I am not now nor have I ever been affiliated in any paid capacity by blizzard as an employee, shill, or stooge nor am I a drone who believes they do no evil (their balance and playtesting is horrible) but I can categorically say that the hearthstone community is one of the most ungrateful and idiotically naive I have had the displeasure of being associated with and I'm including all the blatantly pandering content creators who have lambasted the system to gain favour with the seething masses and benefit from the mob mentality.
The fact of the matter is if you are a f2p player who spends very little time playing hearthstone then you are not a priority for Blizzard and they will never care about you and nor should they and to complain about a product that costs you nothing and is something you don't even give a decent amount of your time too is a shitty thing to do.
You are the kind of asshole who comes into a cafe orders the cheapest possible drink only because you have too and then proceeds to bitch and moan when they change the chairs they use or the decor they had. I don't understand your mentality you don't play the game except to do daily quests you don't spend money on the game, so your not contributing capital as a resource for future development and you barely contribute in any real way to community stats for amazing community tools like meta statistics nor do you contribute ideas or innovation in deck building, in fact, reviewing most f2p strategies (brain dead face decks aka finger swipe simulators) you detract from the player experience of those players blizzard does consider a priority the people who contribute to their game like people who pay money and people who pay with their time and effort
You have the gall to complain about a system that now rewards people who play the game more and those who spend money all the while contributing nothing more than a useless player statistic, get over yourself say thank you for the fact they develop new expansions and for the love of god either get a job or become a core player that at least contributes usable player based information by playing longer and enjoying the game rather than treating it like a god damn job.
I used to be a whale but now I will buy one pre-purchase pack every other expansion and play only at the weekends when I'm not working so I myself contribute very little to blizzard and will never expect them to pander to me or my meagre impact on the game because quite frankly from a business perspective I'm not worth their time or effort. To those of you who do support Hearthstone in major ways either with a considerable amount of time allowing blizzard to create usable reports and stats for future expansion development or with a consistent income, I thank you and truly appreciate that you keep the game I love/loved (balance really needs a look) going.
TLDR - You deserve nothing because you contribute nothing

Post was Warned for Flaming: Calling people Assholes.
I've bought the last 6 expansions but you're wrong I'm afraid. Without F2P I can't imagine how small the player base would be and the game would pretty much die. To be healthy the game needs a balance of both F2P and people putting money in. Blizzard might not benefit financially directly from F2P but if paying customers are waiting 5 minutes+ for a game they'll soon stop paying and playing. Unless you want HS to go the way of Artifact?

U do realise that w/o f2p guys game would die faster than Artifact ? And u too are a sheep for not realising that everyone getts less now.
F2p is fine if they put in the time but the people I am talking about barely play except to complete daily quests and then play very little on top of that there are people who pay 0$ but are incredibly valuable because they invest their time, knowledge and gifts to the game. So I am not railing against f2p per say but more the people that play this game like a efficiency exercise contributing nothing in terms of a consistent play time but still expect blizzard to cater to them.
I appreciate what you're saying. It seems some F2P players are very entitled. I also think that a lot of F2P players are maybe young people who don't really understand how the world and capatalism works. Plus in the bubble of hearthpwn there are plenty of keyboard warriors who will get a rude awakening when they experience life for real when they move out of their parents basement. I've loved HS but if I'm being honest it worries me the direction Blizz is taking the game and I'm thinking this might be my last expansion, but at the end of the day it's a game. There are plenty of better things to worry about.
you see... from what i read it seems you miss out on the core issue here, and correct me if im wrong. if you actually bring out some arguments instead of being toxic i'll reply to you.
im a semi p2w, meaning i only bought 2 preorders in my life, but i ocassionally buy packs, adventures, bundles and so on. i have 12 decks, all of them custom made on 5 different classes, enjoying all of them. but do you know just how much money i had to spend on the game to reach this point? plenty,my friends. im no whale, but if i tell anyone the sum, they'd think im nuts.
so as much as i agree that f2p's shouldn't complain about how and when they get free stuff when they don't pay a dime to support the free digital content they enjoy, the main problem is how people who DO spend money on the game are treated.
you spend a literal AAA game's price on each preorder, and most of the time you get like... 5-6 legendaries? more if lucky? you dont even have half of the expansion most of the time. instead of paying for a AAA title, i purchase digital cards from a collection/expansion with these money, and i dont even have AT LEAST half of it (i think you should have about 70-80% of the expansion if you get the megabundles)
TL;DR: To quote Solem in his recent video, the game isnt p2w. its pay to have fun. anyone can smack together some aggro deck and call it a day with like 1200 dust. but to make a deck you actually find fun and engaging, aka with plenty of epics and legendaries? waaaay more.

