I'm really enjoying the new BG patch so far (at approx 7500 MMR). After a number of games, here's what I've seen:
1. Hooktusk is pprreeeettyyy good. A tier-1 comp can pretty easily carry you to a top-4 finish, ESPECIALLY if beasts and demons are both available during the match. Not sure if she really deserves a nerf, but according to Tier7 on HSReplay, her finish placement (almost half a place higher than Rafaam, who is #2) may cause the devs to take action.
2. Monstrous Macaw is one of the best BG cards they've printed. It is incredibly strong early, mid and late game. When someone has a golden Macaw and Baron in the late game, it can be hard to beat. I feel like this card may see some adjustment, though I do think it's a cool card. What I'm not a fan of is that it attacks, gets negative health (normally we would refer to this as "dies"), gets buffed back to positive health, lives to fight another day. I understand this is how it is intended to work, but it does feel weird.
3. The omit-a-tribe change that has been added hasn't been super noticeable to me. I feel like most people weren't really going Demons or mechs anyway, so if those tribes are omitted, it's kind of meh. If beasts get omitted though, it's super fun. (Nothing against beasts at all - just finding that the Macaw builds get a little old).
4. I kind of miss Cobalt Guardian.
Question: Did anyone else find Patches' hero power wording to be confusing when it was revealed. "Get a pirate" was a weird way to say "Add a random pirate to your hand." I know that they have to fit the HP text in a tiny space, but I was baffled by this.
Totally agree on point 1 and 2 with you. The omit-a-tribe thing is just a little confusing i think since you spend most of turn one hovering over Bob's deck figuring out what tribe is missing. And i do not miss the cobalt guardian.
I think all the pirate heroes are really cool to play. None feels terrible. Like the theme of pirates with gold and discounts and stuff but i think some cards need to be bumped up a tier or their stats adjusted. The 3-3 that sells for 3 on tier 2 for example just feels a little too good as does the bird. They are just insta buy.
Good luck to you too

If they did nerf Hooktusk, I know the easiest way is just to add a mana cost. Even though it gets a lower tier, the strength of discover is pretty high, particularly when you still get the battlecries. However, I can think of at least one cooler way:
Macaw seems straight busted, whether it becomes another spawn, a bomb or a guldran it's insane, and as soon as you tripple any opf them, including the bird its GG unless you are matched againt someone with their own bird build. Dragons and Murlocs are way too slow to counter this build which often is near enough completed much earlier in the game.
I used to like the traditional way of stacking a big cleave, guldran cleave builds feel cheap to me, its the jumping from a 2/4 to a 34/36 or whavever...i can't explain it but it feels somehow super cheap in comparison and not fun with slowly buffing them up over many turns and I don't like it. I have this problem with constucted too...if something feels cheap I can't play it.
Omit-A-Tribe should also show what tribe is missing:
Minions in Game: Beast, Dragon, Demon, Mech, Pirate
Not in Game: Murloc
This game is already as kids (idiots?) firendly as it gets. Not only the game itself is ridiculously easy to play and understand, it also has plenty of mechanics allowing weaker opponents to win against stronger opponents (I mean players, not decks). Add to this that people are still using trackers and similar stuff, because playing around a Secret or remembering what's been played and what has not, is so draining task...
Now you'd need additional line of text to tell you, which one of 6 tribes is missing, while you have the 5, which aren't, shown.
"Let's see, I know the options are Pirates, Demons, Mechs, Beasts, Dragons and Murlocs and I see that the game will offer me Pirates, Mechs, Beasts, Dragons and Murlocs. I wonder, what is missing... Damn, if only the game told me!".
Sorry if I sound rude, I just can't comprehend, what is the purpose of such request. Maybe Blizzard should also implement chess-like engine (if you don't know, they are used to come up with the strongest move) to highlight the cards you should play, how to place them etc.? Then this game would be truly idiots friendly.

Agree. I think the pirate heroes, as a whole, feel really good and none of them are trash-tier like Putricide or Lich King

Look. The missing minion type isn't some sort of secret information. There's no strategy here. This wouldn't be Stockfish telling me how to play.
One reason Bliz should do it? Because no doubt the assist programs that folks are already using are going to do it for them as well.
But like, you're annoyed that someone might have an important piece of information shown to them clearly? Yeah, you are just rude. Better Bilzzard cater to "idiots" than a-holes.

Very important piece of information. 6 minus 5.
Every change in the game, whether it is a new card or just some text to be put on the screen, requires time and effort on Blizzard's end. There are like thousands of changes that should happen, before Blizzard will be telling you, what 'x' is in 6 - 5= x.
Since we are on topic... Perhaps Blizzard should also tell you how much damage you have on board? "I have 6 + 5 + 3 + 7, opponent has 14 HP... Damn, if only I could add up to 14! Ima use calculator and whine Blizzard doesn't add the numbers up for me!".
This world is braindead. From TikTok, to media and other stuff. Idiocracy everywhere. If one has 2 brain cells left, might as well use them from time to time.

Good luck in all of your BG adventures.

Add a theoretical Tier 0. Murloc Tinyfin, Snowflipper Penguin, Target Dummy, Worthless Imp, Whelp (which links to a 2/2 instead of a 1/1 from Onyxia for some reason :P ), Sky Pirate, Wisp.

My suggestions:
- Move Monstrous Macaw to Tier 3/4
- Nerf Hooktusk in a way that his Hero Power does not work on Tier 1 minions
- Buff Jarraxus by decreasing Hero Power's cost to 1
- Replace Junkbot with Force-Tank MAX as either a Tier 5 or Tier 6 minion
- Upgrade Maiev's Hero Power so that the received minion gets +1/+2
