Though I can feel with all to people who are frustrated by being faced with certain disliked archetypes, I'd just like to offer some thoughts that actually helped me finally enjoy the game again:
- you could always complain about a "bad meta" after almost any new expansion, because some really crazy mechanics will evolve that just feel awful to play against (of course depending on what type of deck you are playing). But what do you expect? If a new expansion doesn't really bring anything new to the table, then what's the point? Especially in wild you can never level out every possible card-interaction. I like to choose from a large pool of possible mechanics, even if this carries the potential for unfair combos.
- you can actually do a little experiment to recalibrate your attitude (I did! No joking!): Create a prefabricated "Classic Deck" from your favourite class and play some expert-training-rounds against the Innkeeper. That's what HS was like before all the expansions! You take turns in building up a board, you trade, play some spells - and after around 10 turns the game is over. And while this type of gameplay actually has something soothing about it, it quickly reassured me that this is NOT what I enjoy. I want crazy stuff to happen. I want to be excited and stressed and frustrated and exhilirated by finally having beaten that one hated archetype with my meme-deck.
- try not to worry too much about what you don't like to play AGAINST (because there's no way of influencing that), instead focus on what type of deck you actually enjoy playing. Then just play. Appreciate the games where you are faced with an worthy opponent who plays an interesting deck and is able to positvely surprise you. For all the Top Tier decks you're faced with: Pat yourself on the back for knowing after turn 2 what your opponent is playing.
I know this might all sound a bit too philosophical - but hey! It's a sunny day - and I've finally taken my pills again ;-)
I agree with most of what you said. I love that evolve shaman is back, and even if it's not the strongest deck I find it a lot of fun to play. I think you make a lot of sacrafices in your deck building though to play this deck, with at least 6/8 cards that are generally useless if you haven't built a board or got the right draw. Playing a GalaLock who has drawn all the invokes they need by turn 7 and plays a fully upgraded gala with all the new demons that are now in play is not crazy, it's just plain broken. I know you've got to draw the invokes but I would argue that lock invoke cards are pretty strong and have no negative effect on your deck even though you must include them. Decks that are capable of big swing turns need to be designed to have a downside to compensate for those swings. Unfortunatly most highlander, galakrond and too a lesser extent DH decks just don't have that downside.
It's impossible to answer some of the early andmid-game minions these days, and you have to answer them or they kill you in two, if not 1 turn. So you have to get ahead on the board, because none of the answers are adequate. I'm talking about the early and mid game...end game aren't so bad, cause opponent uses their entire turn playing them, and can't play multiples.
Answer cards in this game need a massive overhaul, be they simple one like taunts, or spell removal, spot or board clear. They are all so stupidly weak with minions dropping on to boards now. The game feels way out of balance. Either we need more health (cause the game is so much faster now, 30 doesn't feel like enough) or we seriously need class wide intorduction of cards like defile, but for everybody.
The get ahead, snowball and win BS has gone to far right now. And HOLY FUCKING SHIT BLIZZARD NO MORE SNOWBALL 1 DROPS...how the fuck they could think a card like vilefiend is ok in tempo class with loads of other OP cards I have no idea - did you learn nothnig from Tunnel Trogg...nothing from Mana Wyrm?? I mean ok so the nerf is comnig but FOR FUCKS SAKE STOP HAVING TO RELEARN WHAT YOU (and we) ALREADY KNOW
When you only rely on an incredible stupid and emo fantasy character to succeed, most of the time, things are not going to turn out well. ;)
Illidonger is so edgy that he could be an anime protagonist
Haha, yeah. Sometimes I am ashamed to admit I like watching some anime, too much stupid shit in that area of entertainment. The good stuff is usually quite acceptable, but the bad one makes me sick. But well, what can I do? XD
No watch my decks. Played Quest libram paladin from rank 5-4 . .At the start of the expansion i played control warlock. but yes iam the dh player with 0 dh ranked games. :)
To be honest, I haven't found a deck I enjoy so far. But, haven't played a ton either.
I think part of that is just how difficult it is to find a little room to breathe in the current meta. I prefer those 30 minute matches that everyone else seems to hate so much.
the most ridiculous not-mentioned card so far is overgrowth. i've made a check list to see how many of my opponents would have had it on turn4/turn3 with coin followed by glowfly swarm.
100% had it. 18 out of 18. i cannot call how freakin' ridiculous this is. this makes my blood boil so hard. xD
Something I've learned over the years: If you want to enjoy a Hearthstone expansion, don't take a single step into HearthPwn or Reddit.
And why do you let the opinion of random people on the internet influence you?
I expected to get this reply.
It's mostly an unintentional psychological thing. If I face a certain deck and lose to it a few times on ladder, I'll probably think I need to adjust my deck, or maybe I got unlucky. But when I go online and see everyone complaining about it, it gives me a feeling of hopelessness - like there's nothing I can do to actually win against it. It shifts the blame from me as a player to the designers. In reality, I can always improve my skill as player and deckbuilder. And as my skill improves over time, maybe those decks won't seem so overpowered at all. Of course, Blizzard can improve on their part as well, but there's nothing I can do to influence that.*
If you enjoy something, then go online and everyone's trashing it and exposing its flaws, chances are you're not going to walk out with the same opinion. It's undeniable that people are often absorbed into a hive mind, whether they know it or not.
*Of course, we can give feedback to the designers, but we cannot change every card to our liking at every whim. Most of the feedback I see is mostly, "Priest OP you suck Blizz hurdy durr," rather than actually constructive discussion on what should be changed.

It's funny how you expected a reply like mine, but I didn't expect one like yours. :P Nice explanation, dude, makes 100% sense. Good job! :)
