I used the Legend Cardback literally 3-4 hours before I switched to something else. If you want bragging rights you have to go for the championship cardbacks or the really old ones you can't get anymore.
can u reach legend with galarok secret rogue if all u face is aggro DH and hunter and u do not want to switch decks to play lowlife aggro decks. I dont think u can.
There's a big problem with it being this easy and the ranking system. Throughout when you enter Legend you are stuck playing people still on the ladder. Therefore you gain minimal legend pts for winning and you lose more than you can gain.
Also that's why seeing the ranks is disabled right now because Blizzard knows that Gold/Plat players getting shafted playing Legend players is an issue.
So climbing in Legend is nearly impossible without and dumb winrate which shouldn't be the case. I've been winning at almost a 60% clip and losing rank in Legend slowly which is hilarious and infuriating.
I think the claims that reaching legend is too easy feel a bit misguided as legend isn't really about being the best of the best but more of how much time do you sink into the game. Top 100 legend would the hyper competitive place but even then those players will always simply have more games played then others.
The new ranking system allow for an accelerated climb and a shorter path between the final five ranks. I don't think anyone reaching legend this month were incapable of getting legend before just the new system makes it a little less grindy.
If you feel legend requires the extreme grind then you may feel the new system is a cheat code. If you feel top 100 legend is the real goal then it really doesn't matter how high the bottom numbers go.
I dont think legend was ever a place for a selected group of people, but people with time to climb, even when not all legend players are extremly competitive or the creme the la creme, just, people with enough time in their life (for one reason or another) that could be spent in the game to grind and be legend,. And even if you reach legend it doesnt mean you want to get to the top, a lot of players rank up and then wheter dont touch ranked for the rest of the month or play meme decks.
The top spot of legend rank is still there, you want to be competitive, well, go for rank 100 or higher, the tryhard mode is still there, just, there are more people in the floor now, it doesnt change it in any point.

I see truth in this, I went on a 7 game winning streak in legend and one lose to a d7 sent me back that entire progressions about 1400 from 5k. It doesn't feel rewarding at all.
I imagine you have to be in the 2k plus legend to hit the plateau and start getting consistent legend matches.
In currently sitting at 3k and still facing d5-10 opponents.
I think bliz will do anything to get new customers. one day everyone will get a legend card back, even if they aren't high rank. for you its a game, for them its business.

Good business at that. remember when they make everything accessible in World of Warcraft? did that increase the numbers or new players? more people unsubbed than ever before, my guild quit. why? because if everyone can see content why even try. sometimes it is the journey that matters and not the end result. This will not have a positive impact on the game in the long run.
Here's the thing. For a long time it was borderline impossible for anybody who plays casually to hit legend. Before the days of rank floors, you had to maintain a positive win rate across hundreds and hundreds of games to hit legend. That was a time investment that most people just didn't have the ability to make. Each change that Blizzard has made over the years has made it easier and easier to hit legend but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It still takes a lot of time and effort to hit legend. By my math, with a good win rate, you would probably JUST BARELY hit legend if you play for an hour a day every day for the whole month. Under normal circumstances, not that many people would be willing to commit 25-30 hours to this game every month so the number of legends would stay pretty reasonable (maybe under 10k). But with people in quarantine who have nothing better to do than to play HS, that's why you're seeing like 28k legends in the Americas.
It will die down and, when the dust settles, I think only something like 1% of players will earn the title of legend each month. Besides, if you feel like your "legend" title is cheapened by there being 28k legends then just get into the top 1000 and then you can brag about being in a more exclusive club of legends. From there, you can set your sights on the leaderboard. Then, you can entertain the idea of trying to compete for Rank1 legend.
I think it's fine. It is easier to hit legend and it seems like many more people are making it into legend. I believe it's almost 100,000 people on NA at this point.
BUT - that also encourages deck diversity... I hope. If your only goal is making legend then you might be willing to mess around in legend with new ideas.
If you want high legend (top 1000? top 5000?) you can play the standard nonsense to get there.
I'd rather feel like the grind to legend is less brutal each month.
I intentionally tanked my MMR to find out just how deep the rabbit hole goes and I ended up ranked 27910 among legends in the Americas region. I actually lost 3 games in a row and saw no change to my rank. I'm also being matched up against Bronze 8 players at this point. I'm saying all this to explain to you that there are definitely nowhere near 100k legends NA. I would know, I'm at the very bottom of the heap.
Instead of legend why not have a master and grand master ranking or divide up legendary rankings or something. So high legend say top 5% are something else like "grand master".
I am happy that legend is no longer as much of a grind. It should be most accessible to those who have the time and willpower to try and achieve it. And it's not like the ranking stops at legendary. If anything, the ranking becomes even more competitive since you now can see you exact ranking in your region.
The one change that I would have made for reaching legendary after the new ranking system would have to it reward a different card back, instead of the card back that was awarded prior. Essentially meaning those that was to 'show off' their former legendary status still could. (I don't have any interest in that, but I imagine there are people who would).
Also, it's not like legendary is now a freebie. At rank 5 you are still competing against other players with highly competitive decks and a good understanding of the cards, and you still have to endure the fluctuating between ranks depending on who you get matched against and your draws. You still get exactly the same lose streaks in this format as you did in the others, the only difference now is that you need a net overall gain of 15 wins instead of 25 wins.
When they released the new rank system I thought it would be harder to get to the legend, it's true but not so much because of the star bonus and the new Demon Hunter class, their set is very focused for aggro decks. That is why it is very easy to rise to legend with that class.
I'm not complaining about the new system because everyone will have a free legendary.
It used to be around 15k legends on EU, now its 50k. Thats says enough. They really need to fix this!
The legend cardback doesnt mean .... anymore.
It never really did.

I think that there should be 5 stars in diamond :v maybe then it would be harder cause now legend is too easy to reach
Let none survive!
I think that legend cardback just looks rly nice :3
Let none survive!
getting to Legend is just a matter of time spent. It's a grind, now less "grindy".

I 100% agree with most of the posts here.

what i dont get is why once ur in legend u keep getting less rank even if u win. like whats the point of that then
