Ive been playing HS since the Old Gods expansion, and this is the first season that Ive played seriously and hit Legend for the first time (thanks partially to the demon hunter class and how enjoyable it is to play).
Currently sitting around 15000 legend. For the experienced players who hit legend multiple times, does the new rank system make it easier to hit Legend? Also what are the stats on how many people hit legend every season?
First of all congrats on hitting legend! In spite of the changes to the ranked ladder, it is still an accomplishment.
It is easier to hit legend on this ladder. This is due to the fact that the games with no bonus stars for win streaks was reduced. The fact that there are no win streak bonus is what makes the climb from 5 to legend the hardest part of the ladder and this system reduces it from a net 26 wins to a net 16 wins from 5 to legend.
With the new system I was able to hit a personal best and hit legend on day 1! So it is easier than it was in the past, but don’t let people bash your accomplishments on here.

Another thing is that there are floors below which you can't fall if you already reached it. People who experienced a hug loosing streak/tilt know it helps a lot.
Please elaborate, is it due to the current meta/ lesser no. of stars required? Or is it the quality of opponents?
It's way easier to climb for everybody mostly because of number of stars. 15 stars is the same as a climb from rank 5 to rank 2 with old system. For example, I naturally climbed to rank 2 on my NA account multiple times by just completing daily quests.
The quality of opponents is not a big deal for players who would be in legend anyway, maybe opponents are actually slightly stronger, but it's way less significant since climb is much shorter and they will not meet top players during the climb. For players who would normally stuck at rank 4-5 it changed a lot since they play against opponents of equal MMR now, not equal rank. It doesn't look like somebody lost anything because of this changes. I was around 2400 place when I hit legend in the middle of last month and this month it was the same, so I was not hurt by increasing amount of legend players at all.
Meta is not important in this case, the only impact meta have is that the faster the meta, the faster everyone will climb.
For 24/7 HS gamers it is and always was easy. But HS is just one of many games in playing atm.
The grind to legend was always annoying for me even with a positive winrate. I don’t want to play couple of hours every day, so i’m glad that it’s possible now without 100 hour grind.
Im playing since beta and now i’m 3 wins away from legend, it’s not like i wasn’t skilled enough to reach legend all these years before but i never wanted to spent that much time on HS, simple as that.
What i’m enjoying the most is the fact that you can reach legend with many different decks atm.
Yea I used to see legend players as hardcore gamers, but now I think it can be achieved by spending a little effort understanding the meta and of course couple hours to play a few games a day. And to not tilt too hard haha
The journey to Legend was quite interesting for me I made several card changes and playstyle changes along the way when I found myself losing against certain decks often (Eg. going more aggro against priest). It made achieving legend quite a satisfying achievement.
I think with the changes to ranked, Blizzard is trying to make the experience a bit more accessible, which is in the good direction. Not sure if I will attempt Legend again but if the meta shakes up and there's a new deck I fancy, Ill give it a go.
25 games vs 15 games sure its easyer to do 15 then 25 but not by that much as each1 make it... the only reason so many is legend is becouse new class is overpowerd + you get free legendary when you hit it next morth it will be alot lower again

Yep. The new system makes it easier as pointed out simple by almost halfing the wins required from 5. Also, hyper agro as I refer to it makes these things kinda jokey, like odd pali or face hunter days. Blizz released a new broke as ever agro/comb/draw/face class, and then threw in some cheap silence and an ignore taunt legendary for good measure.
I'd argue if anyone played DH to make legend they had the easiest climb EVER, and I bet a large portion of the player base hit legend with DH.
Even seasoned legend players like myself had a super easy climb. I literally barely played a few matches a day and still easily hit just chilling, not playing DH. In fact I was just talking to an RL friend about how I can't remember seeing this many players in legend at once since release. (And that's when this game had more try hards than ever).
It got easier to hit legend...sure but that's not the main reason why there are more legends now than ever before. The reason for that is quarantine. People aren't leaving their homes, they're bored out of their minds. So, naturally, many people are playing much more Hearthstone than they ever did before. It turns out that if you're decently good at the game then you are good enough to hit legend as long as you put in the time required to climb.
This was my first month hitting legend and, at first, I felt like maybe I only hit legend because it had been made easier. But then I just kept winning and winning and winning. My rank when I hit legend was 11600 or so, but I managed to climb to right around 1000 (currently 1469). I realized that the thing that was holding me back from hitting legend was that I used to only play between 50-150 matches per month. This month, I've played somewhere around 300-325 matches. That's why I finally hit legend.

Journey to legend before:
Journey to legend now:
It is not about "getting serious" but the path for that become way too easy.
Wow, new and exciting topic. Not.

I have never bothered getting past rank 5 in the old system, it just felt too grindy.
I actually enjoyed playing DH this season, I guess the additional rewards were also incentive.

English is not my native language, so, with a high probability, mistakes were made.
it’s easier but still a though grind.

Congrats to the OP!
BTW, I obviously suck because it's not easier for me to get to Legend...but then again, the game is all luck anyway...amirite?

Thanks for the responses guys!
