what was the lie, being specific is a good way to not getting flamed by blizzdrones
Oof i don't think anyone could of said that better lmao, even I reacted to that IRL. Well played, 10/10 š . I'd upvote this to make it a sticky but I don't think there's a dick measuring ranking system in place here yet, haven't logged in here in so long so I might be wrong. This being my first post to view since God knows when, this showed signs of good things coming my way ^_^ reddit was starting to get stale ever since they've been pulling a blizzard and appealing to casuals lol now everyone has to be on their best behavior
::edit::
Nvm i'm an idiot, found the upvote, here you go sir
At this point this is just funny. Who would have thought some fake currency in a digital game could cause so much chaos.
It's in the context of the game being a massively over-priced, loot box fiesta for many years. I guess people have finally had enough of getting scammed?
Iksar said: Assuming you play the same amount and have the same quest completion rate, you shouldn't earn less gold or non-gold in the new system. In nearly all circumstances you should be earning slightly more gold and more non-gold (packs, etc).
You realize that you just linked a thread that says their final verdict is that the new system is BETTER for most players right?
My conclusion was that the new system gives more reward overall, but I have also mentioned that you get less gold, which proves that Blizzard actually lied. I like the new system but I dont try to defend Blizz, they just lied, period.
Exactly. Blizzard clearly said we should earn slightly more gold, and also get non-gold, in almost all cases. The only one in the scenario in the linked thread that earns more gold is the streamer.
Except that isn't true at all. Number one, the other thread says "two weekly quests" when there are three, so you're already missing 1750 xp a week.
Number two, he somehow averages 1000, 800, and 1500 for dailies out to 1000, when it should be ~1100.
Number 3, he gives an estimate for game times but fails to factor in the amount of time you spend waiting for each match. His estimate for gametime is also inaccurate, just a second on HSReplay shows the average game time for Face Hunter is 5.8 minutes, not 5, which adds an extra 48 minutes to the total time.
He then uses that same incorrect number to extrapolate for "normal" players despite starting from an incorrect premise, meaning his numbers are completely off by that point.
Number 4, he assumes that the average player plays 1 hour every day and 2-5 hours both weekend days. That's idiotic, the vast majority of players only log in 3-4 days a week. Looking at my Samsung Galaxy play app, the average Galaxy player plays an average of 1.08 hours on any given day. If a player were to play 1 hour each day and 2 hours on the weekend days, that would be 1.28 hours average. So, were he to be using REALISTIC time numbers, it would be about 7.5 hours a week average, not 10; which means that BY HIS MATH a REAL average player would be making about 6950 gold under the old system. If you adjust the new system to 7.5 instead of 10, then they would be making around 265k xp instead of 289 (as the daily and weekly xp wouldnt change) so it would come out to 6650, meaning that you get a whole 300 gold less than the old system. That's pretty damn close to me, and again, that isnt taking into account the extra weekly that he didnt take into account. When you add 1750x12, that brings you back up to 7500, meaning the average player is making MORE gold in addition to the added bonuses.
1. I have calculated with 3 weekly quests, or 6000 xp / week (2500 +1750 + 1750) so my math is correct.
2. (800 + 1000 + 1500)/3 = 1100 BUT as I have mentioned in the analisys, 50 of the new 66 quests are worth 1000 xp. There are 10 for 800 xp and 6 for 1500. So the real math seems like this: (10*800 + 50*1000 + 6*1500)/66 = 1015. So I missed an extra 1.5% not 10%,
3. The waiting time is negligible (unless you play duels but I was talking about ranked play). I wasnt specifically said face hunter, I was talking about "a very fast aggro deck", which can be face hunter OR something like the much faster aggro druid in wild. Since I wasnt talking about a specific deck, I allowed myself to estimate it at 5 minutes.
4. Maybe I had a misconception about how many hours plays the average player, so you can call my 4. category "competitive player" and use my 1. category the "questing adventurer". And again, I didnt miss the weekly quest xp.
So yeah, nice try but Im prepared to answer these kind of nitpickings. I guess its easier to criticise someone who makes an actual contribution to the community than do the contributing yourself, but next time try to do a better job because Im not offended.
I like how you sort of addressed part of my argument but not the base part.
I wasn't trying to offend you? The fact that you brought that up makes it pretty obvious you were offended lmao
The waiting time is not negligible. It adds at least one minute to every single match. When you're claiming that each match is magically over in 5 minutes, that is a 20% increase in time taken, meaning a 20% decrease in gold earned.
You bring up aggro druid in Wild, which makes it very clear you have no idea what the average player is. Very few people (in comparison to the total number of players) play Wild, and Blizzard has made it very clear that they don't balance around Wild. The top TEN most played decks in wild combined have less play then the second most popular deck in Standard. In fact, if you actually compare it to the top 10 Standard ranked decks, only about 15% of Ranked players play Wild, which means about 5-10% of total players max play Wild as 63% of players were below rank 16 (now Gold 10) and therefore don't contribute a significant number of games.
All you're doing is cherry picking the absolute best numbers for the old system and then pitting them against the worst numbers for the new system. Of course it's going to look worse if you do that.
But the absolute biggest problem is that I proved, using your numbers, and a sample size of 70,000 players' average play time (which is how many the default Galaxy games app tracks), that the difference in pure gold between the old system and the new system with ACTUAL numbers is ~300 gold at worst. You didn't even attempt to explain that discrepancy.
It looks to me like Blizzard got as close to equal as is humanly possible for the average player, in addition to adding an extra 40-50% in new rewards on top of that. All your analysis is doing is being used as an example by people who are crying about "blizzard greedy they dont care about their players".
The point is, for about half the playerbase this is an INCREASE in Gold earned, and for another 30-40ish% it's about equal. Your thread analysis completely leaves out any of that information.
I am not nitpicking. There are fundamental flaws in your assumptions that cause your "analysis" to be invalid for anything except edge cases. I want to see you go back and recalculate it with real numbers, instead of these random assumptions you've made. Normal player matches are not 20% longer than your imaginary 5 minute match. Normal players do not play 10 hours a week. Normal players do not play only ranked/Arena and nothing else. You need to control for:
Players who play mainly Battlegrounds
Players who play mainly Arena, and the rewards from it, which haven't changed in the new system
Lower skilled players
Players who log in long enough to do dailies and then stop
Players who will play 30+ games of Tavern Brawl (which I tend to do on Randomonium weeks)
Players who do a lot of the single player content
Etc, etc. The point is that you've not even considered over half the playerbase, and therefore cannot make any assumptions on what the average player gets.
At this point this is just funny. Who would have thought some fake currency in a digital game could cause so much chaos.
It's in the context of the game being a massively over-priced, loot box fiesta for many years. I guess people have finally had enough of getting scammed?
Lmao. Hearthstone is probably third in most generous CCGs in existence my dude. It's not even close to overpriced.
When I played Yugioh I spent more on one set than I do in an entire year in Hearthstone, and that was to make a single Tier 2/3 deck versus the 10 or 11 I can make in HS every expansion.
How exactly am I getting xp by playing battlegrounds? I seem to get 0 xp, tho I am winning (ending in top 4)
I havent tried battlegrounds, but I have the same problem with duels. I dont get any xp while playing it or finishing a run.
Is it just me or is it a known bug?
The exp gain is never shown unless you level up. You can only see your exp gain if you leave the menu of the game mode and go back to the reward track and calculate by how much the number increased.
I did some testing with Battlegrounds yesterday. For a bottom 4 finish, I would get around 40-70 exp, and the two runs where I got in the top 4 (3rd and 1st place, respectively) I got 130 and 150 (rounded).
As for Duels, I have only played two games which didn't award any exp, but I heard someone claiming that you do get exp after 3+ wins. I can't confirm that yet, but have a run at 2-0. At the very least, it's pretty crappy if you are just having a bad run.
Typical blizzard, hiding the progression so players cannot see the lack of progression easily. Just like there is still a bug with the new cards in your collection years after people caught them manipulating pack outcomes, now it would be 10 times harder to track and prove if they chose to do it again. Blizzard used to make quality games that players enjoyed, but Activision has turned them into something else entirely.
Remember this whole system was front loaded with achievements to give the illusion of fast progression upon release. Subtract all the achievement exp next time and you will get a picture of what a horrible slog this will be. it's like team 5 does not even play games.
Just wait until 2-3 xpacs from now when the rewards will end up being half of what they are now as Blizzard will lower the rewards we get with every xpac, just like MtGA did and pretty much every system that uses a pass system has done
Agreed. I hope they bring the gold back.. No one seems happy with it unless if they are streamers or play for a living. The new reward system is frustrating. I bought the tavern pass, but to be honest, it is only good at the beginning. I am stuck in level 18 for 2 days now (i have work and all) i still managed to ein 15+battles though.. That gives me 50 gold bonus.. So my average play can give me 50 gold per day, that is 750 gold if i play "casually"
But nooo... Hearthstone, Blizzard, please bring back the gold :( ur xp requirements seem high.. Too high :(

