I've been noticing for quite an extended period that opening card packs since the changes, that the duplication protection works fine for commons and rares, but epics you can get upward of 3 or more of cards like Enchanted Cauldron whilst either missing or having 1 copy of other epics.
Is anyone else having this problem or did I miss an update where Blizzard explained this occurrence?
Ive DE both Guardian Animals and Secret Passage and already gotten back a copy of both each since after doing so, but have gotten 3rd copies of other epics before getting my 2nd of those 2 cards.
The duplicate protection only counts the first copy owned. This means that you have had all epics. This means that epics opened from scholomance are now random for you. Your current collection does not matter.
yeah, that's how it works. you got a copy of each, so the game took it as if you already had two copies of each, because you disenchanted the first one.
Well I assumed you had to get at least 2 copies of each rarity, before you started getting extras, did not understand it to be 1 copy of each. So its a misunderstanding on my part.

You assumed correctly and that's exactly how it works.
Once you obtain a card, game remembers that you have it in your collection forever. That means that even if you later decide to disenchant some cards, they will still be counted as if you have them in your collection for any future pack openings.
Once you open both copies of all cards of one rarity, you'll start getting random duplicates of that same rarity.

So if im to completely understand this system, if I got all the cards of an expansion and I DE some regular epics (not withstanding nerfed cards) in hopes to try and unpack golden versions of those said epics, there is a higher probability I might get other epics instead of the ones I DE because the system remembers I owned those cards before?
If so I understand how this system makes its money and thank you for the responses.

If you've gotten 2 copies of every card in a given expansion (1 for Legendaries), then your chances to receive a card of any given rarity are identical (for that rarity). There is no higher probability for any particular Epic, regardless of how many of them you've previously owned or DE'd.
Your initial post sounds pretty unscientific. "I've been noticing" is not nearly the same thing as "I have kept rigorous track of the Epics I've opened." If you're getting triples of Epics, it means you've already gotten 2 copies of all Epics for that set at some point. You might not remember getting them, and you might not remember DE'ing them, but you did. Further, this statement:
"Ive DE both Guardian Animals and Secret Passage and already gotten back a copy of both each since after doing so, but have gotten 3rd copies of other epics before getting my 2nd of those 2 cards."
...is perfectly in line with the system. You had 1 copy of each of those cards. You DE'd the copy you had. You got another copy of each (you didn't "get them back" -- you got new copies that replaced the ones you DE'd previously). Now you've collected 2 total of each of them, so those two cards are marked as "complete" in your collection. The system doesn't ensure that you have 2 concurrent copies of a given card; it only cares whether or not you've opened 2 of them on separate occasions. You did. So the system has correctly marked them as collected and moved on.
If the system "refilled" any "empty" slots (where you have fewer than 2 of a given card), then people could and would abuse that by DE'ing nerfed cards for their full value and buying packs that are guaranteed to have the "missing" cards. Blizzard recognized this obvious abusive behavior and designed the system so that such exploits aren't possible. You can still luck into multiple copies of nerfed cards, but the system doesn't guarantee them to you.
and the system was put into place in this way in order to precisely prevent probability manipulations:
One can't get all cards in an expansion, DE the nerfed ones when they are, and then open a bunch of packs with the guarantee that the epic you get within 10 packs will be the nerfed one for you to DE for full dust instead of 1/4
Im not complaining about the system, was trying to get a full understanding of how it functions and it works fine. Its actually stricter for epics and legendaries, as you can DE commons and rares and get them back in a fewer packs for obvious reasons.
If I am to critique one thing about it though, is within the 2 weeks full dust refund Blizzard should make it harder for ALL rarities that you DE to show up, but after the 2 weeks or outside of the 2 weeks, DE to try to get goldens should be easier, if they really only want to protect against dust cheating.
Just my take on it, subjective
With that being said a few lessons have been learnt over last couple of expansions, and a newly informed approach will be taken for future expansions

you get all cards 2 times and if you de them you will get them at random after you got all the rest of the card.... and if you get golden card its random what you get there it have noting to do with your normal cards...
AND NO you should never get it back again after you DE them you can allways just craft them with the dust you got for them so ofc you should never get them back...

That is literally the reason they dont do that. If you could just keep DEing a specific card and rolling for a golden version of that card that would be stupid as hell.

never had any problems its just you who are wrong... you probly have DE the cards when there where nerfed
Ah, you disenchanted that missing epic some time ago
