Because if you play warrior you can actually tank the great majority of combo decks, but if they mill your own win condition you just straight up lose. *cries in Dead man's hand warrior main*
Warlock is completely bullshit at least for me at top diamond. I cannot kill him with priest nor mage. 0 cost - 17 heals during the game. AOE spells to clear the board 24/7. Then you lose 15 cards(1/2 of the whole deck) to Tickatus if you are super unlucky or 10 cards(1/3 of the whole deck). And of course by playing fricking Y'Shaarj, the Defiler you not only get your Tickatus back for free you also get Cascading Disaster for free to clear rest of the hand.
I mean I would be more than happy to lose just those 5 cards every single game - even this would mess with my deck like every third game, that I could not win anymore. But losing 10-15 cards and there is not much you can do about it. Yes, I know you can go some senseless aggro decks, but that is just plain boring.

Your problem is playing mage and priest. I love those two classes, but they are complete garbage right now. It’s an aggro meta and priest can’t manage to keep up with wriggling horror because priest doesn’t have a 3 health aoe until turn 7 and then maybe... Try combo rogue, it’s not nearly as brainless as face hunter and even after Edwin, it’s still strong. Shaman is actually the best class for control right now if you wanted to go that route, but again, tickatus can burn out your medics, yshaarj or Cthun pieces.

Couldn't agree more! Quest shaman vs tickatus is actually rather fun, cause you have to mulligan very differently and try to apply early pressure in order to burst with just two good battle cries. You should win about 55-60% of the games. Bomb warrior slays tickatus decks, but I suppose highlander mage would do ok, if that's more you. I think there are quiet a few slow midrange and swing based control decks that will have about 50% wr against tick, Priest is a wild class

In control vs control matchup you usually want to beat your opponent with value. Yet since Warlock's class cards sucked for like last 3 years, you could not outvalue anyone. Now though... in fact, you still can't! The trick is that Tickatus allows you to destroy enemy's value, giving you an advantage in this wicked way (I'm not even kidding).
Is it unfun to play against? Yes, but blame Blizzard for not being able to make Control Warlock viable without such BS card. At this point nerfing Tickatus in any way means to kill Control Warlock as well.
Right, I've won many times against Tickatus, yet I tilt every time I see a warlock that doesn't play Zoo. I tilt cause my opponent is playing a crappy boring tactic, a strategy which is exceptionally easy to win against and yet completely impossible to beat if they luck out. Kinda like druids back in Scholomance with ramp into Ysera, Unleashed strat. Or if your memory stretches that far, like playing against freeze mages back when iceblock was a thing. The problem is, it is boring if you can't engage in the game.
I wish Tickatus didn't exist. Guys trust me on this, Tickatus is bad, every aggro encounter is a lost case. If you like winning consider playing something else, if you just want a control backstabber deck, consider playing OTK decks but... If making people grief to the threshhold of quitting playing hearthstone is your cup of tea then, by all means, you found the perfect strategy.
People have such messed up perceptions of card power in HS. I feel like fewer people would complain about Tickatus if it said "deal 15 damage to your opponent."
Like, seriously. People mad that a few cards they haven't even drawn get destroyed... in a meta where multiple decks can outright kill you on turn 7. You know what stops you from drawing more than 5-10 cards in a game? Dying on turn 7.
They'd rather lose a game on turn 7 after drawing 9 of their 30 cards, than win a game where they drew 20 of their 30 cards, just because they saw 10 of those cards burn up.
If Tickatus said "put the top 5 cards of your opponent's deck on the bottom of their deck" would anyone care? Because in any game that doesn't actually go deep, that's what it effectively does.
First it’s not a joke. I’m assuming you are a warlock Tickatus player so I understand why you are defending it. Not everybody faces aggressive zoolocks, rogues or DH. I think the game matches you differently. You say that Thijs can beat gala warlocks but he does not represent the casual or normal player. Not everybody is a pro player.
My argument was for us players that play Control or combo decks. There is no deny that Tickatus as of now, is a problem for control and combo decks now and in future expansions.
BTW, I play standard. I don’t know about wild.
Unfortunately you can’t balance a game around the casual player base, because you will completely unbalance the game at a competitive/professional level. If a card appears overpowered, but is countered by more skilful play, nerfing it is not the correct decision.
Tickatus is an awkward card for some decks to deal with, but if you do the maths, it isn’t remotely favoured to cause an auto-win against most of the current combo decks. This is due to the fact that most of these decks are free to run multiple copies of the majority of their combo pieces, while hitting the key legendary (which you would absolutely keep in your mulligan against Warlock if you had it) is 1 in 3 at best assuming you can play Tickatus twice before 20 cards are drawn, which is not guaranteed.
If you’re laddering with a control deck that’s designed to win the game by grinding your opponent out, and Tickatus Warlocks are popular at your elo, PUT ELYSIANA IN THE DECK. Once again the Warlock is no better than 1 in 3 to mill her and she completely negates 2x Tickatus, so if your deck has an inherent weakness to having its cards milled, maybe fucking tech against it.
There’s so much wrong with this argument that it’s hard to know where to start.
Tickatus will win most games vs Control not only because of his effect, but because players are forced to slow down due to all the removal Warlocks have. The natural thought is to Aggro them and to out tempo them, since Tickatus fails against Aggro, right? Wrong. As soon as you flood the board, Warlock plays one of their 20 removal spells and wipes out your board. 2x Cascading Disasters, 2x Dark Skies, 2x Twisting Nether, etc. They all force Aggro back long enough for them to bust out Tickatus at LEAST TWICE. Most times Tickatus is played 2-3 times against me, destroying any tech or answers I had to it.
I often play Double Battlecry Shaman cuz it’s both fun and can generate tons of value and answers, but even with the added tech, Tickatus consistently mills 15-20 cards from my deck. I already run C’thun (double C’thun battlecry is fun) mainly because it’s 5 extra buffer cards against Tickatus, and I also run 2x Portal Keeper just to fill my deck with extra cards just to dilute Tickatus burn. Even with 5 C’thun pieces in my deck and 6x Portal Tokens in my deck, I STILL GOT MY WHOLE DECK BURNED. Yep, I had Tickatus played against me FOUR times Thanks to copying at 4 Cost with Felosophy, then Y’sharji for two more.
And don’t even get me started on how unhelpful and awful Elysiana is. Assuming you don’t have it milled which is a major possibility, she gives you often the WORST choices to discover. Often just neutral hand. I get better choices from Arena Drafts most times. How am I supposed to make a comeback when a typical list of choices from one discover pick are:
- Magma Rager
- Desert Obelisk
- Coldlight Oracle
Ok, you tell me how you’re going to make a comeback with Elysiana when you get 5 separate options that have similar choices. Elysiana is trash most times. Getting rid of your best cards and replacing them with jank is no way to win.
Tickatus is a major problem. It’s too easy to reduce its cost and copy it and play it multiple times. Plus there’s no way to outpace Warlock with its endless supply of board control.

