I’m a returning player after being away for a LONG LONG time. I last played properly during mean streets release period.
What am I best doing in order to use my money wisely? I was thinking about buying the 40 pack bundle of the latest expansion using amazon coins ... but would I be best to wait for the new expansion at the end of the year and just put my money into that?
hes a old player he have TONS of old cards no he should nver buy classic hardly any classic card is used you should be the last 2 xpack and skip 2018 packs unless you have meney to buy lots of pack then you should just buy all but if you just wanna buy a few then the last 2 since 2019 packs will go out next year
Im f2p so i dont really know but my recomendation is to look on youtube for a channel called hearthstone mathematics. They do all the math when a bundle is out and tell you if it is worth to by or not.
There is a bundle called starter bundle or something like that which gives you a guaranted legendary. I beleave that is the most profitable one.
My recommendation is to watch on that youtube video for the lastest bundle blizzard released and the video for the starter bundle. And decide from there.
At this point wait for the next expansion preorder. Scholomance academy is the strongest expansion yet in the game, but I think next expansion will be even stronger. Don’t forget Ashes of Outland. Not a strong expansion for sure, but if you like demon hunter is the best place to start in order to get the non-legendary cards.
No man. The only solo adventure that currently gives you any exclusive cards is Galakrond's Awakening, and the cards are really nothing to write home about. Your best bet is to analyze card statistics at HSreplay and see which set is used the most. Classic packs are always a safe bet.
Because they are strong to build budget decks and will never rotate to wild. They could be hall of famed thought. in which case you will get full dust refund, without the need to disenchant.
Classic is gonna change big time (or so it was teased) next year with the first expansion. If possible, I wouldn't put my resources into Classic for the time being, since we don't know if existing cards get nerfed/buffed or removed and replaced, and if you get any compensation for that.
As far as current sets in Standard are concerned: All the 2019 sets are still fairly relevant for some classes, especially Mage, Warrior and Priest, but those are not the best classes to play on a budget anyway. Galakrond's Awakening is the only adventure that rewards exclusive cards, but most of them are not very good, and many of the good ones are on the decline.
Ashes of Outland is, for the most part, not very remarkable, but has some decent cards and the Standard bonus of staying around for another year, and Scholomance is (so far) a fairly powerful set that's worth getting some cards from.
Demon Hunter is unlocked, along with the Initial Set, by completing Illidan's PVE Prologue chapters, and if I'm not mistaken, you can still get 3 packs each for completing the first wing of Dalaran Heist and Tombs of Horror for their respective sets.
Investment (with or without money) is always a tricky question and depends on your budget and your preferences for Wild or Standard. If you only care for Standard, focus on current year + next expansion, and if you care about Wild as well, I'd get some cards from last year, especially Uldum.
Edit: just saw that you played during MSG. There are almost no deck archetypes left in wild from back then and the ones that are need significant updates from later released sets. Pirate warrior is probably the least changed but its tier 3 at best ATM.
Tldr if you played during year of the mammoth play wild if you left before frozen throne buy scholomance
The cards from last year were super op rise of shadows saviors of uldum decent of dragons but they are only going to be standard for another 5 or 6 months. Ashes of Outland was a decent set in hs history but underpowered in comparison to those 3 and scholomance seems the most op.
Depending on what your collection looks like you could try wild instead of standard, if you were playing during frozen throne or kobolds its probably where u should start. cube lock and secret mage, quest mage, reno priest, almost any druid deck are still great from back then with a few fairly cheap updates. But if you missed kft or k&c you should probably just buy scholomance.
I'll remind you that if you can get to rank Diamond 5 each month, you will get 5 packs of the current set. It's not that hard, especially towards the end of the month. That might sway what you buy. If it were me, I would buy packs from each Standard set until I got the guaranteed legendary in the first 10 packs. Hope that helps.
Find a deck you like, and spend around that... If you're playing wild, and you like a deck that uses WotOG, buy those packs and hope... I'd probably just suck it up, and ftp until next expansion and buy bundles... Although I'm a whale, so I'd probably just drop a couple hundred on all current expansions.
Buying packs of ANY expansion in this game is like burning money, buying 40 packs may give ABSOLUTLY nothing, lately Blizard has been scamin people via crappy bundles like Jaina's or mega wild bundle, this is a trend that will likely continue, they already removed the pity timer for legendarys and I found out opening less legendaries than ever and getting even less value that costs more than 1 dolar for 5 virtual cards.
If you haven't invested any money yet I recommend you investing in a more user friendly card game than in any Blizzard game, good luck.

buy classic bruv
I would put together some cheap deck and play that until you figure out what you would want to craft

F2P new player here (started playing this month). I would say just use the budget face hunter deck and wait it out.

Thank you everyone. The advice is appreciated.
Would the solo adventures be worth a look? Back in the day they gave a lot of good cards

Why are classic cards a safe bet? I probably have a lot of them already

check the "Hearthstone Mathematics" on youtube - they provide good videos on pack and bundel dust values.
The rule of thumb is that the best packs are from the latest expansion, but this is just a general guideline.
its not hardly any card see play
Not using it on Hearthstone.
looking at my collection stats it seems I have more cards then i realised i did...
