Nope wasn't the point Im asking what is the point of Drain Life
well it was back in the classic set when Sword and Board didn't exist...and well power kept creeping and now warriors have Sword and Board..even then I don't think Drain Life was played that much but power creep is the reason that exists. Not to mention comparing Sword and Board and Drain Life isn't really that fair..One's a warrior card and ones a lock card. Nether Breath and Soul Shear are better examples
Drain Life was played for a short period while people were sussing out a tempo Warlock. (It didn't work out)
Sword and Board is a similar card but different enough that life is considered more valuable than armour. (for the most part - how that is in practice and certainly whether the cost difference is too high or low is another conversation, but certainly: Power Creep is the key answer here). Drain life is part of the classic set and Blizzard have made it clear that classic cards should never really outshine their Expansion counterparts, otherwise we start to see them as auto includes in most decks which is not ideal for the game design or meta.
You should consider that warlock cards are generally of lower quality than similar cards in other classes. There are many examples of this, e.g. Darkbomb vs Frostbolt vs Quick Shot vs lightning bolt. This is to compensate for the fact that warlock has arguably the strongest hero power in the game.
So directly comparing warlock cards to other class cards is not quite fair.
I'm just sad that Drain Life and Holy Fire didn't become Lifesteal cards when Bliz invented the keyword. The effect is a hair different, but it would have been nice.

Particularly where healing is involved. Because of the nature of their hero power, Warlock healing typically has to be really closely watched and not get too strong. Looking over most of the history of Hearthstone, the quality of healing in Warlock has been pretty closely correlated with Warlock control decks doing well. The better they heal, generally the better they perform.

That being said, your example is egregious.
Egregious. Haha.
The example was fine the only difference is Warlock has heal synergy and warrior has armor synergy
Still 3 mana deal 2 to a single target is never ideal. You can target face though so I guess that's why it's 3 mana.
Will Drain Life ever see play or does it need a buff
It's pretty much Sword and Board for 2 mana more lol
In this thread someone discovers "Power Creep"
