1) I'm sure plenty of people here don't want anyone to get better with this deck because they hate it already. I don't begrudge you that, but there's a whole rest of the forum to post about how much you hate it, so please just don't here. Frankly, I don't much like playing against the deck either, but I happen to have the cards for it, and supposedly it's really good, so it's what I'd like to get better at playing.
2) with that out of the way, I'm sure the deck is good as I've lost to it plenty, but holy crap can I just not win with it or basically anything else. I legitimately think I have a 25% win rate right now across the board, which is kind of frustrating since I'm very much used to hovering around 50% regardless of the meta. I have no dreams of ever reaching legend, or even getting close, but I would like to give as good as I get or something near it after around 20 games.
So can anyone point me to an actually good guide on how to play this deck? It seems to me like I get my ass handed to me without any chance against aggro (and for my purposes aggro means any deck that can put out over 4 damage a turn on average across 8 turns, so any Hunter, warrior, or warlock deck played right now), and my swing turns seem really ineffective against any highlander deck or rezz priest because they just smash my board and then out-value me.
Its easy. Get random lackeys that give you random value with random spells and random dragons. Then play hanar when the opponent looks like they are gaining ground and dash any hopes they have with random secrets. Oh and don't forget to make random 0 cost cards
That’s basically it. Play cards that generate new cards. The more cards you play, the better. Sooner or later you overrun the enemy with your endless value.
Which version are you playing? Maybe you just need some adjustment to the deck, some early board presence. I believe the best list atm doesn't run shadow step and evis, to be more consistent in early board presence. I wasn't fond of these changes, but I tried it and won a bunch today.
Galakrond secret rogue is a slot machine. Infinite value but if get the RNG hate you wont be able to advance. I took it to diamond 3 a couple of times but I could not stay lucky enough. So I went with the more consistent face hunter to complete the legend grind this month.
Because this 'game' is so heavily controlled through weighted RNG, you have to recognize what type of luck is being generated and respond accordingly.
Deck is not broken or annoying there are literally 3-4 deck with more winrate nobody talks about face hunter with inevitable face damage and coming here bashing a deck that become tier 1 in near past.
Also a single card is able to change consistency of this deck so in order to win more you have to change cards on daily basis according to daily meta.
I've not seen anyone here complain about the win rate of the deck. I don't care how many wins or losses a deck has, but when a deck is getting it's 3rd Dragonqueen alex even though it didn't even start with one it it's deck, or discovering the perfect spell on turn 15 through the 20th lackey played that game thats annoying. Rogue just has too many consistent feels bad' plays. At least face hunter is a well tuned deck that beats you fair and square, regardless of the way it does it.
I also recently starting playing the deck. Playing against it I could see it was really powerful. I also lost plenty of games to the deck. However, it has a weakness to decks that push a lot of pressure and smash face. Without any taunts main that can be expected. And sometimes other value based control decks will beat it.
I think Rogue in general is a very high skill based class. It can be very powerful, but wins on very narrow margins. It always feels like you have to be calculating and planning many things with the class. And small errors will cost you games.
You need to play very differently depending on your opponent. If you are facing aggro rush you need to fight for board and tempo. Use your Blackjack Stunners early to gain tempo, and control the board. If you are facing another value based control you need to get as much value as you can, and plan for a way to burst them down. Hanar can really mess with a control decks game plans. Kronx can be abused with Shadowstep and other recurring cards. And use your Ethereal Lackey's to find spells to help you burst down your opponent.
You should win vs all control decks and struggle vs aggro. Versus aggro go for early board asap, even naked 1/2 sap dude, Hanar is always a keep, bamboozle your opponent, 1/2 cat, backstab. Some streamers say that devoted maniac is too greedy and rather play eviscerate. You can also try Spymistress 1 mana 3/1 stealth which bunnyhoppor plays it.
I have no dreams of ever reaching legend, or even getting close, but I would like to give as good as I get or something near it after around 20 games.
Hello, user! First of all, to have any sort of success playing rogue (or particulary any class or deck) you should ask yourself about purpose and end point goal. For example you want to reach a 500 win portrait or you want to reach diamond 5\legend\bronze 5 for the first time (doesn't matter what rank you choose, you simply need to have a goal).
Secondly - you start to know your deck. You must keep in mind all of your available resources and your deck potential in every game you play. Knowing your deck gives you ways to win and what to pray for when drawing cards.
Thirdly - you need to know current meta decks. Hsreplay, hstopdecks, etc. Facing any opponent must give you a clear picture of what deck you are playing against. Knowing your enemy gives you wide board of decisions to make while playing. For example you are playing against gala priest and he dropped his 2x plague of death and soul of mirror. You might think that you now can easily spam the board with minions but suddenly he drops fully invoked galakrond and kills 4 of your minions and you now have no board. Or simply against dragon hunter you max your Edwin on turn 5 and leave him alone on the table. Your opponent plays Rotnest drake and you are nearly lost this game.
Next stop is a work on your mistakes. Your should learn every loss you get. Getting all sort of knowledge on why did you loose your last game gives you precious experience and future win potential.
And the last but not the least - playing rogue you should always think ahead 1-2 turns and take time on decision making. Nowadays hearthstone (i am not talking about aggro-aggro match-ups) is more like a game of chess. 1 mistake can cost you a loss. I made legend with Malygos rogue two previous seasons, so believe me, i know what i am talking about :D
That's it for now, user. Good luck.

Just play cards. Play proactively. Save a Lackey for togwaggle.

Hmm, the point is to maximize the value from your lackeys:
In addition, if you run shadow step and have 10 mana, keep in mind that you can double kronx on the same turn.
Plan your hand size 1-2 turns ahead if you have Galakrond and the 4th invoker in hand.
Cheat as much as possible. If you have a conscience, and the play you just made is making you feel a little bit bad, then you're playing it right.

That deck deserves to die. Disenchant all cards you can... If you play this, you are a bad person and should feel bad. Period.
Why don't you uninstall the game instead?
I don't mind people playing broken decks . Why wouldn't they. Blame Blizzard . Not the people. Btw I don't play dh. It's boring.
