As stated I am picking the game back up the game. I stopped after Kara and I'm a FTP player. Since returning I have done all the solo adventures that offer packs and I have 5300 dust from cards I had that went out or something. Anyways, I am trying to figure out how best to proceed. Usually I would save up gold for expansions to open wings and such, but since I am now so far behind , are there any previous adventures worth opening or should I just save for the upcoming? Also are there any "must have" cards I should craft, or just wait till something needed comes up. Sorry for the text wall, but any tips would be appreciated. TIA
Did you have a good amount of legendaries before you quit? If yes then you should play wild instead so you wouldn’t fall behind .I’m not joking, wild is actually cheaper than standard.
For legendaries part, Zilliax is the best legendary and it is widely used in wild so I suggest crafting it. For other legendaries you need to state what class you are interested in.

Fixed it for you.
Pretty sure mage in standard is the definition of clown fiesta
For standard, you can play a free to play version of tempo dh to climb. If you enjoy it you can craft the 2 AoO legendaries and 1 epic and you have a tier 1 deck.
First of all, it is being told that the upcoming adventure will be free so no need to save gold for it. Secondly, with 5300 dust there are many decent better decks you could craft right now and still keep some dust for the future, most of them of the aggro type: Face Hunter, Tempo DH, Spell Druid, Murloc Paladin, Zoolock, Totem Shaman.... Any of those should carry you easily to D5, which means you will be getting 4 packs + some more goodies every month. There is also Egg/Enrage/Tempo Warrior which is a very good deck and not that expensive, but it requires Risky Skipper from the Galakrond adventure, so you would need quite some gold for that. But that adventure offers 5 Legendaries in total (incl. Reno who is a staple in all Mage builds currently) + quite a few Epics and it's probably worth the money
Wild is cheaper for sure! 5300 dust is enough to get you a tier 1 deck.
I would recommend you elaborate on the type of playstyle you prefer. If you prefer grinding ladder, I would suggest you craft a tier 1 deck, stick with it and avoid crafting general legendaries. However, if you enjoy playing a variety of decks then go for legendaries used in multiple decks, like zephyrs or zilliax.
Catching up to standard would honestly take you a while as all of the deck excluding hunter require a few too many legendaries.

From my experience wild can be unpredictable and unbalanced, but if you enjoy games with big plays and outlandish combos then you will probably find some enjoyment there.
There you go. I've written what I wanted to say in a more constructive manor so that you can go back to trying to remove the stick that's stuck up your arse rather than writing whiny posts.

Its bad advice. Its true wild has more variance, and more meme decks in low rank. But it is not at all as unbalanced as you say, and not as clown fiesta as standard when you go above silver. So in a more constructive manner, dont give advice in things you dont know anything about.
Besides your second part doesnt even make sense. Its you who whine about everything every day...

I would rather recommend you playing wild instead of standard. Here's a very good video from Solem, that should help you.

Did you get the free deck for returning players?

I can't argue with you on that point.
