I am an exclusively rogue player (4200 ranked wins) and I actually like the set for once in a while. Usually they always try to push new s**t for rogue and never have enough support cards to do anything cool in standard, so I’ve played a lot of wild lately. However, this set, they are simply adding support to stealth, Deathrattle, steal, and weapons, all of which already are existing archetypes that needed support. It’s kinda ridiculous that highlander rogue is one of the best decks when it’s not even a highlander class, so it’s nice that this expansion is pushing rogue to actually do roguey things.
AHAHAHAHAHAH you're trash at the game mate KEKW i can't believe you just non ironically wrote that. Slow pally KEKW Big Warrior KEKW and a value card having tempo KEKW
Instructor Fireheart is great combo'd with the forgotten Dwarven Archaeologist for a miracle spell shaman value generator or burn finisher. The package drops nicely into any spell shaman list;
I think this game lacked of "good but boring" cards and this expansion has a lot of them and it's perfect.
For many years, they forced specific archetypes (odd/even, jade golem, bombs, galakrond, Cthun) and the meta became stale and repetitive. It became a rock-paper-scissor game. You had a specific set of cards that only fit in a specific archetype and that's how you played that deck. "Good but boring" cards are the ones that fit in every deck and shake up the meta. You don't need to force a deck around a specific legendary.
Will it be one of the most impactful expansions? Yes probably, because they are introducing a lot of cards that manipulate your or your opponent's hand and deck.
Once upon a time the Hearthstone team nerfed the Illidan card which is now Xavius (7 mana 7/7, battlecry : both players discard 3 cards and draw 3 cards) because it was considered too disruptive for the opponent.
This kind of disruption mechanic that they used to avoid at all cost, and then introduced in very low amounts throughout the expansions (dirty rat, king toggwaggle, etc) now appears to be the norm in Scholomance. And I think this will dramatically impact the way we play the game as disruption and trying to mitigate it will be a core mechanic in most decks. Or maybe all the disruption cards in Scholomance suck and nothing changes but I doubt it.
Now is is going to be one of the BEST expansions? That all depends on how many cards from the set are being played and how much the players enjoy said cards, it's really not about new mechanics. I don't think it will. You can't dethrone the frozen throne and old gods expansions that easily.
There's a lot of unique and interesting cards in this set. There's lots of room to experiment even if a lot of it turns out to be rather meme tier in the end. I'm pretty hyped so far.
Overall high power level of the cards like the last few sets.

Frozen Throne was an abysmal expansion, imo. I'll give you the Old Gods-comparison. But there were far better expansions than Frozen Throne. It warped the meta for more than 1,5 years.

Thanks for proving my point I guess.
