Doesn't it seem almost impossible to reach level 50 on the tavern pass? I'm now level 17 and leveling up is already a slog. I don't even want to imagine how much harder it'll be once i run out of achievements to give me boosts and if the experience cost for level-ups increases every time. Considering how far i've gotten in the past few days and how much harder it'll get, i can see myself getting level 30 at maximum until the end of the expansion.
The only other game with a battlepass i can compare it to is fallguys and there it's been much easier to achieve max level. I'd feel especially bad for people that pay for the tavern pass, but then again idk how much easier it is for them with the exp-boosts they get. But i'd be pretty pissed if i payed money for the pass but then don't unlock all the portraits cause i couldn't get enough exp
ah right, i have to admit i kind of forgot how long a season lasts. But i feel like once i stop getting any gold rewards for a long time because the level pogression will take me multiple days to reach the next level, i'll probably lose the motivation to play every day
You dont need to play every day, most of the xp is from quests. If you play less, you get it a little later but its certainly achievable for casual players.
I guess i'm just too cynical cause the thought came into my head that they made it so only the people with the exp boosts get to reach level 50. But blizzard would never do that, haha, right?

Are you serious? The new system launched three days ago. The duration of an expansion is four months.
Yes gaining levels slows down significantly, but come on.. how close to level 50 did you expect to get in three days!?
Anyway, the maths has been done, it looks like regularly doing your daily and weekly quests will get you to level 50, even if you don't count any XP from just playing, or from achievements, or assume any bonus XP from paying for the Tavern Pass.
Do you really want to pay $20 for a few hero skins and a coin card?
The packs are not worth it as you get them over time and the cards lose their value as the new expansion approaches.
id like the pass to have a parallel progression to f2p with more cosmetics, golden packs instead of regular ones or two instead of one, double gold etc. Now it’s a waste of money don’t buy it
Another thing i realized is that i'm currently spending all my gold on scholomancy packs to draw that last epic to unlock the duels-cards that require to collect 20 epics from scholomancy. Because for some reason crafted epics don't count. So i'll be able to buy much less darkmoon faire packs until the battlepass resets because once darkmoon faire releases i won't have any saved up gold and i'll be at the part of the battlepass where it is a grind. So i'll be able to play much less new decks. Leading to me probably losing interest.
They frontloaded it way too hard. I think in effort to sugar-coat the removal of gold. It's a huge PR fuckup.
Everyone got many quests at the start, every casual out there hit level 10 almost immediately - Everyone got a load of packs and a load of gold. Kinda felt like a generous festival event. Then we cleared our quests and all got to see the crazy slow pace the xp bar ticks up at without quests. Most people get immediately triggered. Even people who pre-order every expansion.
The realisiation that this new system is going to try and tether you to hearthstone for a couple of hours a day, and into modes you don't perhaps even like ...its not good. Which is why the subreddit is currently in uproar.
I don't know, I think 400 xp per hour is a pretty realistic calculation. I have been keeping track of my games by hand and in one hour and twenty minutes I have achieved similar numbers. In that time I played 10 games with Soul DH and got a little over 500 xp, and this morning I got a little over 400 xp with Libram Pala after playing the same number of games. Numbers vary depending on how long it takes you to play the game. I've gained more experience by losing to a control shaman than beating a face hunter.
Idk, that video that's circling on the subreddit claims they got like 700 xp through about 6-7 hours of constant play. I feel like the 400 xp per hour only apply if you have quests accompanying that. The base amount of xp you get without achievements/quests feels very low

I got 600 exp for playing an hour and twenty minutes yesterday. I haven't seen the reddit video you're referring to, but I had a long playing session Friday where i foamed an entire level (2000 exp) WITHOUT completing any quests. So 700 exp for 6-7 hours of play is bullshit.

The guys at outofcards did the math on this, and you can reach level 50 with 1 hour play per day in 12 and half weeks.

I assume they made it so level 50 is about the breakpoint you get when you do all the quests during a certain expansion.

Math is wrong. They calculated you earn 400 XP per hour in constructed game mode. That is not true.
Try to play 1 hour and see how much xp did you get.
You earn around 300 xp per hour in constructed. Less if you playing fast games...
Other game mode also 1/4 less XP.
Info about XP per hour, same as the famous "same amount of gold" statement was just another lie from Blizz.

Why will you get less XP for playing fast games if you play an hour in total?

Quests are at least 800xp each IIRC
so gaining 1000exp a day by playing 1 hour seems perfectly do-able

imagine in last levels look this redit post

40 dust part immediately screams MANIPULATION because it is 100 on average. Even if we assume that all epics\legendaries are useless.
Sure, 100 dust that late is very meh but it is not like all late rewards are like that one.
Blizzard also said they are going to add more stuff for it after the backlash
