They have a massive esports following... If they were discovered to be manipulating winrates, They'd be ripped a new one... I can't imagine any scenario where rigging outcomes for random players would be beneficial enough to risk the backlash of being caught rigging the software. It's pretty silly.
I hope most of the people who post about the game being rigged are just coming down off a rage quit, and can think more reasonably once they've cooled down... Otherwise they're likely also against vaccines, and hide from airplanes.
Agree with above post. Additionally, why would a company go through all the troubles to do the required analyses every time. It requires a good understanding of the meta, since that constantly shifts. That would ask a lot of Blizzard, without a clear benefit.
Occams razor is indeed applicable here; the easiest solution is that Blizz wouldnt go through the trouble.
How love this gullibility. Let me apply Occams Razor to SETI.
Dear SETI the easiest solution is that there are no aliens. Stop seraching the skies. Waste of taxpayers money. I mean if there were, why wouldn't they just reveal themselves? I mean why the fuss keeping hidden and all those 'sightings' that even the Pentagon marvels about? Well probably the aliens have no 'clear benifit' to reveal themselves and fear the 'backlash of being caught' existing.
In HS it's the same. Those 'sightings' that the game is rigged. Can't be. But we still got tinfoil SETI to search for aliens.
Not even close to being similar, I really hope you're just joking at this point because if not, I'd really suggest you learn up about scepticism and reason rather than dumping your time into a card game. Go check out street epistemology and apply the questions there to your own thoughts.

Ok, so I'm sorry for the double post, but I actually think it's worth spending a moment on the wg15 post, and it's not to make him feel bad in particular. A lot of folks post and think like this.
So he describes a story where a guy plays a Fist of Ra-den and burns 3 of the charges on 1 mana spells. He comments that it must be a one-in-a-million chance that the opponent got 3 Reliquary of Souls off of these 1 mana charges. Furthermore, he remarks that his opponent misplayed by using the one-mana charges, because it was a control matchup, and thus somehow this was a particularly bad play.
Now, as some have pointed out, instead of it being a 0.0000003% chance that the Ra-den player got 3 Reliquaries, it was actually a 100.0% chance, because Ra-den only generates legendary creatures and Reliquary is the only 1 mana legendary in standard right now. So right away, we are in one of these situations I mentioned earlier in the thread where a person has decided that the game's RNG is rigged against him with no information to back this up, and in this particular case, an actual PROVABLE situation where RNG had nothing to do with it. But nevertheless, wg15 is totally convinced that something has prevented the proper game function from working as intended.
However, the threads insisting that Blizzard manipulates RNG are only my second favorite type of thread. My favorite type goes like, "I played perfectly, but RNG fucked me and this is why I can't win!" Now in this post, wg15 wasn't commenting on his own play, but on the faultiness of his opponent's play. In reality, however, not only is it not a misplay to use Ra-den charges on 1 mana spells, but the ability to generate Reliquary of Souls is the SOLE ("soul", get it?) reason that Ra-den is included in that deck. So you have a player certain his opponent is misplaying when in reality, that player is missing the entire intention of his opponent's deck and failing to realize what a devastating play generating 3 Reliquaries can be in a control v control match. 3 extra cards for fatigue and each one being an untargetable, life-stealing, taunting, big creature. That sounds like a pretty good anti-control measure to me.
So everyone take note when you see stuff like this. I'm sure all of us picked up on this particular set of errors in this post, but I wonder how many of us (definitely including me) have made such a blatant, 100% objectively wrong judgment in the past. Take serious notice when you see stuff like this, because these sorts of faulty assumptions run rampant all over this forum.
EDIT: @MProdigy
I followed most of that, but why would we randomly assign "scrub", "pro", etc. and not actually assign criteria to each? I didn't get that part.
Sometimes I’m my head the idea makes sense but I write it down wrong.
I meant if we can somehow know if the player is a pro, streamer, new player, veteran, etc, we could see if the metrics are consistent across all player types. A lot of people here claim that streamers have better luck or new players get screwed and so forth. It’s really just a mother variable to capture and control for. I’d love to see how they use numbers to decide nerfs because that would be more interesting to me. I wonder if it’s advanced or basic. Just because it’s a big company doesn’t automatically mean they have a seasoned statistician running the numbers.
That makes even less sense than the conspiracy theory does.
How do you think the game would know that a player is a streamer and magically give them better luck?
