just some speculation. Based on WoW lore, Scholomance turns into a school of necromancy. This might mean we get something similar to a graveyard; it’s an excellent fit. I just hope they don’t go overboard with it for priest because wild wild implode
I wouldn't make the leap that it is necromantic Scholomance. Based on the couple of leaked images as well as Hearthstone's well established penchant for the whimsy twist, I wouldn't be surprised if it was pre-Scourge Scholomance, more of a Warcraft "Hogwarts" wizardry school vibe.
Be nice if there were more ways to interact with the graveyard.
The way the graveyard works now is pretty wonky, and it's one of the reasons res priest is so bonkers. It's also kinda difficult to keep track of what's actually in it.
I'm hoping we finally get an undead tribe, but I'm not holding my breath for that.
Its never gonna happen in HS. There are very few cards that care about what died, or "whats in the graveyard". A drastic UI change like that would require a truckload of new cards that would interact with it and thats also not gonna happen. Its just not heartstone's direction, they designed the game without graveyard, and there are almost no reasons to change it now.

As unlikely as it seems, I also would like a graveyard mechanic. Though my hope is more cards which interact with the graveyard, which would include cards which interfere with it it as well. Maybe a card which would "exorcise" or purge a the graveyard lol.
Asking for graveyard mechanic is stupid as fuck. Last time a Rez deck was remotely playable you guys spammed every single HS forum vehemently asking for nerfs, even though the deck had direct counters and was only popular on lower ranks.
Even if they print counter cards like "remove a minion from opponent's graveyard" or "clear opponent's graveyard", still the Rez cards have to be stronger than these cards otherwise nobody would play these Rez decks and so your counter cards are useless. And if Rez decks are strong then you all will lose your minds like the last time.
Or maybe a card that ressurects like three to four creatures that died. And perhaps some creatures with deathrattle that destroy enemy minions. Also, lifesteal on them would be neat.
There are already a few graveyard mechanics in the game, so at least in theory, it could get explored more. Could become the new keyword, that replaces the old "died this game". The only issue might be that so far, the graveyard is considered as static, with dead minions always counting as dead and never as "revived".
I could imagine quite a few simple cards to go this direction. For example, a 3 mana 3/2: "Battlecry: Summon a 1-cost minion from your graveyard" or a 3 mana 2/5: "Battlecry: If your graveyard is empty, gain Taunt", or a 4 mana 4/4: "Deathrattle: Add a minion from your graveyard to your hand.".
The effects could also scale with the graveyard, like 4 mana 3/3: "Battlecry: Restore 1 health to your hero. Repeat for each minion in your graveyard", and tech cards like a 4 mana 3/3: "Battlecry: Remove all minions from your opponent's graveyard".
Before going crazy over Priest, consider that there are 9 other classes, that it wouldn't necessarily have to contribute to a Big Res playstyle, and that it could even give us cards to tackle such decks more efficiently, like the last one I sketched.
However, as others already suggested, I think it's more likely to be an expansion similar to Karazhan: Taking that piece of WoW lore and reinterpreting it as an alternate universe. The "academy" in the title suggests that we'll see teachers, students etc. and the logo is a bit too bright and colorful to introduce a theme like necromancy. It definitely looks more like Boomsday Project than Knights of the Frozen Throne.
And with "magic" and Mage in particular being more and more related to randomness in Hearthstone, I expect things like "Mini-Puzzlebox", a 4 mana Mage spell: "Cast 4 random spells that cost 4 or less (targets chosen randomly)" and other such stuff.
I quite like the idea of more mature, darker themes for expansions usually but I'm not too into the idea of it being very serious and focused on raising the dead etc. If its done as a Hogwarts style, slightly goofy and very magical theme then I think it could be really light hearted and fun. Res mechanics are not fun, I'm general and people tend to be pretty vocal in that they don't enjoy them. Give us some cool spells and spell mechanics that don't revolve around clearing board after board of previously killed minions.
It looks like they're going to slow matches down ever so slightly with the recent nerfs and maybe head towards a slightly more control favoured META. I'd personally welcome that, we've had a few months of pretty fast, aggressive styles of decks and something revolving around the fun side of magic and allowing games to go past turn 6 and 7 a bit more often would be very welcomed by me.
Would love a control style demon hunter deck to emerge and some crazy mage spell type things. I doubt the latter will be the case though, I believe they've said they want to move away from discovery and random effects which I accept a lot will be pleased with but I actually really enjoy both of those mechanics.
All in all I'm just really quite hyped for reveal season, if the 5th of August is the launch date then it means we don't have too long a reveal season either and the game does really need freshening up right now. You can tell its at the end of the expansion post rotation, I'm just a bit tired of seeing the same cards and with the pool being so small at this moment in time, there really isn't any room for innovation anymore. New game mode and new cards are just what's needed right now and I thoroughly enjoy the reveals and things like the reviews of those cards etc.
you already have one, just an invisible one. it still keeps track of every minion, spell, etc. played
^ This, but I would love to see more cards that interact with it in different and more creative ways, just like in Magic: The Gathering. Would be cool as f...k! :)

I hope we get a graveyard mechanic *laughs in rez priest*

That would require a whole nother interface element, never going to happen.
Hello fucker

The only thing you need ask yourself is whether a graveyard mechanic would be welcome in China. That's all that matters.
My hypothesis is: nope.
