One reason aggro and tempo decks are so dominant is because it's fast to climb through the ranking system with them. I can accept that, even if I hate it because I haaaaate fast decks.
That got me thinking, though, and I want to come up with some kind of solution that makes people WANT to play slow and greedy decks.
How about the longer a game goes on, the more stars you earn on a win? Say a game goes to round 10 = 2 stars, round 15 = 3 stars, round 20 = 4 stars. Would that be a good solution? That incentives people to play slow decks and makes them able to rank up fast as well.
I’m a midrange player most of the time . Aggro decks are essential to balance/diversity in the game . Every game can’t last 30mins it would just be awful. Plus there are certain classes that can generate more value than others (bordering on infinite) meaning one would come out on top and be the new cancer anyway. The incentive to play aggro is to counter control ( midrange ? I forget ) and there should be a balanced rock , paper , scissors type effect where the meta evolves to counter itself . This is the general appeal of the game for me , ever changing strategies built from a common box of tools . I understand your frustrations . The current system of experience gain is flawed . I’ve been playing since gvg and there have always been “cancerous” decks . However incentivising one style of play will only strangle diversity . Aiming for better balance is key .

if u play right with a slow deck ur deck can surpass fast decks and the games will not be so fast anymore. Learn HTP
I’ll agree with you that Blizzard completely dropped the ball as far as making control appealing to play this expansion. It’s obvious that they intended for control archetypes to work because of cards like the new Old Gods with big late game payoffs, but hardly anyone cares when you can just play face hunter (which has been around for almost a year) and get better win rates. There is definitely a widespread issue because the last time I remember control being truly relevant was the Boomsday meta. However, I don’t know if star incentives would help the issue. Evolve Shaman/Aggro DH can end games by turn 4 or 5, so basically 4 minutes of their time. They will not bother with a small rank bonus when they can get multiple wins and streaks in the time that they would potentially earn it.
Not a good idea because people will rope on purpose. This and the fact that slow decks are usually expensive and most people being free 2 play means there will always be fast decks in this game.

When the meta was 50% aggro DH, I sky rocketed with control warrior. The more aggro decks, the better you'll climb with control decks, at least if you stick to the good old manners of either out tempoing or out playing. The games won't be super long thou, and you won't win with being greedy, but rather by being defensive. Greedy decks seem to cause auto concede, so maybe you are wishing for something that you won't like in the end. I get your point, but the new XP system has at least given control decks a lot more bang for the buck. Maybe this is a step too far?

Ah yes fatigue rope meta sounds much preferable

People already rope no matter what blizzard does
