I've been playing a lot of magic and hearthstone lately and this month really gave me the taste of the limitations of the idea of pitting players with similar rank against each other.
So this month in Magic, I somehow flew through ranks in draft and ended up in Platinum rank, early in the month. I don't usually end up in platinum so for the rest of the month I have just been 0-3ing drafts and getting bummed out.
Here in Hearthstone, its the same deal. I get to Platinum and eventually hit a wall and the rest of the month is just frustration.
What becomes the incentive to ranking up if you have no fun for the rest of the month.?
I would love to draft a deck someday and play against the masses and the best man wins. I would love that scenario. You know...something that actually pays off for playing the game every day for 5+ years.
MMR is only active while you have at least 2x star bonuses. When you hit 1x, MMR no longer applies, you'll be matched only against players in the same rank bracket as you. Like, if you're at Plat 10, then you'll be facing Gold 1 (kinda of a final boss for them) and other players in the Plat 10-6 range. It's the very same thing as with the old system, you were at Rank 15, you would be facing other Rank 15-14 players. This didn't change at all.
Plat 10 is the equivalent of around Rank 15 in the older system, counting the stars acquired. That's where the majority of the players playing the game actually were. So you ARE playing against the masses, no MMR involved. The masses just seem to be better than you.
Lanko, you did not understand what this guy wants :)). He wants a completly random match making system, regardless of rank/MMR. Meaning, he is like plat 10, he searches for a match, and he could face literally anyone playing hearthstone at that moment. It could be legend players, a bronze player, a new player, the guy at rank 1 legend, ANYONE.

So basically you're pissed 'cause you can't win games in platinum? 'Cause you get matched by other platinum players? And they are to strong for you?
I would be saying the same thing, no matter what I rank I get. Yes, that is what I'm saying.
I would rather win 80 percent of the time, rather than 49.9% of the time. Because against the masses, that would probably be the case.
Well Casual got you covered dude. Play against all of your desired masses.
MMR in casual.
You actually don't know how the MMR works.

So basically he asks for total chaos in rank.
simple: just try different deck. your deck is not very effective on ladder
I was in charge!! - Patches the Pirate
Do they have MMR in arena? This is where I would prefer the chaos.
Cultrus is right. I don't play tier one or net decks.
I'm sure everyone would like to be winning 80% of the time, but obviously the math on that doesn't exactly work out.
