I am a regular ranked game player. I don't like and don't do other game modes.
With the new system, however, I have to spend time doing modes for the quests if I want to keep up with the progression. I find this outmost annoying and boring.
I feel like I am forced to do stuff I don't want to a lot more than I used to, because rerolling quests is now a lot more punishing, especially the weekly ones.
While I do somewhat agree that Blizzard shouldn't mix the game modes, there is also a big part of Hearthstone players, who play mostly Battlegrounds. In the previous system, these players were not awarded at all and now at least they get some quests so they can also progress in the reward track. IMO they should make separate tracks for all game modes though.
You can reroll quests. If you still don't like the ones you get afterwards, then just wait for the next day to reroll it again. You don't have to complete every single quest every day.
Rather than trying to forcing people to play game modes they should have just made the quests multifaceted, or even choose what game mode you want the quest to be for. I've got a duels one I can't clear and I have no interest in doing it, especially as I have to win rather than just play a game.
Reroll the quests? This is really common and the argument could be made for achievement hunters who don't want to touch a single player campaign but achievements are within this content. They could just as easily say "I'm being forced to do content I don't want to do or otherwise I can't get a platinum trophy" etc. There will be tons of similar examples.
They need to cater to as much of the player base as possible, whilst it also being a reasonable thing to try and poke people towards other modes to increase their engagement levels.
Not everything HAS to cater to YOU specifically. I have a quest to finish top 2 in BG 4 times or whatever it is. I won't do that, I don't play BG at all. For some people that's a bread and butter quest.
I'll reroll mine but other people may well think 'screw it, I'll give BG a go', find they really enjoy it and start also engaging with that part of the game. Of course the devs will want to direct towards that, it's like how so many shops add little aisles of junk at the checkout. No, it's not stuff you went in for or intended on buying but if 1 in 10 people spot something and grab it, then that's great for the business.
Businesses are constantly wanting you to engage in more of their product, whether that's your time or money. This isn't unique to HS at all.
They aren't giving you quests for anything you cannot access.

Thank you Blizzard

You can reroll weekly quests every day. I never have to play BGs
Tickatus isn't fun or interactive
You can't reroll the 2500XP win 7 Ranked games one though.
Some people don't play Ranked at all.
And now they're getting punished for no reason.
