I'm inviting you to share the most casual druid plays you have witnessed this expansion. In this game I am having a very strong opening on Totem Shaman until turn 5 when my oponent makes a 55 mana comeback:
While an incredible combo, its not unbalanced imo. He needed to have and draw very specific cards to pull that combo off. Totem Shaman has no AOE to fight back if it loses the board. Just a bad matchup for you.
I feel you though. Its a sucky feeling having to just sit there and have no way to interact with the combo.
I think the problem with “he needed to draw specific cards” as an excuse for why this isn’t problematic just doesn’t work because drawing cards, regardless of whether they are specific ones or not, is totally random and completely unrelated to skill.
You hate to see a turn like that for sure. But you also hate to see someone hitting you down to 1 hit point by turn 6 too. So... swings and roundabouts.
I mean it depends on how you look at it, You had him at 1 HP on turn 6 and then he hit the mega combo and came back to win, Is that balanced probably not, On the other hand you put him to 1 HP by on turn 6 and if he had'nt played overgrowth you would have literally killed your opponent without him playing a single card from his deck and not a AFK player or someone who disconnected but someone playing one of the best decks in the meta right now, Is it balanced that decks can kill you before you play a single card from your deck, Again probably not.
Swings and roundabouts, You can kill a player before they are able to play a single card from their deck or they can combo you, Neither are fun to play against, Neither are enjoyable for the opponent who loses to either outcome, You draw the nuts and kill someone by turn 6 not fun for that player and some players would say not balanced, They hit a combo like that and its not fun for the other player and again some would say not balanced.
so is that your justification for 55 mana play on turn 3, like „yes, but he needs the perfect hand“
Have we reached a point in HS Standard, where we can give up turn 3 if your opponent is lucky with carddraw?
what does it tell about the game balance when an entire class can either do nothing or play turns that are impossible to counter.
What kind of design philosophy are the defs pursuing here ?
We are currently living in a HS World in wich it is completely normal for some decks to achieve 60%+ winrates.
I playing since beta and i would say the game is in the worst state ever. The powerlevel of some cards and plays are beyond redicilous and playing HS in a nutshell is like: „Have no answer - your dead next turn“ and that not only counts for Druid.
We have also a imbalance in terms of carddraw like never before. Some classes draw their entire deck until turn 10 while other classes rely on discovering their cards but are still more than 10-15 cards behind.
and you didn't concede after that play, big faith mate LUL
Haha, you can imagine I was malding :D
And to everyone saying that bringing an afk deck to 1 hp on turn 5 is strong - well, most aggro decks could do that currently, even faster. I just wanted to show you the power difference between my ''strongest hand" and druid's.
I am enjoying the game currently but personally this is happening to me too often and I think it's a bit much.
HS has always been like that though. Whoever gets the better card draw usually wins. RNG decides games almost all the time. Its been a gripe of mine too for years actually. This game is basically like the card game WAR we played as kids. A 4 beats a 3, a 3 beats a 2.
IN order to make that exciting, HS has golden cards, legendaries, discovers, and animations. They also have RNG as a huge component of the game. Thats what keeps players hating and loving the game, all depending on which side of the RNG you are on.
Who doesnt love it when they top deck the perfect answer or discover it? Who else doesnt hate it when they do that to you?
HS can only get more crazy and more polarizing . Its been around for over 5 years now. Its a simple game.
Its probably time to find another game bro. Thats what I did after I realized I had invested too much into a game that isnt getting more strategic and complicated, its actually getting more silly and OP.
I just bought Red Dead 2 for PC on sale.......HS and its RNG can take back seat!! I encourage you to do the same.
Don’t understand the complaint about the damage he did early in the match.. the opponent put nothing on board, no trades, no boardclear.. ofc he is taking a lot of damage. Not playing cards that interact with your enemy for 4 turns straight should be a death sentence for every deck in hearthstone both past, present and in the future.
It should never be viable NOT to interact with your enemy at all.
I think the problem with “he needed to draw specific cards” as an excuse for why this isn’t problematic just doesn’t work because drawing cards, regardless of whether they are specific ones or not, is totally random and completely unrelated to skill.
At what point are people going to stop defending the criminal "RNG" and start defending strategic, well-thought out decks?*
Hearthstone is a card game that is heralded by its own developers as a "strategic" game. I present to the jury, evidence A.
You'll have to reference the attached screenshot, taken from Google Playstore's Hearthstone mall front just minutes before this writing.
If players don't clamor to defend strategy over RNG, this game will eternally suffer from plain-old ugly wins. At what point is enough--enough?
Strategy seems to be taking a backseat to "RNG" and unbalanced designer mechanics. Just look at the patch history to see the massive disconnect between design and implementation for a litany of revisions.
I love the diversity of the game's mechanics but simply put lucky plays taking the victory should be an outlier in the realm of probability, that's why it's called lucky--because under ordinary circumstances sh*t decks should lose to well-thought out decks on any given day of the week.
I say this as a massive fan of tactics and strategy, ala chess.
I personally think players need to wise up to this shameful status quo otherwise it won't change but I also respect others rights to think what they do.
cheers and happy gaming to all, just the same!

Appreciate the insightful post mate! I agree with you. Although I just came back to HS after few years break and still having fun :D Maybe time will come when this riggness will tilt me to the point i stop playing again.
Chill out druid players, its fine to admit your deck is broken af (which it is, everyone can see), you're not a bad person for playing it, its not your fault Team 5 is so incompetent at balancing the game lol.
Just accept the fact that the game is designed to created overpowered highrolls with godlike rng, because u know, it looks cool. If you are looking for a skill based competitive game, you are better off looking elsewhere.

Is that balanced? You be the judge.

Good thing it doesnt happen every game right!?

You are playing a card game...
It might not be balanced but it is hell a lot of fun.
Dead but dreaming
That was a decent turn for him overall I think. Cleared some minions, created some board presence, drew some cards, healed a bit, not too bad
You hate to see a turn like that for sure.

what is the odd to get a chance to play 55 mana in turn 5?

Some might say that building a deck with a turn 5, 55-mana combo is a 'cunning strategy'....