TLDR - You deserve nothing because you contribute nothing
You knoiw, that you should spent money to get what you need, absolutely right.
But getting almost nothing for 120 bucks preorder, then a bad new system, that is wrong, and that happened massively this time. SOlem's video was insane, 120 preorder packs, 5 legendaries, it's disgusting.
Some great points raised so far just to clarify my position I definitely think the game is too expensive the fact that 60 pounds doesn't guarantee an expansion in full is kind of ridiculous and one of the contributing factors to me pulling back on the money i spend on the game because if you don't agree with a companies pricing you shouldn't continue supporting it to the same level and with the new mini expansions I may reduce my spending further I'm holding off on this until i see how much more value i earn from the new reward track throughout the full expansion before i make that decision.
So if you want to post about the game being too expensive in terms of actual money go right ahead and I will back you too the moon but the f2p model of one and done and not expecting there to be some form of grind or sacrifice of time is so entitled.
Even if you were right about the f2p... even the whales are getting screwed. You think that paying $120+ three times a year and not even having the full collection of cards is reasonable? Even assholes like EA with their Battlefront lootboxes and FIFA copypasting have to stare in absolute awe at Blizzards greed and the monetization model they have been able to get away with for almost 5 years. This game is no longer carried by regular whales, but by mega-whales from the mobile client. Kids with rich parents, who can throw away $1000 yearly on a game without hesitation cos it will get hidden inside the mobile bill.
You totally missed the point of the complaints. It's not that we cry because Hearthstone is expensive. It ALWAYS was expensive.
It's the fact that they LIED SO BLATANTLY. They are mocking us at this point. Do you really think us that stupid? People started doing the maths the minute the new reward system was implemented and clearly we are LOSING thousands of gold we usually would get. And I think the majority of HS players are casuals (I know I am) because I'm 24 years old and games are not my priority. But that's why I loved Hearthstone. I could play it very casually and STILL enjoy it everytime. It follows me all these years in med school and I felt wonderful playing it. But this new system robbed me of that. It will DEMAND more game time, and that's something I just can't do anymore. They should just readjust the rewards so that it's more-or-less the same ratio time spent/rewards as it was before. They can keep the XP stuff, the achievments. All is fair and good. But until they do so, I myself will switch to Gwent. There is a new expansion coming out December 5th and it should be a good time.
F2P players who put in the time and effort. F2P players who have a vested interest in the game, F2P players who play more than the 1 game every few days. These are the people that can articulate and give meaningful feedback to the community and Blizzard.
That is the point the OP is trying to make.
Yes the game would die if there was no F2P - that was never part of the post he made. Yes there are specific situations where what was commented on and offered was NOT what was given or followed through on. Yes the game is getting more traction and focus on the P2P community.
But if you aren't part of the solution through $$, Time, Effort - then quit complaining when you don't get your way. I don't put a lot into the game, and I don't expect much - I only had 4300 gold this expansion - But I have only ever complained about ONE thing, and that is balance.
To phrase the OP's TL;DR in another fashion: You get what you put in.

how much money does one have to spend on the game in order to be able to complain?

Do you have any stats to back that up?
Just curious, because I hear it a lot, but as far as I can tell, nobody except Blizzard has any way of knowing what proportion of players spend money.

Paid monthly subscription for access to all cards. I would be all in for that.
The math is in, they screwed everybody over with the battlepass system.
Sounds like you're shilling hard to me.
Why u hav to be mad? is only card gaem.

Cute, ineffective, but cute.
I would never spend real money on Hearthstone packs. I hate slot machines.