Well, no that's not what he actually does. he destroys the cards, which is precisely the problem people have, because it ruins a lot of control games. Lots of people actually like playing decks where the game isn't over on turn 7, and when they finally get the chance to play against something else than aggro, well they play a control match where the opponent just destroys 10 cards and wins just because of that.
The problem with Tickatus is that with just 2 cards (tick + y'shaarj) you can single-handedly win a lot of control matchups while your opponent gets no real shot at winning. It's like a hero card that generates infinite value, you can win a lot of control matchups with just this card, except it's actually way better because :
-It's not a tempo loss, especially the second one with y'shaarj
-It can win you games againt combo decks
-It can come out as soon as turn 8, and randomly discard cards so important the game is over as fast as an aggro matchup, making it sometimes super powerful and frustrating.
-It can ruin techs that you mentioned against it. Elysianna isn't a reliable solution, because by design of Tickatus it can be discarded by Tickatus. So it's pretty funny when a totally fun and interactive card can counter its own supposed counter. Kind of like if you printed a well stated weapon with battlecry : destroy all oozes and stickyfingers in your opponent's hand or deck.
People reclaim for this card to be nerfed / deleted because on top of it being extremely unfun, it's also reliable an not "just a meme card". Also, i don't know about people saying Tickatus isn't in every warlock deck, every warlock deck that isn't zoo runs Tickatus, be it C'thun, Rustwix, Galakrond, Rustwix-Galakrond, or just the pure degeneracy of felosophy tickatus lock. It's omnipresent any time you face a non-aggro warlock, and it ruins so many matchups where you could have a little control fun that yeah, people complain about it.

