This is another case of Descent of Dragons, where hyper aggro completely overshadows the cool, flashy stuff that's the core of the expansion - dragons for Descent and Old Gods for Darkmoon. And even if control has any chance after nerfs/mini set/rotation, good luck - Tickatus is a card.
The cards in this deck have been a lot more interesting than I expected. I've built quite a few decks I've had fun with (don't confuse fun with winning). They might as well not have printed a third of the expansion though after creating tickatus. Survival of the fittest feels even worse to play against now too.
I think Tickatus is the main problem. It forces people to play aggro.
As if no one played aggro before Tickatus. The problem is that control didn't receive any support this expansion contrary too DH. After trying various control decks all over the weekend only control warrior got slightly positive winrate vs soul DH (53%). While removing Tictatus would help control a bit (no hard counter) it won't stop DH (or evolve shaman).
The last time I felt genuine fun playing Hearthstone was like propably RoS. Most of the expansions are just play all day first 3 days of expansion. Then start grinding gold when new expansion is announced and so on.
But the ''fan favorite'' company Blizzard doesnt even let us grind for gold anymore.
I mean honestly when I think about the old days I get genuinely sad. Can you guys remember how fun Old Gods zoo warlock was? Or racing against your oppodent to build a huge C'Thun and just bam-bam-bam em in the face? Remember waiting for the RNG drop when your Piloted Shredder dies? Dr 7? 4 mana 7/7 memes? Kibler burning the Warlock DK? And the laughs...THE BEN BRODE GODDAMN LAUGHS. The compilationben brode laugh compilation videos on youtube after a card reveal stream was released? Disguised Toast actually being disguised? Frodan? Evolve madness? Freeze Shaman OMEGALUL? Old Yogg?
If Hearthstone would go 4 years back, it would be 4x fun.
I honestly think that the meta will allow a few very decent control decks. Priest, Shaman, Warrior and even Warlock can find a spot. But yeah imo Tickatus is the problem.
I don't agree with you OP, I hated the last expansion and this one to be much more interesting. I've already been experimenting with so many fun and new deck ideas. Of course the only problem is everyone else I match just uses the same few top tier decks, but that's been the case since this game was invented. People will never stop using the best, easiest and cheapest netdecks.
Weapons are crucial for Warrior, DH, Shaman, Paladin - the most popular classes right now. We even have weapon resurrection card. Yet anti-weapon cards are so bad even in this meta, they are rarely played.
Its funny how in 3 games versus Tickatus I managed to dirty rat Tickatus twise, and you can be happy of putting enemy 8/8 on board lol. If I would put 8/8 giant on board it would suck.
At third game the Tickatus hit bad against me and I devolved it (because idea of raise dead). devolve was good because Tickatus is cheap, but Y'shaar created it again for anothet Tickatus attack.
I think Tickatus is the main problem. It forces people to play aggro.
Are you being serious? Tickatus decks are complete garbage and it's not like they're bad only because they lose to aggro. Aggro will always be the largest part of the meta (ONE meta in 6 years wasn't aggro-centred, think about that, just one) because A) it's quicker to climb the ladder with and B) it's cheaper (which is even more important now that we get mini-expansions, fewer rewards and less gold). If you're a new player (no idea why anyone would be at this point, but let's hypothetise) you can play either soul dh or aggro dh as they're by far the cheapest best decks on ladder.
This expansion is better undoubtedly, there are so many deck variations and the new cards are really fun. My only qualm currently is the strength of aggro and how prevalent it is to face on both ladder and casual.
Tickatus ruins games against warlock. If they're not zoo, they very likely have the card and the threat of losing most of your deck ruins the fun that could be had. If I play warlock against another warlock I feel like I can't possibly win unless I have Tickatus, and then whoever play it first wins/has fun.
Dirty Rat and Hecklebot don't really counter it because it's a freaking 8/8 in stats. Not only that, Raise Dead and Zola the Gorgon might allow them to get Tick back to the hand. Either way, the fun is gone.
Even in YouTube videos where the warlock is losing, games are less fun when the win condition you built your deck around is randomly discarded, your strategy is nullified and the Tickatus player doesn't have to strategize either.
There are many ways to make Tickatus a fun card, like discarding 5 cards but gaining +1/1 for the combined mana discarded.
This is only me?
Not really. I pretty much sat out the last expansion. I at least gave Tickatus a try this one. I didn't really do anything last time.
I think the old gods alone put this above. And I kinda like the corrupted keyword. I wouldn't mind if it stuck around, but it probably wont.
Galavant Animation
Im mostly playing because i want the rewards.
The fun isnt there anymore.
DemonHunter ruin the ladder
Play Control warrior. Obliterate DH

Aggro is very strong so probably a nerf can help to diverse the meta,
the main candidates: Hunter, DH, Paladin.

All I seem to face is aggro (dh, paladin, shaman) all kids running the same boring net decks with 85% of cards from the last expansion

Tickatus isn't fun or interactive
