What if have a sideboard of like ~10 cards and you can swap like 4 card at the start of every game.
What do people think of this?
It can prevent some auto concedes. Lets say you play a Priest with no weapon removal wouldn't it be great you can swap some cards for like Ooze when you face a Bomb Warrior of board in some more AoE vs Zoo Warlock?
I always wanted stuff like this for hearthstone, have more control on your game and dont just auto concede once you see a counter to your deck. It also allows you to have more fun and interactive games since you can just do whatever you want with those 10 ( or whatever number we want to have ). Like if you have a combo deck that doesnt work against some aggro's you can just swap out a couple card to maybe have better survivabilty. But as much as its a good idea, we gotta see the bad side effects to it aswell. It basicly narrows down the decks that can be made for an expansion. Because there is a lot of decks that couınters other decks and literally live of of that in the meta. Imagine a malygos druid seein hunter and just taking 4 insane heal/taunt/armor/board clear stuff from his 4 cards. A druid can do that and shut off any aggro. But hunter cant really do that since aggro cant just become control with 4 cards. I know the example aint that good, but just this can show how many unbalanced stuff will happen out of it. If hearthstone can apply it, i will be more than happy. But until then we better of just stay away from it . Or maybe just bring a beta version of it or something to try it.
Since we're not playing best 2-out-of-3 or the likes, it'd be better to have a 1 cost legendary neutral spell that says - Starts in hand. Discover a tech card, with options like Ooze, Neophyte, and Albatross. This way it's not a must, it's mulligan-able, it would fit all classes, and since those techs are one-of, it's a better balance to all decks.
TLDR - I'm Not for the idea outside a Match situation unlike the single-game mode we have.
I liked the idea i had in my had about something like that before reading OPs initial comment, and no, anything that can help already broken class will never be good to implement.
It's really something that requires testing BUT I really love that idea. It allows you to flex in some counters to your decks and pick tech cards regardless of the meta without being punished.
Having a meta is obviously healthy for the game, but a meta amongst tech cards is really bad as the result will either be very good or very bad being a dead card.
So that said, tech cards may become too strong in that case. Except in wild, where nobody knows what others could be playing.
This essentially means, EVERY deck would have weapon hate, secret hate, highlander hate, combo hate, etc...
Which would mean playing decks that try to win doing those things would ALL become unplayable, probably reducing it to a control only game.
Many moons ago iron beak owl was only 2 mana and and big game hunter was 3 mana. They had no downside. it was TERRIBLE because it countered any big "fun" cards, so nobody played them and you were best to just stick with aggro. I see sideboards and giving the same feelz.
It could be ok in some kind of multi-deck / tournament format, but not on ladder.
So if I'm getting at the point: you'd swap in some of the up to 4 cards after seeing your opponent, but before the mulligan?
I feel like the first problem with it is simply time. I don't want to have to pick through my deck to figure out what cards to remove, and wait while my opponent does the same. It'd be better to adopt something like the Expert format, where you'll queue with 3 nearly-identical decks, and could choose between the 3 options at start. That could be done a lot more quickly, perhaps in as little as 15 seconds.
I think, mostly, I don't really like it. Being able to slot in counters to certain kinds of decks really skews a playing environment. Like, I don't think sideboards mitigate hard counters that much, and could easily strengthen them.
If this was ygo and we were talking bout matches (bo3 ; standard ygo tournament form) then it would be ok. And if it was between the matches. Else nope.
screw that blud that idea sux srsly. everything is fine as it is only thing that needs to happen is for packs to cost less and certain classes, like priest, need a srs buff.

Pls no
I'd like to try it for a week and see how it plays out.

This isn’t Yugioh.
Constructive post @Dr_Scaphandre
Current tech cards would be profoundly powerful with a sideboard. They'd all have to be significantly nerfed.
I think something like this would be great to try out in Arena before attempting to roll it out in standard
