Ah well, I’m a casual browser of hearthpwn/ player of hearthstone, so I don’t really know where I can post this, or if I am even allowed to discuss such a topic. But this is something I would really like to gain some perspective on and rant about, whether this comment gets reported or whatever…
Summary: I was trying out a self-made Galakrond quest Priest, and matched up against this face hunter player. The game basically lasted 4 turns. I played my quest and the Renews in my hand since he decide to deal face damage early via leper gnomes and kobold sandtroopers. He abruptly conceded and then sent me a friend request which I naively accepted… Big mistake.
He proceeded to send this abomination to me, and then blocked me… I mean this is beyond rude. I am flabbergasted.. What is this community coming to? I remember when players would add one another to congratulate a game well played. This guy basically tried to go face, failed and then decided to throw personal insults at his opponent for playing his hand whilst hiding behind a screen.
Did I do smething wrong? How was what I did worthy of such an attack to my person?
Btw Toxxyn, if you happen to see this, just wanted to let you know the things you insulted me with were the very qualities you lacked judging from your behaviour. The least you could have done was to hear my side of the story before blocking me and then hiding away.
No big deal there. as rule of thumb - don't accept Requests from aggro players :) There are still nice guys who add me after a cool game to share positive vibes. Hope you get those as well Cheers
Well, you can't complain about other people's attitudes when you accepted their friend request. People are free to say whatever they want even though I'm with you and hate those kinds.
It nothing really, if it bother you so much then never add those friend request from other. I just laugh when i see something like this, it not like what they say make it true
That message was funny! If someone lacks skill in this game, that is every face players. Cute :D
I only accept friend request if I won previous match. Because 1. possible salty cry is always guaranteed funny, and 2. If its a compliment from your deck you get new guy on the friendlist for good
Keep on trying and building your own decks, eventually you skill the shit out of everyone with copycat decks
Reflection of community behavior, which is very bad. Personally, when I am having fun or play against an interesting deck or opponent gets really lucky, I sometimes tried to add them and wrote them ... well played, that was fun or simple gg. I am not able, because everyone is automatically assuming, that I will start to offend them etc... It´s about people....
Did you report him? Don't let this affect you too much. This is a very solitary game full of children (or childish individuals), lonely people of all kinds... Pretty much like the Internet, or the real world, but the point is that playing online, you will encounter individuals there was no reason for you to ever interact with if Internet didn't exist.
So like the posts above said : don't accept friends (unless you're 100% positive that it's gonna be fine), and don't take this particular RNGame too seriously...
Had a few of these experiences myself. Some people are just toxic pricks like that.
Most friend requests were these toxic people so I just stopped accepting the friend requests. A lot of the time it's pretty obvious why they sent it, like in your case ( Why else would they send it after a 4 turn game where their gameplan completely fell apart. Someone who plays face hunter probably doesn't want your control off meta deck list ) .
Sometimes when it's obvious like that I give them a taste of their own medicine. Accept the friend request , copy paste something along the lines of ,,get rekt,, , then instantly unfriend. It's pretty funny imagining them seething with rage over a loss in a video game , wanting to spew some toxic waste into the opponents chat , only to get shut down like that.
Do you have a low self esteem that you actually feel attacked about this? These are people having anger issues or mental problems. I LOVE to get added from them. If they are willing to trade some more insults you can put the finger in the wound even more with every sentence.
And I actually think the insult from OP is kinda funny :D
I believe you are required to blur out the identification, as per forum rules.
Either way, dude, that doesn't reach a 4 in the 1 to 10 scale of insults and threats I've had or seen.
yup, not even a 4. I've had someone wish me and my children to get cancer. among other stuff. i kept loling and hahaing and shit talking until he eventually blocked me. the amount of fun i have when people get this insanely mad over a game is great. i mean i can definitely see them with frothing mouths, red heads veins popping out and then they add you to swear at you. and thats when the fun begins, you start shit talking, loling and they go bonkers.
Well, you can't complain about other people's attitudes when you accepted their friend request. People are free to say whatever they want even though I'm with you and hate those kinds.
No, they're not and there's a reason there are laws to prevent/deter certain abusive behaviour in real life for things that fall into things like harassment, hate speech or threatening behaviour. You obviously can't police everything and there are certain things that fall into simply being a bad loser/winner etc. There is however a general misunderstanding of what free speech is actually there for, it isn't to simply say whatever you want and there is a bizarre tolerance for online behaviour which isn't extended to 'real life' behaviour and this tolerance is one of the causes of this toxicity getting worse and worse.
The longer this sort of thing is shrugged off, the more cowards behind a keyboard will push the boundaries and its not OK. If you approached someone and started telling them they should kill themselves there can be consequences for that, the online space should be no different. Maybe then people would stop having dual personalities, their real life and then their online one.

I think your perspective is skewed. A face hunter accusing someone of lack of skill is one of the funniest things in hearthstone.

My way:
1 - do not accept the friend request and copy his battletag
2 - play another game of HS
3 - delete his request and send him yours
4 - profit

This kind of behaviour has been going on for years.
Never accept friend requests, unless the game ended when it should've and your opponent said well played, then it's safe to accept.
You can also troll them by putting your account to 'offline' so they can't send you messages, pisses them off.

It's a feature of the game that you opt into when you try to make friends. Now you know.
