I'm doing exactly the same thing. I have send friend requests that some have accepted.
No one figure it out!! So, I'm pretty sure it's hard to figured it out for the average HS player (I already know that there is no statistical significance to say something) .
Anyway, mho is that an achievement must be achievable, maybe I'm wrong.
In my POV if you try to get it again and again, you should get closer of getting it, either because practice has improved your skill related to achieving it, or because of the fact of learning about the task you are doing. Obviously this is not the case.
I think the bigger issue is people arent very intelligent. I tried playing with Lorewalker Cho and GIVING them Oh My Yogg right before death, they STILL dont even try.

Intelligence has nothing to do with it. 99% of the players probably don’t even know this achievement exists, while the other 1% don’t care if the opponent gets it or not.

That literally is what intelligence is... Unbelievable this response is considered an adequate answer in some peoples mind. Not knowing something exists but understanding there is a bigger picture is a part of what intelligence is, you know,,, deduction? Sometimes people figure out answers to questions they didn't even know existed. People on forums want to be politically correct and act as if certain people arent more intelligent than others.
The only way your opponent would help with this achievement is if blizzard announces, that the both players completing this achievement would get free mega bundles for the rest of 2021. Most humans are inherently selfish and would only assist if they benefit greatly or more than the other person, occasionally you would stumble upon the person who was evolved past that primitive way of thinking ( normally someone who has a happy life and surrounded by people they love) that will gladly help.

Ignorance of something (in this case a niche achievement in an online card game) is not a reflection of someone’s intelligence. That is an insane conclusion to arrive at. You would have to be very delusional to come to the conclusion that you are more intelligent than someone else because they don’t know or care about your pointless Hearthstone achievements.
