Personally? I'm actually really hyped for it. No joke. I've been playing a while, yes, but not only does this expansion bring back my favorite aesthetic in all of hearthstone, but the new progression system looks like it'll actually be great for new players. It helps give them consistent rewards as well as a more cohesive and reliable experience, and while yeah ultimately there is still a good chunk of pay to win, at the same time it really does feel like blizzard is ultimately helping people with this new progression system. You're still earning gold, just for different, less arbitrary things. It's becoming more like runeterra, where you're rewarded just for playing the game, instead of getting very slight rewards for like picking demon hunter at the start of a match or whatever.
What's the general consensus? I'm actually pretty hyped for all this. And Duels just looks plain awesome.
People seem to complain about the new system but honestly Achievements feel like they are going to be awesome, i really want to see the rewards before i create an opinion
Little disappointed with the power level of the old gods. They seem hard to use but maybe there will be more stall cards revealed that make them playable. Very hyped about duels and hyped that they fixed djinni
I personally feel the gold system is way to against F2P players like myself (was a pay play before 08) I have helped my GF get her account started start of last year and if she was not so lucky at her legends I feel she may have not fell in love with it like she has. So i feel if this system brings what gold does and from early looks seems quests stay just just a different name for gold attached and there is more ways to acquire the new money resource, So overall if the early guess is right i think this will be great for long time and new players.
@Nicodemus I can agree, the old gods are definitely slower than they were before... but at the same time, with the exception of DH, most decks these days have ways to stall out, from mage freeze to old-school control warrior to help slow the game down... if you ask me, the old gods can definitely work, they'll just take some workshopping. I'm particularly excited for yet another addition to the Yogg collection.
SO hyped for the achivment system and the quests are going to be so much better. By far the best part of this news.
The new set also looks fun. Hopefully the other cards are just as wacky. Corrupt seems like a great idea so far!
My one downer is Duels. It looks like a lot of fun, but I was hoping for somthing totally out of the box. Tournament or something co-op. Still, looks like so much fun.
As long as the average gold gain is about the same I don't see why the new system would be worse than what we have. I have a suspicion that it might be more grindy which I wouldn't be a fan of.
I watched the stream (a bit laggy at some important moments), and as long as they don’t remove gold as a daily quest reward I could say that I’m impressed, not with the recycled expansion n°3 (because WoW doesn’t have more lore to explore), but the system revamp looks pretty interesting, I’m honestly hype for that (it could be done years ago but better now than never, right?).
Edit: Oh, the Duels mode, I forgot about that. It will be fun at the start but after some time it’s going to end like a wild 2.0 netdecks with some dungeon run stuff in between. I’m hoping this new game mode receives the same update rate as Battlegrounds or it will get even more stale than wild in 2 weeks.

Maybe on the duels. I feel that with 3 hero powers each there's plenty of room for deck diversity and corner case successful decks that may not be easily discovered but maybe I'm being optimistic.
It definitely really affects F2P players, here's why. Let's say a F2P player is able to save like 7k gold per expansion (which you can get by getting like 70 gold each day which is incredibly easy). That means that on launch day they could purchease 70 packs. Let's say that a F2P battle pass ends up giving you 80 packs worth of goodies... Well then that's better... Right? Well not really, cause it definitely isn't the same to be able to open 70 packs on day 1 and maybe build one or two decent decks than it is to get the same amount of packs (or even slightly more) but through a longer period of time.

In the current system, you have to play at least every 3 days to no miss any daily quest and to earn the optimal amount of gold you have to play at least 3-4 hours every day to hit the gold limit.
In the new system, you can not play for the first 2 months and grind for more next 2 and you will only miss a small amount of gold compared to the current system if you went afk for 2 months. I think the new system is strictly better especially for people like me, who can't play daily for like 3 months of the expansion.