And in what world would it make sense to give new players WORSE luck? It would give them better luck, because that would make them more likely to keep playing.
You guys sound like my grandparents talking about how they don't trust computers and touching them is gonna give them cancer or whatever. It has to be literally anything but you causing you to lose because you can't take responsibility.
I said people in this site have these beliefs, not myself.
IIRC isn't it a known bug that Fist will summon Reliquary an unnaturally high amount of the time on a 1-mana spell?
It is well know that Fist will spawn Reliquary on a 1 mana spell. I have faith that blizzard will reduce it's summon rate by at least 50% when the next expansion is released. Until then I wouldn't expect this to change.
They have a massive esports following... If they were discovered to be manipulating winrates, They'd be ripped a new one... I can't imagine any scenario where rigging outcomes for random players would be beneficial enough to risk the backlash of being caught rigging the software. It's pretty silly.

I didn't shout and if you're aware already then a forum post isn't going to get you any further. If you can't see the difference between this and the example you posted (and meant it seriously) then I wont get far on here.
Ask yourself some basic, open questions about what the company would benefit from this, what the risk is, why they would do it, what evidence there is and if you can answer them all with demonstrable, repeatable data/evidence then go for it. I have a sneaking suspicion we will be waiting a long, long time for anyone to even come close to bothering though.
This thread, and others like it on this site are just clear examples showing that people find it much easier to believe what they want to believe rather than believing things that are true. These people would probably be taking part in witch hunts once upon a time. Or dancing to make it rain. Or sacrificing virgins for a good crop yield.
I often wonder when it if mankind will get past this nonsense because I honestly feel it holds us back. There are just too many idiots and what's worse is they are wrapped in cotton wool and protected by society on the whole, so theres very little reason to change how they are.

Right, because those beliefs are similar to believing that a corporation that holds patents in rigging might rig their games.
Yeah match making can't be rigged. It is completely random and based on your MMR. Kappa
What is your point here?
just another fanboy, just like you.
Damn, the F-word, aka universal tool to send any discussion off the rails and discredit anyone with a different opinion without respect to strength of their reasoning and arguments.
About man-made randomness not being "random enough": If you really want to convince people of your theories of Blizzard being the big evil, rigging can be proved very convincingly using the vast datasets available and big experiments can be set up. Come on, man, I know you want to!
If your MMR goes up when you win to face better players, that is plenty to try to give you a 50% winrate. As mentioned in the OP, the best winrate possible in high legend this game is around 70%. If there were less random factors, it would be higher, but even maintaining a 60%+ winrate over 100+ games takes considerable skill imo. Good thing you can blames mysterious formula to punish YOU specifically if you don't succeed at it.
What the Hesh even is this community? Are you seriously contemplating whether a big gaming company making loads and loads of money would risk cheating on its own playerbase? This whole thing is just circlejerking, it's almost as dumb as flat earth theories, which is saying a lot. We'll never arrive at a conclusion, until we get to see the entire raw programming code for Hearthstone we're only wasting our time here.
Shouldn't you guys instead spend your time arguing about card balance? How about you blame a specific card like Dragonqueen Alexstrasza for your loss? That would be way less frustrating debating about. How about you stop playing Hearthstone and instead start playing games like Legends of Runeterra which try to have way less RNG in them? I would suggest ceasing to play card games all together, but I really wanna see someone leave this game and then board over to LoR only to then start complaining about rigged matchmaking over THERE.
That would be hilarious.
Actually, I even have something to add: Bad matchups happens, yes, but consider this: Every time someone has a bad matchup, someone else has to have a good matchup. And yes, streaks happen, get over it.

There is no such thing as 'better players' to face when the MMR goes up. There are just more Blizzard Intended Rank-up Decks you are confronted with. There are only better decks than others as the skill floor is extremely low. There's only too steep RPS so that you can concede to the target audience after two turn because you know you can't win.
That there is skill in the game is a pleasant fiction to the masses. If you have a 60% winrate over 100+ games that doesn't mean anything skill wise. It only means that you play the right mindless deck eloquently. There is a difference between skill and cunningness. The masses confuse the two all the time.
Skill is in a direct relation to the a difficulty of a deck. The harder it is to steer a deck to victory, the higher the skill level. Aka, the higher the skill floor, the harder it is to win a game, the higher the skill level. The lower the skill floor (as it is since conception of HS) the more aggression, the more tempo, the lower skill needed to win, the more randomness and RNG play a rol in ranking-up.
