This new system seems pretty in depth and I was reading somewhere that Blizzard is taking out gold to buy packs? Is this the case? I cannot find news on it.
They're not taking it away entirely. It's just gonna be like a battle pass type thingy. So you'll get exp and upgrade the battle pass proggresively and then some of the levels will have x amount of gold, some others will have packs and some other will have other stuff like random legendaries and cosmetic items. Only once we all see the actual rewards you'll be able to tell if the free portion of the battle pass is even comparable to the paid version.
They are limiting gold to f2p players to try to get them to buy packs. I guess the few suckers who pay to win in this game did not feel they had enough of an advantage.
Many f2p players are considering playing wild only, battlegrounds only or leaving the game entirely, Standard will be filled with p2w players and bots. Enjoy that.

Sigh, not again. So you have proof that they're limiting gold to f2p? Of course not. Still spewing the same old nonsense. Still without a shred of evidence.
To respond to OP: Since there's really nothing else you can buy with gold, and since they're still rewarding you with gold under the new system, it seems clear you will still be able to purchase card packs with gold. Per one of the designers "In nearly all circumstances, you should be able to earn slightly more gold and more non-gold (card packs, etc)" under the new system. But we still do not know the details of how quickly you'll earn XP, how much XP you'll need to move from one level to another, etc. Until we know that, we can't do a thorough analysis of the impact of the change on most people.
how much is the battlepass going to cost per expansion or per year??? I really don't wanna pay £20 each expansion to stay relevant as a F2P player
I actually doubt it will be worth the money: from what I've seen, the rewards are goofy cosmetic stuff (skins, coins, etc.), which strike me as a massive waste of cash. (I've never understood the fascination with skins. But hey, not my money.) The only other advantage is a 10% boost to XP earned. Depending on what you earn per battle, it may not be worth what they're going to charge. If you're f2p, you're just going to have to play more to earn the same XP. Not ideal, but not insurmountable.

Aggro decks are cheap as hell - the game is full of f2p face hunters who just play whatever card they draw and make it to legend. Skill? No! F2P? Yes. What are you going on about?
give me a p2w deck that beats soul dh and face hunter
I´ts the complete opposite, the new system will give you more rewards than the old one
Who told you that? Yes it will give more rewards in terms of numbers but most of them will be cosmetic... not gold or decks. I now have 7k gold which I collected since the last expansion and I can buy 70 decks when the expansion launches. good luck getting the same number of decks once the new reward system is in place and you get awarded xp rather than “currency”

You're actually cute lol. You think they are gonna say that we'll get less gold even if that's the case? OF COURSE they'll say that the new system is fantastic and it'll be a huge improvement.
Even if we do get "more stuff" it'll more than likely be for the paid portion of the battle pass, which means indeed they're taking gold and/or resources from everyone
There removing gold yes but there adding what seems to be an equivalent point system as early screens showed dailys still there just with something not gold as the pay out
So for the upcoming expansion would it be wise to purchase as many packs as possible for one of the earlier expansions?? I have like 5000 gold saved up and I don't want to lose it. Thanks!

They took our gold.

There is no info about that. The speculation is between 10$-25$ (Knowing Blizzard it will be rather close to higher price from that range).

this new rewardtrack is 2 days away and still we miss major details... when will they give it to us?
To live is to suffer, to survive is to find meaning in the suffer!
if Hearthstone becomes pay to play, I foresee 95% less complaining on this site (starting after then initial month of nonstop tantrums of course)
