I was in top 500 legend in wild and i got 11 stars.
If you are lower legend rank or rank between legend and diamond 5, you will get 10 stars.
For every 5 ranks lower, you will gain 1 less star.
Untrue. I finished at diamond 4 and got an 11x star bonus for June season. Had a 10x star bonus previous seasons, finished legend in april and that did not grant me an 11x star bonus.
I’m not liking the system at all. It’s unpredictable and I have to win WAY more games to get back to where I was after a season reset. I finished Diamond seven at a 65% win rate and got eight stars. So not only do I have to play 30 games or so to burn through my bonus stars at Gold 5, I then have to gain 25 more stars without a bonus just to tread water. It used to be a consistent 20 stars, without the extra 30 games. It’s pretty much impossible for me to hit my skill cap by the end of the month because because I’m spending almost the entire month just getting back to where I was.

I think it's based on WR beyond D5 and active gameplay. I played to legend this season at about a 70% wr. Stopped playing ladder on May 5th the game I got legend.
I dropped from L800 to L9700 over the month not playing. I received a 10 Star bonus for June.
This clearly indicates it's a combination of ratings. If it were solely WR and rank I should have received 11 stars. Does 1 extra star upset me. No, it's 1-2 games up to D4.
Players are too concerned with this. It's already made it twice as easy to hit legend as the previous ladder format. It also gives substantially more rewards. Just enjoy.
Why do people keep saying it's easier to get legend now? I used to reach legend with old system, already made it with new one and I wouldn't say it's any easier. Yes, maybe you need a bit less of stars now, but winrates dispersion is so 50/50 now, sometimes you can play a ton of matches in D5-D1 range and get nowhere. Gone are the glorious days when you could just pick some broken deck like Secret Paladin or Trogg Shaman and breeze from rank15 to legend with stable 75% winrate, now it's all about getting that pesky 51%.
Guys stars are probably calculated based on mmr brackets, like if your top ~10% of mmr you get 11 stars and so on. Each season mmr is recalculated so you might lose stars or might not lose stars (can even gain stars, probably). I lost one star on NA server where I didn't play ranked entire last month. It's not that hard to understand -_-
My goodness, you and a lot others do not understand the real problem.
Of course you might lose stars over time, 1 would definetly not be a problem at all.
But Blizzard clearly stated, if you do not play a season you do not lose what you gained before, aka 1 star would have been alright. I did not play beside four games in standard and lost FOUR.
So either Blizzard made a wrong statement once again or you are punished hard if you play a handful of games instead of not playing at all. BUT this does not fit the result in star loss for both modes for me either. In Wild I lost with two games played one star, everything is fine, probably working as intended.
And beside that in the first season of the new system I climbed to Diamond 5 easily with a high winrate. I did not play the second season. I started the new system with Legend MMR of 10 stars because multiple Legends, some of these pretty high.

Wrong, at least at what Blizz said. 11 stars for the top percent of players, does not include 500, could be more or less. Below that your MMR shall count, means your winrate etc. Not the rank you achieved.
Not too hard to understand at all, or too hard for freedom ppl?

Because it takes tons of games less. It's way less grindy. The games itself are the same as before.
The whole idea of a double bonus star system terrible imo! Some main flaws:
-MMR, which is the core of the matchmaking is hidden, so players don't know what really goes on.
-You don't face players of the same rank, so they decided to hide the rank of your opponents so you can't see how nosensical the ladder really is.
-A win can get you between 1 and 22(!) stars, making climbing ranks a weird and swingy affair. The winstreak bonus was enough already, now they doubled up on it.
I get they want players to face opponents of equal skill while still feeling good climbing, but I think they underestimate the players too much. People have stopped caring about those leagues you can just breeze through already.
But Blizzard clearly stated, if you do not play a season you do not lose what you gained before, aka 1 star would have been alright. I did not play beside four games in standard and lost FOUR.

Not too hard to understand, right?
Well, you don't play, you don't loose stars.
You play (crappy and a few games only), you loose stars.
Not so hard to understand, right?
And although you finished pretty low, you still got to keep most of your stars.
But of course, it's all Blizzards fault. They should give away stars (and everything) for free, those money-hugging double-crossing liars!

At first, I did definetly not play crappy. And it seems to hard for guys like you that Blizzard stated something different and even if they mean something like you stated (play nothing, lose nothing, play some, lose a lot) would be beyond stupid.
And you know why? I play against Plat 5 players now, as my MMR got down to that. Haven't seen so much trash before. I am actually faster as I keep my winning streak so far :D
I am not even mad I got downranked in the MMR so far. It makes more fun seeing heavy misplays from garbage players.
I would close the thread now because I don't care anymore, yet Blizz lied or said something stupid again and you still lick their balls :)

Well, I'm happy for you then. Good to hear that despite you not being able to understand basic logic, there are still players worse than you. Enjoy it while you can, and please find the salt thread the next time someone "lies" to you...

Ah yeh, not understanding basic logic, I see.
It is very hard to understand it, absolutely. For Freedom People maybe.
Your called concept is just beyond stupid and not hard to understand.
"You played zero games? Okay, everything cool. OH WAIT YOU PLAYED ONE GAME GET PUNISHED YOU LIL MOTHERFUCKER." Not at all something logical, but hey, internet hero says something different. How is your fedora today?
And btw, the system is completely unfair for these players I play against now. They are Platinum garbage und meet someone who played multiple high legends. For me great, for them completely fucked up and it just showed how stupid the system is. But hey, you are an internet hero, so whatever.

Back then there were Rock/Paper/Scissors Matchups. Way more than there is today, also simply because of less RNG cards.

On release, DH had the best wr ever of any deck according to Blizzard's data.
Q: If I missed one season, will I lose my star bonuses when I return?
A: No, you won’t.
Q: Will the value of my previous season’s MMR be exactly same as the new season?
A: Technically no, although the change will be very small and the “value order” will be kept (Player A whose MMR is larger than player B in the last season will still be ordered as such). Mathematically, a re-normalization process takes place at the start of each season to keep the distribution in a nice bell-shaped curve.
Quotes from the QA before the first season of it. Another blatant lie.
I made 4 games in standard last season, 2 in WIld for 5 wins.
In Wild I still have my 8 Bonus stars, Diamond 10. It's fine, everything ok. In Standard I dropped from 10 (Legend) to 6 Bonus stars (Plat 10).
So in the end you will lose bonus stars pretty fast if you don't play. Vice versa it means I will play even less because I won't play much to get to higher ranks because there are simply better games out there to waste my time on.
The worst thing about that is another false information from Blizzard, because I could have played more last season easily, now I am heavily punished. Of course I play against worse players now and might get more win streaks, but that's not for sure in this game if it wants you to lose.
Previous season finished on R1 and now I have 9 stars. I don’t understand this system...

My friend ended d10 last season and he has 10 star bonus.
Untrue. I finished at diamond 4 and got an 11x star bonus for June season. Had a 10x star bonus previous seasons, finished legend in april and that did not grant me an 11x star bonus.
I got a higher rank this season (Platinum 5) than last season (Platinum 10) and I LOST stars from 8 to 7!
I got to the top of my star bonus then stopped, and only lost a handful of games along the way. So annoyed.
because he have high mmr
I finished April with a higher legend rank than May.
Last month I got a 10 star bonus, this month I got an 11.
I’m not liking the system at all. It’s unpredictable and I have to win WAY more games to get back to where I was after a season reset. I finished Diamond seven at a 65% win rate and got eight stars.
