No, you get XP just for the time spent playing. It doesn't even matter if you win or not, altough winning gives you a little more, the time spent playing is the most important part.
So there's pretty much no point in trying to grind wins with fast aggressive decks anymore. Just pick the slowest control deck possible and rope every turn because that's how you make the most amount of XP now. That's the kind of moronic system they made.
And btw, if you just concede immediately as soon as you queue up into and unfavorable match up, you opponent will quite literally get nothing -- unless you're on ranked ladder of course, then they get the stars, but if you're just grinding casual/brawl, then they get absolutely nothing. Previously you would be glad if your opponent just conceded right away, because that meant an easy 1/3 win for a 10 gold reward, now you get nothing.
There has never been a better time to quit Hearthstone than now. I don't know if the developers for this game are just malicious, or simply incompetent and detached from how their own game works. But it's clear it's just gonna get worse from now on.
Dude, are you seriously defending tryhard aggro decks as the positive side in this argument? The type of deck with whom you literally can't missplay, you just play the cards that have that greeny shiny thingy around them, and you end up winning 55% of your games. Boy I'm glad you think about quitting because less aggro players = more fun.
They have absolutely no big vision about how the game should work AT ALL. Duels prove it too. Combine this with the greed of their bosses and you get the mess we have now.

It was an easy way for f2p players to gather additional resources. But no, that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this new system in response to OP's question.
My main problem with it is that it requires you to play MORE in order to get LESS. And to that I say - no.
2) Every game you play awards xp. You are no longer incentivized to play only aggro decks - you can now gain gold by playing the decks you enjoy. The key factor is the time spent playing - the more you play, the more you are rewarded. In addition, you can gain xp by playing other game modes.
3) The rewards are varied - packs, skins, legendaries, and gold.
4) The system is front-loaded allowing people to go into the new expansion with more resources to buy packs and craft cards.
5) Certain achievements award xp, giving people an alternative (or additional) way to progress.
All in all, I'm really enjoying the new system and I'm really glad the change was made!
Do you gain XP just for starting the game and then watching a movie or something while the opponent mullers you, or have they thought of that?
We might see a scourge of simple bots that are just hitting the play button and letting games run - casual mode will become excruciating if that happens

Oh man. Yesterday i Saw a thread about auto clicking hearthstone. On android. Just play Hunter, and put auto clicker in end turn, Hero power and , search enemy. He said he got 400 exp just doing that and play overwatch .
Edit : looks like admin delete the thread. I think auto clicking is forbidden in hearthstone and admin delete the thread.
Do you get XP for winning 3 games in a row like the old 10 gold? As I am not sure
No, times of rewards for playing are behind us.
No ?

In my opinion, the system seems a lot better now:
1) There's a clear progression path.
2) Every game you play awards xp. You are no longer incentivized to play only aggro decks - you can now gain gold by playing the decks you enjoy. The key factor is the time spent playing - the more you play, the more you are rewarded. In addition, you can gain xp by playing other game modes.

you get experience for playing, depending on how much a battle lasts, i got like 500 from doing 15 fast ranked battles with DH
