This is not a salt thread bad mouthing the developers, but an honest feeling I have that the start of the new hearthstone year has been pretty under whelming in new features, new brawls and content compared to last expansion.
Like last year by this time we had:
The expansion which was overall much more balanced and fun imo to play
Lots of New brawls
A brawl based on the expansion
New Easter event
Single player content about to come out with 5 wings
This year for the most "content filled year" of hearthstone:
New expansion and class, but has required 2 balance patches to get it near enough balanced
Few new brawls
One small battleground update
Like anyone else kind of wishing for not more new cards of massive content updates, just more news about new stuff at all. Like it would be fun even if we had a brawl with decks with each of the primes in it or something. Just feels like a super slow start of a new Hearthstone year
This has been comically bad. Terrible expansion, awful new class and atrocious meta. Plus the worst. MMR I have ever experienced in over 4 years of playing HS.
This game is a steaming pile of dog feces at the moment.
Honestly most tamed meta in a loooong time, despite some offenders (mostly Rogue cards)
Mostly Tempo, Tempo.
We are going to go back to the toxic Combo-Aggro-ResPriest Rock-Scissor-Paper Meta soon enough again once more Aggro fodder and OTK opportunities get implemented with Expansions 2 and 3.
Overall Powerlevel is quite tamed right now, but its going to get out of hand very soon (next expansion hits approx in early July)
This is all subjective and as such, you'll get a whole number of different opinions which vary from terrible to great and everywhere in-between.
Personally, I'm playing more than I ever have before and flicking between 6 or 7 decks with others I've yet to try. Would be good to know more about what the single player content will be but I'm sure that will drop sometime soon.
It also wouldn't surprise me if this expansion was a little low key. They work on things way in advance and for all we know, a good amount of time has been taken up by the new class and the new game mode due in the next expansion.
If you're not enjoying it, it might be a good time to take a break and come back when the solo/next expansion drops and see if it takes your fancy there.
As for the META, I've literally seen the exact same comments on it for years now and it isn't just this game. So I don't really bother with giving the complaining too much thought. Go and look back for say, 3 years and you'll see:
The game is dying, the Devs are lazy and/or greedy, the META is stale, X class is too op, nerds happen to slow or not enough, the game is boring, there's not enough content, not enough freebies, RNG is ruining the game.
I could go on bit no matter what just launched or is due to launch and what state the game is, nearly all of these are said at the same time. They are just constant complaints and like I said, they aren't just exclusive to this game although I do find this player base on the whole to be one of the worst for serial complaining, rudeness and skating the game of any game I've been active in the forum's etc for. There will always be happy people and unhappy people, I'm enjoying being in the former group to be honest.
Also, people will say they are unhappier than they actually are. They might be really wound up in that particular moment but they do enjoy the game. Too many people keep playing and discussing it yet say it's awful for me to believe they genuinely think that. Most of it is in the moment salt.
I wouldn't call witchwood "the most balanced" expansion, had witchwood not com with Genn, Baku and shudderwock it would easily be recognized as the 3d weakes expansion (not counting adventures), in fact some people argue that if you dont' count those 3 cards witchwood is in the top 3 (bottom?) weakest expansions. and the pwoer level gap between odd/even vs the rest of the set was very noticeable, so yeha it wasn't balanced, it was an expansion of extremes.
Meta is terrible right now, mish-mash of outrageous value through more hero cards (Galakrond), which we already we knew was garbage for the game, and insane aggression like turn 5 ragnaros. We've had bad metas before, it'll pass, but its worrying that it is the first expansion of the year and the power level/creep is off the charts already. DH was clearly balanced arouund SacPact, then its removed from the game- bad planning or what?
Battlegrounds needs a big new update as its carrying the game right now IMO. That mode needs constant churns and cycle to stay fresh, a new hero here, a new card there... its not enough.
Its completely atrocious. The time of experimentation is over and its nothing but DH and Infinite value rogue. Almost none of the new cards are being played, galakrond rogue is literally the same deck as last time except with op secrets, hanar, and stunner. DH was a huge mistake in my opinion. They had a chance to make a cool new class like monk but instead chose the easy path and letting the players test DH out for them when they knew it was going to be op. Lor came out just in time, I am pretty close to just deleting this gane at this point until they sort out a lot of stuff but they don't even seem interested anymore.

I mean... there's a world-wide epidemic going on. I would be surprised if it didn't impact the Hearthstone team that everyone is working from home.

"New class"
"Content filler"
Oy vey

I'm playing and trying more deck in this period, compare to others.
Don’t the expansions always come out in April, August and december? For like the last 6 years?
This was in response to inzan1ty
Atleast the new ladder system is kinda cool.

Oh, ok thanks for the Info. Hoarding more gold is always positive, when you don't plan to purchase every expansion xD