I’m averaging about 200 gold a day on the new system, which is a major improvement and way more than I could’ve earned in the past.
I'm tired of these posts. There are too many complains. Don't forget that Blizzard doesn't owe us anything. We all decide if we give our time or money to the game. If you don't like it, its okay to let it know but ultimately, just don't play it. Remember that before anything, this is a paid CCG and anything they do to make the experience better is appreciated. The track system is way better than the old gold quests.
We HAVE to complain. Solem, Zeddy and now Dekkster have spoken up about it. Numbers don't lie. It's waaay less gold than we used to get. Inevitably, players will quit because they can't keep up, and Blizzard will be forced to do something about that.
For the rest of you Blizzard bots- enjoy spending a small fortune every year to play a digital card game.

You must be in what, 10th grade?
As a former YGO player i can say that this is false, YGO was cheaper than HS because you can trade your cards, i know this by experience , if you did good trades you didn't even need money,i.e. before Solemn Judgment was meta i had 15 in my collection, same for other cards, one time i trade a rare shiny spell for a Dark Armed Dragon lol... anyway i do think that HS WAS fairly cheap before the new system, as a F2P player i always open 100+ packs per expansion and i have no problem playing almost every meta deck, but now unless i play 8 hrs/day i will only get 80 or so, i played Runeterra for a month or so and it was more generous than HS
Dekkster made a video about this as well as Zeddy, Solem and Rarran. They had the same complaints about not getting enough XP and gold. Dekkster came up with solutions for this problem. Solem was saying that Blizzard is doing this to anger the players, then fix it to get the adulation of the base. Check out their videos.

Just for the record guys: none of the BIG GUYS (Kripp, Trump, Kibler) have outed their opinion regarding this gamewide issue. Don't let them ever fool you thinking they are on our side. Because they are not. They don't get their pay from Blizzard, but from their fans. But they are so stingy, that they are afraid to lose the free bundles they recieve from them for keeping their mouth shut. I am disapointed.

Just for the record, I couldn't care less about what any of the Hearthstone biggest streamers have to say about it or whether they will say anything at all. New system sucks and it needs some major fixing.
