Much needed change to Tortollan Pilgrim but this will impact all other slower Mage decks as well. The fact that it now removes the spell instead of casting a copy makes it very bad in slower matchups. It will get you closer to fatigue and that's a big deal. I think this is going to have a really negative impact on HL Mage or any form of Control Mage. This change isn't as simple as it looks. The card might not even be worth playing in those decks anymore.
I think they could have just nerfed Twilight Runner to 6 or Overgrowth to 5 instead of Guardian Animals. It is also a Hunter card and this kills any chances of it being viable for the class.

I don't think I've seen that card in highlander mage since the last expansion. Highlander mage has a ton of big card options. I don't think this is a big deal for that deck.
Not that anyone is running it in, but it is bullshit that the nerf effects hunter just because it's a ridiculous card in druid. I imagine if there ever was a chance of hunter running this card in future expansions that's now gone. It was a druid problem and it was the ramp cards that needed dealing with.
I think you've already stated the reasoning; Hunters just aren't playing the card so they really aren't hurt by the nerf. It's not like if Lightning Bloom was nerfed because both Shamans (what's left of them) and Druids run the card. The nerf would undoubtedly bring Druids back down to earth but it would just be cruel to take away the one useful tool Shaman has at its disposal.
Whether the card is being used in a meta viable deck or not is not the point in my opinion. When they nerfed Reckless Experimenter because of snip snap I can remember thinking the same thing. Although many people play tried and tested tier 1 / 2 decks to climb the ladder, I'm sure a vast amount of the community also pay their money and grind their gold because they enjoy deck experimentation and building decks around interesting cards like Guardian Animals. I'm sure blizzard could have come up with an alternative way of reducing the power of the card in the druid deck without impacting everyone's HS experience. If they had nerfed lighning bloom would we be happy with the argument that shaman is trash tier anyway so who cares what happens to their decks?
I'm kind of surprised they nerfed the mana on Guardian Animals instead of the effect. As many have said, tweaking Twilight Runner is probably the more precise way to do it, but failing that, I'd argue that the problem with GA + TR is the Rush that it grants, not the mana.
If you change the Rush to Taunt, it makes more sense for the card title (they're animals who show up to guard you), and it also gives an opponent the opportunity to remove the Runner before the Druid is able to draw from it.
Druids would still have Animated Broomstick as an option if they wanted to grant Rush, but that feels more balanced to me, since it relies on another card taking up another deck slot.

I would agree with being a deep change though changing it to drawing a card also had benefits. Thinning your deck can be pretty good if you're not worrying about priest.
Tortollan nerf is ridiculous. It's not such a popular deck and just because it beats some decks doesn't mean it needs a destroying nerf.
The TP nerf is prolly a design space thing for the next expansion(s). Its unfortunate that they are still targeting combo decks, they just want everyone just to play aggro or zoo it seems.
Although Twilight Runner would be a better adjustment, I think Blizzard has been trying to nerf epics mainly because of dupe protection. They don't want to give a ton of free dust to people holding on to those duplicate rares (especially if they're golden haha).
Overall though, I think this does make druid less high-rolly (granted they can still high roll, but aggro will punish them even more now). I don't really have a problem with Paladin personally, but I'm still kinda surprised they didn't hit them somewhere. The meta will still revolve around paladin and mage.

So apparently for Blizzard the problem of this game are combo and midrange decks. The ton of aggro stuff out there is perfectly fine. Face hunter, aggro DH, and stealth rogue are all perfectly fine and balanced decks. And the deck building creativity provided by other insanely fun archetypes such as pure paladin and bomb warrior is also to be left untouched.

Yes, of course. 👍👍👍
Bomb warrior, while I'm sympathetic to it being annoying, and requiring zero skills like druid did, had the best matchup vs GA druid. I think Mountseller's gonna be the thing again but since it's not half as good, then maybe bomb warrior would fall and we'll finally have less of it.
We got a good meta all-in-all, but wrench needs a nerf and finally begone (i liked some ideas, mainly the battlecry/deathrattle Zeddy offered) and open up the HL and other slots. Pally, not so much, it keeps a lot of the meta in check, but I wouldn't mind a couple of cards there. Apprentice avoiding the nerf is beyond me, tempo mage is not as oppressive, but playing 60 cards is worse than galarogue prenerf.
Sadly, I think you're right that Mountseller will be the new primary druid deck. So Blizzard nerfs GA so that we can now face an even more absurd, boring, non-interactive, high roll deck. I hope the whiners out there are happy. I give it a week before you start complaining, "Druid got 3 Zixor, Apex Predator off of Exotic Mountseller! Nerf it now!" (And, for the record, I don't play the standard GA druid. I do use it in a Highlander Druid deck I play, but it's hardly my most valuable card.)

I don't know about you, but I don't want another Shaman-after-Galakrond-nerfs
