Even though I have no troubles reaching Legend, ranked is what makes me hate this game. I had a day off and managed to clear my daily gold earnings (100 gold from wins alone) playing Casual and Battlegrounds alone.
This would never ever happen in ranked. People being bitches, constant streams of the same deck. Yes, I know - everybody wants to win - buth there are like 5-6 (or more) more than viable decks - yet people blindly pick whatever is on top on hsreplay.
I would be pleased not having ranks at all. And if you ask why I climb then? simple - chest.
I have enver touched ranked before they had implemented rewards.
The reason I asked is that I find some people take ranking in this VIDEO GAME so seriously. Sometimes I see people say "I reached legend, Now I'll play fun decks", that statement is so weird. They act like they get paid when they reach legend as if reaching legend is something they have to do like a math exam or a job. Sometimes I see people bragging on each other and insulting others for their ranks. it's just a video game. Why would someone care about ranks in a video game? I don't get paid or receive an award for climbing.
I think this is a great question. The rank system represents the only in-game measure of progress. The higher you rank, the more rewards you receive (pre-legend), so that could play a role.
I feel like there is more to it than that. Might play into some reward response ingrained in our minds.
I don't play rank, like, at all. I only try to reach Diamond for the chest & rewards only. Then I go relax on Casual, enjoy the artwork and animation of the game. For me Rank is so stress and not at all enjoyable, so why bother, in the end, video game is just to have fun.
I know people disagree, but I wish casual counted towards golden hero portrait wins. I would have no incentive to play ranked really. Having to play ranked in any game makes me play less.
I know there are definitely people exactly opposite to me, but personally I wish Blizzard games were kinder to those who prefer fun > tryharding (not that there’s anything wrong with either imo)

Never thought about that. The idea sounds nice but I would then not make the portrait for casual wins golden. I would prefer a totally different fun one for real casual players be it wooden or whatever
For me, a game needs a purpose or a goal of some kind. I'd be fine without ranks if there were something else to play for. But if you said "would you play as much Hearthstone if there was nothing to be gained", then no, I wouldn't. I'd probably still play, but it would be a lot less than I play right now.
Same thing for Battlegrounds. Ranks get you nothing, yet without them it would feel pointless. I'd still play for the joy of the competition, but it'd be less often than I'm playing it right now. Ranks are, for the most part, meaningless, but that little number ticking up and down gives a feeling of something being "on-the-line".
To answer your question: yes i would IF there is any kind of progression or reward for it. If i dont get anything for playing the game, there is no point for me to play the game more than 2 or 3 games. Those would be fun and thats it. Counting the games towards the golden heroes would be enough for me tbh. But there is no reward whatsoever. So i never play this mode. And since the new ranking system is there i play much less Hearthstone at all, because its such a bad system. But thats a topic on its own.
You still play against people with the same MMR as you but there is no ranks in the game, would you play hearthstone?
Stupid question.
This is just Casual...

Yes, but actually Casual is full of new comers so it's not really enjoyable

Why wouldn't I?
I mainly play casual anyway trying different decks and ...sometimes... having fun... Ranked sounds like work to me ;-P

People out here saying this is a stupid question but the result is 50/50

Yup, I play a lot, just it only Casual games and it sucks that it doesn't count toward hero games played.

Those who voted no = Donald Trump

Wtf, there is already casual. I only play it for certain decks or I don't want to get stressed and anxious on the ladder.