Okay, first of all, control warlock has one of the worst win rates of all the archetypes currently being run on ladder. It is not "reliable" and Tickatus will not "single-handedly" win you control matchups. It takes more than two cards to work -- you have to reliably draw it first (since it's a one-of Legendary), in which case you're often using Sense Demons or Free Admission to get it into your hand, maybe Plot Twist. Then you need to corrupt it with a 7-cost card, most likely Twisting Nether.
That's a six-card package dedicated primarily to destroying 5 cards in your opponent's deck before they draw them. You can toss in Y'Shaarj to sometimes bump it up to 10. In rare situations you might be able to burn 15 by duplicating or discovering Tickatus, and sometimes you might get a discounted 4 mana Tickatus, but those are edge cases.
Now, keep in mind that there are far more powerful minions in this game that can destroy more than 5 cards when they hit the board. The difference is only where the cards are. The only thing that makes Tickatus powerful is that it can (occasionally) snipe cards that are otherwise protected by being in your hand or deck, which can give it a slight edge in some control and OTK matchups (though even then the win ratio isn't crazy).
When I see people complain about Tickatus, all I see is someone whining that there's a deck with some bullshit that can counter their own deck's bullshit. As if a deck that just draws and stalls until it can deal 24+ damage in a single turn isn't bullshit, or that there shouldn't be some way to counter it other than to kill first or heal out of lethal range.
There's nothing about Tickatus that is more broken or degenerate than any other big powerful legendary that swings or wins the game. In fact, there are lots of cards that swing more and win harder. That's why the deck doesn't have a positive win rate.
Like I said, people complain because they watch 5-10 cards they want to use go poof, but don't even stop to consider that if they were playing against a different deck, instead of losing some cards to Tickatus they'd be facing some other big 8-10 mana turn which in all likelihood is going to kill them outright.
It's all misperception. Seriously, change Tickatus' battlecry to deal 15 damage, allowing the same combo to kill the opponent over two turns, and all these people complaining about burnt cards would just be like, "well you just need to save healing for after the first Tickatus turn."
Tickatus is only good because is run in the same deck than 5 mana: put 3 cards that are not supposed to be easy to put in any deck (Primes) of whatever class. That is the reason why control cant beat "Tickatus" control on the long run. Is not Tickatus or even Y´shaarj with his 2 destroy 3 minions. Is Rustwix.
Tickatus is a unique card design. We all agree about that, basically every mill card or disruptive card before. The thing that makes tickatus have alot more popularity (in community, even though its rarely seen in game), is the number of the cards that get milled.
Most of disruptor card only disrupt 1 card, and mostly disrupt from hand which means you can play around by protecting it (ie. dirty rat, demonic project, etc) or play inefficiently just because you foresee your opponent play. Tickatus targetting your deck in mid-game with a very abundant amount (10 cards in average). While Rin, usually only burn less than 5 cards because you can only play it in very late game.
This makes Tickatus absurdly strong card without much of a setup.
But still, we don't see tickatus much in game. Just admit it, wild or standard, tickatus is not seen a lot and still quite easy to beat unless your deck is straight forward a fatigue-control deck.
Why? Because mill strategy is rarely works in hearthstone. The only real mill strategy that works is Mill Rogue. And thats sole reason is because coldlight oracle actually makes the opponent drawn deeper to fatigue damage after all his card burned.
So what people rant about tickatus is more likely the feeling.. the emotional thing.. the traumatic punch hits on your heart when your opponent plays it. Because you see those cards on your deck turned into ashes when you wish to play it.
Tickatus's deck power level is balance now because in warlock, mill/burn can't win you a game (fatigue in other hand, yes). A lot of 'Normal' player who expected to face Tickatus play will drop as much threat as possible every turn after Twisting Nether/Soulcioligist to prevent easy tick turn.
So, my conclusion is.. Tickatus is balance in today meta because warlock doesn't have real tools to abuse that mill strategy like how Mill Rogue in wild is. But Tickatus as a single card is indeed strong and over the edge.
Nerf doesn't needed because nerf only targeted the key card of over-performing deck. Not the single strong card.
This card sucks so fucking much, it’s a waste of lifetime if your playing a control deck, just insta concede
It’s wayyyyyy to easy to acitvate.
6 Mana 8/8 destroy 5 fucking cards just because you played one card with higher costs? it’s just a six mana card, lol !? and you can reduce it’s cost cause it’s a demon.
The Mindrender Ilucia Nerf was just a joke, a 3 Mana 1/3 wich can backfire so fucking hard vs a 6 Mana 8/8 wich destroys 30% of your opponenta deck...twice.
Who taught you math?

If you lose to tickatus you're playing a retarded otk deck and deserved it.
If you lose and tilt to tickatus as a control or aggro player, just quit Hearthstone.
