I used to play hearthstone for over 3 years until mid-2019. Yesterday I logged in and saw quite a few big changed in the core game mechanics, including a remade economy and a new game mode. So I have a few questions:
Could anyone write a quick recap of the major changes in the past year and a half?
I see a lot of single-player content. Is any of it worth spending gold on at this point?
I am now quite busy and won't have more than a few hours a week to play, and gonna be quite casual overall. Is the new economy still f2p viable?
Ouch, so much has happened I literally don't know how to start such a recap.
Just explore the game modes and single player content. Battlegrounds probably has the most appeal, but don't buy the perks until you know it is for you after 10+ runs and watching some twitch streams.

Quick recap?
Okies...
“Play this card and it burns the top card of your opponents deck”
”Play this card to transform all minions on the board into different ones”
”Play this card to swap the top card of your deck with your opponents”
“Play this card to make your opponent draw 8 cards”
”Play this card to make everything disappear...as if it never existed. Cast a random spell next time that might kill you”
”Play this card to maybe have a go at killing one of you. One of you will be dead, we just don’t know who”
etc. etc.
Wish I was joking too!

Run away as fast as you can. The game has become an RNG simulator and cash grab.
