I'm not sure what it is, Covid, the US Election, both, or something else but I'm just not jazzed about this new set. I usually pre-order really quickly but I haven't done so. Hearthstone fatigue? Some of the new cards are interesting of course but I'm just not feeling it now I guess.
Wondering if any other long-time players like me (played since the beta) feel the same?
Shaman started to leak out and as shaman as my first golden, I’m really excited. So far mage May be taking the back seat this exp and rogue could be seeing a new archetype, it’s better than I expected. So evolution is inevitable and I’m curious to see where it goes. WOTOG is my first exp and I’m ready for something different. This exp May do something that will excite us all. Hopefully....
Well, I havent played since Beta, but I have played since Gadgetztan was released. For sure all those things you mentioned can and do affect how we feel about the game. Also, its been 6 years for you! Thats a long time to play a game of a 4 beats a 3, a 3 beats a 2 etc....and still be hyped for it. Another factor is the recent rotation, and the extreme hype we have all had from this amazing restart to the meta and the rotation year. Alot of people have said this is one of the best expansions/meta ever. So there just has to be a let down eventually.
I see the next few expansion just adding to the amazing meta we have right now. I do play alot more of other games too, because HS just doesnt enthrall me the same way as much anymore. When I play less, I enjoy the game more.
I'm pretty hyped personally. There's lots of meme cards in the set that could be fun like Deck of Lunacy and the power level of the set is high enough to drastically change up the meta again. I just want to experiment with building off-meta decks that kind of work when everything is chaotic. Duels looks like a fun time killer too. (Played since post-launch classic but not beta btw)
This one looks more enjoyable than Scholomance, period .... which was a boring, boring expansion and only put Paladin over the top, after Crybabies complained how weak the class is, but they totally exaggerated and the result is 58% Winrates in Ladder.
The Old Gods at least bring back the Late game win conditions to Controldecks, hopefully Paladin and DH Nerfs are on the Menu, really sick and tired of the same boring Meta every month.
i said the same in a post on reddit and recieved a lot of hate i used to buy both bundles but this time none of the cards make me to buy them this expansion seems boring to me
I think I'm not as hyped just cause we are getting 1 less month so it means less time to save gold. I can easily save around 2k gold on a single month so it means I'll be getting 20 less packs and that just kills my mood a bit tbh.
I'm actually more hyped for this set than I have been in a while and I've played since Naxx sooo.. I'd bet elsewhere. Maybe cumulative fatigue of a long ass taxing year
Been playing since Beta minus 6 months, not at all excited about what I've seen. Stopped playing constructed during both Ashes and Scholo because of the absurd power creep, particularly in card draw/generation. Nothing I've seen in Darkmoon is telling me that trend is reversing, so I have no plans to even try constructed this time.
Duels has been fun so far, and I'll play the brawls that are fun.
I do like that the Old Gods are returning. I made this post to determine if it was other life things impacting how I feel about the new set, or what. I think that other things are definitely a part of it. I'm not trying to diminish anyone's excitement. In fact, I feel a bit better about it after reading this replies.
I actually won a contest with a buddy years ago on customhearthstone - we made a Darkmoon Faire mini-set so I'm glad to see that theme in the new expansion.
Not me actually, I am very excited for control Paladin that has a wining condition. Going to try to get an N-zoth and Yogg deck to work with Libram of Wisdom.
I actually like the new expansion, and there are a number of interesting cards/decks in it IMO. But I do agree that the timing has made it a bit less hype- League has season 11 start, the NFL is in full swing, uni has started back up, etc.
I understand. For me, it almost feels like they have doubled down on the “win purely by rng” style of gameplay, which just makes it less enjoyable for me
I am disappointed, not because of the expansion, the problem is my gold, which is only enough for 20 packs. I just hope to get some ancient god (I would like C'Thun) and some warrior epics for the handbuff to different tribes. Obviously I hope to get Ringmaster Whatley.
I'm more excited over the prospect of the direction Blizzard is hinting at taking the game starting with this expansion more so than the expansion itself.
Corruption as a Keyword isn't overly exciting. You have a corruptible card in hand, you play something that's more expensive, now you transform that card in hand to something better for the same cost. That's about as basic a keyword as you can have. However, what it represents, for standard anyway, is something else entirely, and that's pretty exciting (at least it is for me).
The entire Corruption mechanic promotes a slower meta. Blizzard is incentivizing players to play slower, more expensive cards so they can get huge payoffs by corrupting other powerful cards. In my eyes, anything that promotes a more interactive meta that isn't all face all the time is a good thing. Of course, until the next rotation, a lot of the hyper-aggro face decks we currently endure won't (likely) be going anywhere. But, if this is an indication of what's to come, with Blizzard further incentivizing slower, more interactive games, then it's not just this expansion but future expansions and midway expansions that are the really exciting prospects to look forward to.
Of course, there's a very strong possibility I'm reading far too much into this. I mean, there's always going to be face decks in every meta. But a man can dream.
I am pretty hyped for Old Gods, Yogg is sure to be bonkers. I have taken a LONG break from playing HS regularly though, so I'm ready for a few weeks of post-expansion novelty.

5,500 Gold, 85 packs Pre purchase, 15k Dust
iv played this game since it went live and people for some reason since maybe 2 - 3 expansions in have made tons of these type of threads
