He's the only card I currently don't have in highlander mage deck. Been deciding to craft him or not since I'm pursuing to get golden hero mage by winning 500 ranked matches.

You can replace for something else but he is much better than Ysera because you can play and freeze/mass removal the enemy board in the same turn, play Ysera vs an agressive deck is give an open shot for them.
I've been playing with him in highlander and he surely is worth crafting. Even if you combine it with something cheap it's pretty good. When it lives to next turn ... this is where the fun begins. Sometimes he also gives you freeze/board clear when you need but don't have one on hand or Pyroblast for ez lethal. If you run Frizz Kindleroost it's even better.
I'd add it's very good to combo with Conjurer's Calling and has nice follow up the next turn - you can value trade one of the 10 drops and go conjurer's again to put some pressure. Sometimes it spawns another Kalecgos + 10 drop which is really cool.
After playing Mage almost exclusively for last 2 weeks, I'd say 10 - drops are pretty much winmore. Yes, both Reno and Kalecgos are amazing cards. But the deck to beat is DH. If you live to turn 10, you are good, why would you need a 10 drop?
Who can afford to keep Blizzard in hand till turn 10? Unless you have just literally topdecked it, you probably had to use it already.
10-drops in Mage were used to combat Priest boards and Galakrond decks to some extent. But now DH is absolutely the most popular class in the game and Hunter seems to be competing for the 2nd spot lately. I wouldn't say Kalecgos is of any use in these match-ups.

That line of thought is a bit flawed. Sure, you may face a lot of DH, and against any very aggressive deck, 10-drops like kalecgos are usually useless. But if you don't have cards like Reno (hero) and Kalecgos against non-aggro opponents, or even against a mirror, your deck becomes really unfavored to win.

You can't win against everything. If you could this deck would be tier 1. Priest is 50-50 with or without Kalecgos. Galakrond Lock is very hard to win with or without it and Reno too. Other than that I don't really know what "Control Decks" you mean, since vast majority of the meta is DH, followed by Hunter. Also both Lock and Priest are in a decline.
The deck already has tons of late-game. Alex + Khadgar combos + Solarian + Box + Zeph is plenty. This is not Warrior to drop 10-drop after 10-drop. Another thing is that Reno isn't really a threat. It's a board clear. Really late board clear. It's good basically only against Priest, maybe Big Druid (which I didn't see a single one in last 2 days).
It's all about numbers. If you face mainly DH you build your deck to beat mainly DH. I'd rather have weaker occasional match-up, than my main match-up.

In my experience Galalock is one of the most favorable matchups for Reno mage. Galalock has 2 mature win cons - Gala board, Dragonqueen board and two smaller - Kronx and Zeph. You have plenty of resources for removing the boards the warlock creates w/ The Amazing Reno, Malygos's Flamestrike, Zephrys the Great, Rolling Fireball, spell dmg + Blizzard, nova + doomsayer, Reno the Relicologist, even simple minion trades, not to mention Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron and Solarian Prime as they're not as reliable. The rest is to keep out of Alex /set to 15/ + Gala claws + kronx battlecry. But sometimes Kronx is played to draw Gala. You just need to not play into warlock's board removal as he can swing easily with 1 mana board clear.

that's just like my opinion, man :)
I am looking at stats. My personal experience is very polarizing. It pretty much depends on who has answers to whose treats. Early Galakrond is hard to beat, because your board clears, even though you have few of the, are limited. One of them literally HAS TO be dedicated to the Galakrond board. And they generate boards of smaller minions every turn with very low resources spent and you have to spend actual cards to deal with them. I've had games, when I won easily and games when I got crushed. Overall the math-up is considered unfavorable looking at raw stats.

what the fuck you're talking about? especially against aggro Reno is one of the best cards to have on 6 (or 5 with coin)

My god. We are not talking about this Reno. Use your brain sometimes before you write.
A win-more card is a card that's very good, but you can usually only afford to play when you're winning, and then it helps you win in a more overwhelming fashion. Think Kel-thuzad. They're too situational or slow to play on parity.
Kalecgos is not win-more because you can play it on 10 to look for an answer, for more tempo, or for lethal. It comes out very late, and it sucks if you're against aggro and you don't reach turn 10, but that's not what people mean by win-more cards. It's a very flexible and powerful card that can help you fish for answers while also remaining a must-kill card in the subsequent turns.
Can someone tell me if highlander mage is better than galakrond secret rogue pls? I need to craft Hanar for rogue and alex for mage so i dont know what to do...
He's the only card I currently don't have in highlander mage deck. Been deciding to craft him or not since I'm pursuing to get golden hero mage by winning 500 ranked matches.

Imho its a must, because sometimes its tempo (a body next to removal) and sometimes you get a needed spell.
Kalecgos + Blizzard / Flamestrike / Polymorph is a very strong turn, since he is a thread next turn.
Ysera is good but too slow, Kalecgos gives you straight up options.

I don't run Kalecgos or Reno or even Malygos. My late game vs control decks is Khadgar + Power of Creation / Conjurer's Calling / Tortollan Pilgrim combo + Dragonqueen Alexstrasza + Zephrys the Great. I don't think you need more late game. You need stuff to combat aggression.
Edit: Frogot about Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron and Solarian Prime.

Craft it. It's very good.
This card is insanely strong - every controldeck would play this card for sure if available.

i would have said sorry, but you can take your insults and stick it right where the sun doesn't shine
I appreciate you posting this thread, I am in the same boat considering whether or not to craft him.

Galakrond Secret Rogue is top in the meta right now.