Since the skill floor is extremely low in HS, there is no such thing as 'skilled players.' The floor is kept low to serve the target audience maximize pack buying. And the target audience are not the 'skilled players' but the pack buying masses. To keep them playing they need to win enough. That is where the rigging comes in.
Do you really think Blizzard's PhD's and Harvard graduates don't know how to keep you playing and buy packs?
In the end SETI is looking for aliens that don't exist. What a waste. And the 'fast data set available' you are talking about, do you really think you will find anomalies in there? Do you really think it is air you're breathing now? You are living in a dreamworld my friend and Blizzard's 'Matrix' sorts it out for you.. Indeed, there are no aliens.
My point is that match making depends on which deck you are playing. If you switch to different deck you'll play against different matchups. This should be random, but isn't. I dont care if I'm matched against ppl with better mmr. I'm just pissed when I play certain deck I see different opponents then when I switch to different deck. This is not something new. I believe this system is there for quite some time.
This thread, and others like it on this site are just clear examples showing that people find it much easier to believe what they want to believe rather than believing things that are true. Right, because those beliefs are similar to believing that a corporation that holds patents in rigging might rig their games.
Clearly a somewhat tongue in cheek analogy but the point still stands. You clearly cant process words and information and differentiate between different things.
If you think a patent on 'rigging' is anything like what you and others are saying it is, then you clearly struggle with common sense. I'm tired of saying it but fixing matchups to keep similarly skilled players in the same grouping is absolutely different to making sure you come up against rogue 5 times in a row.
As I've also said, the exact same things are said about fifa and EA. So which is kore likely?
Scenario 1, butthurt players come up with a conspiracy about cheated out of wins by a company which 'is known for this' (the patent thing is repeated constantly on the fifa forum as well), accusing the company of rigging their games to make sure they lose which according to these geniuses, is done for player engagement and to keep people spending money.
Scenario 2, these internet warriors are not as good as they think they are at said games. The game is not rigged seeing as proof that it actually was would be devastating for both companies. Both games have fairly sized esport followings and prize money available. The skilled players consistently achieve high rankings, somehow being immune to this coding that cheats the players in fairly modest ranks and keeps them there. Both companies have clarified their matchmaking systems, confirming they are fixed to keep the game competitive and ensure that the system matches peole of similar win rates together. The internet warriors completely misunderstand this and say 'they even admit they fix it!!!' Whilst completely missing that if this meant what they thought it did, then the lid would would blown off the scam for all companies and everyone would be in agreement that what they have done is unacceptable, probably resulting in some form of legal action.
I'm really pretty done with this, it's quite scary how many people are just so simple. You carry on with flawed logic and bad reasons for thinking what you think. It's always dumb, but hurt players on forums that bleat on about it being rigged and fixed against them. There's a reason nothing has ever come of it, no legal action, no fines, no evidence that is clear these companies are doing what is said.
It's the same for most conspiracies. Most experts that have studied something for years will advise X but Xxjimmybob2519Xx on some internet forum, with no expertise or actual understanding of the situation knows better. Whilst the examples I gave were clearly different they are all examples of stupid actions taken because people don't bother educating themselves about things, they read a headline and not the actual article, they go along with whatever belief makes them feel better, they don't make good decisions and that leads to groups of people that make bad decisions in general. Decisions based on thoughts and feelings, confirmation bias and flawed logic rather than evidence. If they can't reasonably discuss a game, what about what they choose to do with their vote? What laws do they not support or even continue to support because of their ridiculous beliefs? Bad logic and reason spills out into general life and unfortunately ends up affecting other people.
Like I said, I've seen the EXACT same complaints and awful evidence on other forums. Right down to the hilarious patent example and exactly the same 'reasons' for the company doing it. Awful reasons whichbmake no sense but multiple player bases clearly cant understand what is meant when terms like player engagement are used so they run off with their own, flawed explanations on what it means. HOW are multiple companies doing this and no one has done anything about it?
Please give a decent answer, I'm open to changing my mind but years of the same things on different games have given me the belief that I wont get any kind of reasonable explanation.
Not even close to being similar, I really hope you're just joking at this point because if not, I'd really suggest you learn up about scepticism and reason rather than dumping your time into a card game. Go check out street epistemology and apply the questions there to your own thoughts.
