Just before the new ladder mode I ranked on rank 8. This was my highest rank ever. I started the first season with +9 bonus stars, I thought: oh, that's more than expected. I ended up this season on rank d5-10. Thats one step over the last bonus star stage. Next season I got 8 bonus stars. I thought: "ok that's more likely to reflect my powerlevel. +9 was a little bit over the top in the respect to that I reached my highest rank just before." On the other hand I expectected to get +9 again, because the bonus stars ended on pt 5-1. So I was 1 stage over the star bonus.
In the next season I finished pt1-5. I thought: that's the region for me to finish. But I still lost one star! And with 7 bonus stars I couldn't finish better than pt10-6. And this season I am down to +6 bonus stars. In wild on the other hand, there I never finished better than Gold 10-5 I'm also on +6 stars!
So I guess my MMR in standard must be really bad? But even when my MMR is so bad, I match people with Legend card back on Bronze 10! How did they get to Legend with that shitty MMR that I have, that only grants 6 bonus stars!?
they are at a rank where they also have +6 stars left, and since mmr is based on bonus stars when you have some left, that's how you match against them. yes, the system is still very flawed and needs some major rework
basically a completely new player who has like 2 bonus stars when they start their first season can and will play against legend players who are very close to legend rank again. brilliant maneuver, blizz

Hello, mate. the new MMR system has it leaks for sure, but the Bonus Stars system works as intented. i mean, if the next season you want to get the same amount of Bonust stars, you got this season, then you have to go 5 ranks without bonus stars. That's kind of the point. If you stop, when you bonus stars end, it means that the next season you'll get 1 Star less.

How does this work for 11 star bonus. You get bonus all the way to legend so when reaching legend what do you need to do to maintain it. Assuming you have a high ish win rate all along. ?

even if you have 11 start: you'll have 2 bonus stars at Platinum 10 - 5. but they all will dissapear from Platinum 5 - onwards if they just reach legend, they'll have 10 stars next season. if they got to like top 1500 legend = 11 stars
so even with 11 stars you have to grind 5 ranks with no bonus stars (as everybody) + the grind at legend, if you want to maintain your Bonus for next season

That’s not correct. With 11 stars you will have 2 stars for the diamond 5 to legend bracket.
Of course it's not correct. Not sure why that guy is spreading misinformation like that.
Also, you mean diamond 5 to legend, not platinum. With 11 stars you'll still have a double star bonus, just not the x2 bonus after 3 wins like all the other ranks.
To keep it you just have to end on a high rank in legend at the end of the month. This could vary depending on the amount of people at legend rank and your MMR, but usually around rank ~2000 should be enough.

why you face legend players at +6 stars? easy

Edit: wrote platinum, obviously meant diamond

Because he doesn't MMR system.
There is a reason we only have 18 deck slots. HS community can't handle a simple mmr system.
