Well I finally hit the " hard grind " wall at level 17 with the exp trickling in slowly, was hoping the wall would have been at level 25 at least halfway on the progression track, but notably when the expansion hits on the 17th there will be a significant boost of exp for playing the expansion's cards, so I guess I will have to wait till then to see progression.
It's worse than MTGA by a long shot. You get up to 5,250 gold per week in MTGA (quest + wins), which equals 5.25 packs per week, while also leveling by 5 levels and earning the rewards on the reward track; additionally, you can earn multiple individual card rewards for winning games, not to mention other game modes and festivals. Even on the back end, you earn wildcards, which have a 1:1 conversion rate, as opposed to the fractional conversion rate of Hearthstone dust.
It should be noted that MTGA requires more collection setup to construct viable decks due to their looser rules to deck construction and faster releases of content.
I played everyday to gold cap for 4 months during jumpstart to make 1 deck and mostly it came from jumpstart cards.
The new system just benefits blizzard no one else... so don’t believe their marketing lies.
reach level 15 and your progress slows down significantly. Yes you can get more packs towards the end of the expansion but their absolute value will be much lower then than at the early days of each expansion
You are right if we are talking about historic MTGA, where you need to ton of cards to build a proper deck (Jumpstart isn't standard and includes around 700 cards), but we are talking about just standard progression.

IMO it is hard to directly compare MTGA and HS but regardless of format you are playing, MTGA's progression is more generous (and IIRC the 'battlepass' comes included in the big premium preorder bundles) but in the end, the game is also far more expensive to collect and WotC overall has more anti-consumer practices.
I quit playing entirely after they started to require you to 'gamble' for certain cosmetics i.e. the Jumpstart showcase lands.

I found it easier to be meta in historic than standard. Simply due to wild card investment for top tier comps.
Old Guardian has done a review of the new system and he explains why it is so bad. It really is a awful new system that is front loaded to make it seem good.
it seems better than MTGA and even gwents pass mode
Im probably wrong because its activision but who knows
