone, way more fun and less stressful. I stopped playing constructed completely and I prefer Battlegrounds much more.
All of the new expansions have quite high power level, but it's hard to judge which is best, probably depends on the class you play. I'm not sure if this is still truth, but you can obtain Demon Hunter class by completing Trial by Felfire prologue.
The new class is rather aggro oriented, however with Soul Crystal package from Scholomance you may try something more contorl oriented. It's first class with 1 Mana Hero Power, which give +1 Attack for a turn. A bit like Druid, but do not give armor and costs less. It has many cards with strong synergy with your hero Power. It is widely considered a strong class, and it got its own haters. However, it got many nerfs through the year, so I'm not sure how it is good now. It has ability to flood board easily, as well as have sturdier minions available. It has good card draw and healing, as well as acces to good board clears. The only things it miss are buffs and strong removals, but it is usualy able to deal with strong minions using minions and own attack. It has a lot moresupport for increasing attack of your hero than any other class, and may oftenly have more than 10. It also has a new keyword: outcast, which allow your cards to have extra effects if they were leftmost or rightmost in your hand when played.
I hope I summarized it well, and if anybody do not agree with something I said, feel free to correct me, I'm not a pro.
Also, you should check out Priest's basic and classic set, it got many changes.
The current HS year had a lot of new things, so I'd like to give you an overview of everything that happend in the last 10 months.
1. The first ever new class, the Deamonhunter. You can unlock it together with a free 30 deck by playing the Ashes out Outland prologue missions. The class specilises on flooting the board and sacrificing them to empower other cards (like Feast of Souls). It also has support for an Big Deamon archetype (like Pit Commander), has acces to a lot of bust damage and has some healing (aldrachi warblades) and AoE (Chaos Nova) options. The 1 mana gain 1 damage HP is also incredible flexable. On of the biggest weaknisses of DHs are that they cannot deal with big minions without hitting them with either their Face or trading some minions. It also completely relies on Carddraw and has almost no acces to card generation which results in them fatiquing fast than other classes. Did I also mentioned that they got their own Keyword? Well, now I did. It's called outcast and has a powerfull effect if the card was either played from the most left or right side of your hand. Skull of Guldan is probably the most powerfull of them
2. Duplicate protection for all rarities. Preatty self explanatory. It's important to keep in mind that cards that you disenchanted still counts as "owned" to preveant easy dust farm after nerfs. The protection also works for each rarity seperately, so you don't start open only epics if you have all common and rare cards.
3. Free new/returning player deck. I don't know if you claimed it already, but new and returning players get a fleshed out deck of their choice for free once they finished the (new) apprentice ranks were you only play against new and returning players.
4.Ranked rework. The rank mode now ranges from Bronze 10 to diamond 1 to legend (each rank now only requires 3 wins) . They greately increased the rewards and reset you now back to bronze 10 every season. You also gain an start multiplyer based on your old rank (up to 11) that decays every 5 ranks.
5. Priest got a rework which removed its burst combos (Divine spirit and Velen to be specific) and replaced them with more controll and tempo oriented cards. Priest also got an AoE in its base kit and had many balance changes for his base and classic cards.
6. New Game mode. On Blizzcon 2019 they introduced the Battlegrounds gamemode which is based on the Auto chess genre. The mode still gets constant updates and is probably the 2. most played gamemode after ranked. Last year they also introduced the Duels gamemode which is basically a PvP version of the Dungeon run solo modes. You pick a class, one of the 3 Hero Powers and 1 of the 6 Signature treasures and start building your 15 cards deck. After each win you add more cards to your deck and can choose between powerfull passive and active Treasures. The game ends after 12 wins or 3 losses. You can either play it for free, or pay the normal Arena price to get rewards based on your win.
7. Econemy rework. They replaced the Quests give gold system with the Reward Track which resets every Expansion. You gain Xp from either completing the normal or weekly quests or by just playing the game. The reward track was critized a lot when they first introduced it because Blizzard hadn't properly communicated that Event Xp are supposed to make out 20% of the total XP you get each expansion and played thought they are a gaining less rewards then before. Blizzard then decided that the players are right and that the reward track should be good on its own and should not rely as much on events as Blizzard planed, so they integrated that event XP into the Reward Track. You now get around 20% more gold and non gold rewards than before.
8. Here is a quick overview of each Expansion you missed:
Descent of Dragons: DoD was the climatic final of the Year of the Dragon Stories. E.V.I.L used Thekan in Uldum to unleash the plaque of Undead. They brought it to Northrend and reanimated the proto drake Galakrond. Gameplay wise each of the E.V.I.L classes got their own Galakrond that could be impowered by the new Keyword invoke. Invoke Triggers Galakronds HP for your and upgrades it after 2 and 4 invokes. Each class also got powerfull, mostly well known Dragons like a third Deathwing. Oh, and I guess the good classes also got Sidequests, which are like regular quests, but are easier to complete, don't start in your hand and have a more minor reward.
The Solo Adventure Galakronds awakening was the comeback of "classic" Adventure with 35 new cards. You could also play the Stories from both the E.V.I.L and explorers side. It also confirmed and old fan theory that appeared after the Karazhan trailer.
Ashes of Outland: Story wise Mecha Jarraxxus (yes, I'm talking about the Boomsday skin) is going through Outland and is putting weapons on every deamon he finds and recruits them for his rusted legion. The expansion was greately overshadowed by the Deamonhunter release which was so broken that Blizzard nerfed the class in less than 24 hours after the release through a server side Hotfix. Outland itself brought back the Dormant Keyword with cards like Imprisoned Antean. Each of the 9 original classes also got a Prime legendary which are mediocer cards, but shuffle an greately improved upgraded version of them into your deck. The PvE mode focused on Elise Starseekers Sister Aranna and how she beacame a Deamonhunter to defeat the rusted Legion.
Scholomance Academy: Scholomance academy is more lighthearted and was an Horry Potter like magic school expansion. It introduced Dual cards (cards that can be played by two classes) and the Spellburst Keyword which is one of the communites favorites. Spellburst is a one time effect that triggers after you cast a spell (Headmaster Kel'thuzad for Example). Deamohunter and warlock specificely also got Soulshard synergy. Some cards can shuffle soulshards into your deck that restores 2 health when you draw them, but you can also sacrifice them with other cards to boost them. It was a fun expansion and an mostly healthy meta game.
The Solo mode book of heroes is a bit of an controversal one, but I really likes them. The mode was made to explain the backstories of the original 9 Heroes and Illidan. You replay key events of their past to learn their past, that's also why the mode is so dialogue heavy. People critized it for its gameplay, but if you just see it as an interactive book it is preatty fun.
The last Expansion Madness at the Darkmoon faire was teased for a long time and marked the return of the old golds. I absolutely love the theme and trailer. The new Keyword corrupt upgrades a card after you played with a higher cost (like Tickatus) and the old gods, while sadly currently underperforming, are really fun to play. C'thun, the Shattered is basically Exodia XD
As for the solo Adventure, there sadly is non this time. It seems like they currently put the the new Solo adventures on Ice and instead release one new book of heroes story every month. Instead we will be getting a mini expansion (this week accoarding to a leak) which contains 35 new cards and will be put into the Madness at the Darkmoon Packs. Accoarding to a leak we will also be able to buy all the 35 cards for 2000 gold or 15$.
Puh, that was a lot, but that was basically everything you missed.

The majority, but those from duels and the latest expansion grant experience and collecting all cards of an expansion grants a new skin for the coin.
