Naw. Folks should be able to discover them. For FTP players, discover effects are a fun way to actually get to play with some stuff that might be less affordable.
That said, some discover cards might be too strong. I don't really think Magic Trick is one of them, but the Dragon and Spell lackeys? Yeah. Just make those "add a random" etc etc.
Why shouldn't day? Just cause you get salty? I'm guessing you discovered them with Magic Trick. and why shouldn't you be able to? Evocation is a spell and it costs less than 3 mana, meets the criteria. Stop crying so much.
I hate more the fact that lackeys always get them primes... Or when I kill a prime and they always top deck it afterwards and instant wins them the game...
I think there should be limits on discovering/generating legendaries. I had a guy with 4 kargaths today, of which he played three of the primes versions. I played a pally a couple days ago with 3 dragon queens Alex.
And that is beyond frustrating when you made the right play saving removals and such. I think if that legendary is in your decks you shouldn’t be able to generate more. And if you have generated one, that’s the limit.
kargath isn’t an S tier card, but gaining 30 Extra armor and playing 3 10/10’s with rush in a game undermines many strategies besides just hyper Aggro, and even then he played two of those at 3 mana and that beats up a lot of Aggro as well.
Legendaries are balanced around the fact that they usually will be played only once per game. So discovering them multiple times kinda breaks a core aspect of the game in a sense.
OTOH discovering legendaries is great for FTP players as already mentioned, and is fun (IMO).
Legendaries should be capped at being available for discover once per game. The prime culprit of this is Gala Priest and dishing out 3-4 Mindrender Illucia each game is dumb.
However, I don’t really care if it stays as is, just giving you guys a feasible solution.

I agree with this.
I believe legendaries should be one-ofs in your deck as they are designed to be and considering their impact.
I think lowering their chance to be discovered compared to other rarities is a valid compromise. So game like Evocation to Evocation to Evocation when the mage has an empty hand happens less often.

The issue is this creates infinite value senecios which are incredibly unfun to play against and unbalanced no one likes a game full of RNG where 2 lucky discover effects makes deck building irrelevant

How many times you run into something like this? Just for info...

It's pretty often against certain casino deck types in meta. Mage and priest do this way more often than is healthy for the game. Rogue is a close second.
remember back on old days, a card with a good effect (especially card draw effect) will ALWAYS have lower stats. 2 mana 1/1 draw a card right? Now we got shits like 5 mana 4/4 discover a spell AND +1 spell damage, arcane breath 1 mana deals 2 AND discover a spell, all those stupid studies 0 mana discover a specific type of card. Long word short, it's not the problem of the discover effect, it's the problem of Blizzard's brain to print those discover cards without any negative stats or effects.
just try to build a lead with your brain in a game. After 30 mins, when victory is so close, enemy casino mage play a 10 mana spell texted "randomly win the game by luck LMAO"
Yup I think all the Discover cards should have heavy downsides, like 5 mana 3/3’s, and I don’t think that any discover cards should cost less then 3 or 4 mana.
you shouldnt be able to make a turn 10 play by discovering a 7-8-9 cost minion. discovering a dragon queen with draconic discovery for 1 mana then playing it (discounted to eight with the priest discover), and another dragon for 1. Or finding a death wing to save your life/board.
really I think it takes a lot of the skill out of building decks. Cause a lot of decks have some discover in them, and i don’t think you should luck into win conditions on the reg. Which is what happens now a days.
I was thinking about this the other night. I don't necessarily think they should be removed from the discovery pool but it would be nice to see if their appearance rates could be cut down a bit. In almost any matchup where I'm playing as or against Mage, it is more common than not to see two or more Astromancer Solarian played.
Unless explicitly stated. /thread

the whole discover mechanic is broken, I mean what the point having a whole deck based on discovering (legendaries)..

The answer to all your doubts will always be

I can somewhat understand the premise.

I totally agree with you, particularly because the set of cards is usually so small and they are of hugher power level.
This, but only in Arena

PS winning or losing this way is not fun.

Looks like a good hand. Going to be fun.
This doesn't happen every game, just let the mages have fun this expansion. Jeez.
