Although the meta will change with the next expansion, I’d be surprised if there are many mage decks that don’t run Reno while it’s in standard.
He already has almost no gold. If he is about to farm for the adventure, he will most likely have 0, when the expansion hits. You are assuming in the new expansion there will be no more important cards than Reno, which is false, because we don't know. Also, even disregarding expansion, Reno will rotate out in a few months either way - it's a short term investment.
If you are a F2P player (which the guy seems to be), you need to carefully manage your gold and not spend it on the cards, which will rotate out soon (yes, few months is pretty soon for a f2p player). I can't imagine, how one Reno can be more beneficial to a F2P player, than 25 packs of the newest expansion.
Also there is a chance Reno WILL become irrelevant - all you need to have is an aggro meta. Reno already was dropped at the start of this format, simply because turn 10 clear was a ridiculously greedy play vs DH and in most games the card was simply sitting in your hand doing nothing. And then you were dead. Only after nerfs people added Reno, Kalecgos and other greedy cards back, simply because entire meta slowed down.
There is no evidence behind assuming the next meta won't be aggro focused. And if it will be... Good luck having Reno, but no gold to buy a single pack of the new expansion.
I don't agree with most of what you said apart from one thing -'There is no evidence'. Pretty much invalidated most of your own points.
So without evidence you advocate spending weeks of farming gold, while I without evidence advocate to wait and see. Pretty much it invalidates my points, not yours :)

No I just said I can see Reno being useful in future metas. I gave no advice at all about if they should buy the expansion.

Well, if I was the op and read this opinion, I would assume you are on the side, which suggests to buy the Adventure. But alright, let's have it your way, you technically didn't advise anything, you are right.
Difficult to answer without knowing your collection and what you like to play. There are good cards in GA but if you just want Reno, it might prove too expensive
Reno is the card I'm most interested in, but the other useful cards are cool too.
I've been meaning to play mage for a few months and was going to spend some dust, but I had to hold back due to the state of the meta. I generally like midrange and control decks.
If you enjoy the RNG based class that mage has become then I guess Reno is a card worth having.

Too right. If you like pretty colours, explosions and don't care if you win or lose then mage is the class for you. It's a lot of fun even if random Pyroblast seems to go your own face everytime.
Do you think it is still worth buying Galakrond's Awakening for the cards in late August 2020? I've mostly been playing druid, rogue and demon hunter since SA launched a few weeks ago.
I'm thinking of crafting Lady Liadrin and playing some paladin as it seems a popular and powerful deck in the current meta. I already have a copy of High Abbess Alura.
When it comes to crafting new cards, I'm trying to favour Year of the Phoenix cards to better future-proof my collection. They'll be playable in standard until early April 2022.

The baddest thing about GA is that if takes too long to grind (if you don't have the gold). It's almost two months where you get a couple of cards every one and a half weeks.
For DH Frenzied Felwing is on chapter 4 (very good for aggro), while the good cards for rogue and druid are on chapters 1-2 (they are replaceable). Mage, warrior and hunter get the best cards, which are found in chapters 3-4.
If you have most of the cards from Scholomance, you could grind for 2 months, buy GA and then start grinding for December's expansion. You could also just wait until December and spend all but 2800 gold on the expansion, wait for one or two weeks and decide if GA is worth it or not.
I'm leaning towards getting it even though the cards will rotate out of standard in April next year. But not in any rush either - none of the cards seem central to the classes I've been playing since SA launched. Might be something for September or October weekends.

It wasn't worth it back then, and it's even less worth it right now.
What cards do you need from it exactly? Other than Risky Skipper there's really nothing there that sees play in current meta decks.
Frenzied Felwing is really good in any aggro deck and Rotnest Drake is op in any hunter deck with dragons. But they're not worth the price if you are looking into meta decks.
Even though I played standard mode, I didn't play heroic mode of Galakrond's Awakening. Is the prize, golden versions of the cards or giving sth different? Is it worth playing heroic?

Completing heroic mode gives you two card backs for the EVIL and LOE storyline respectively. Nothing else.

I'll inform you guys that I bought 3 chapters already and will obviously get the last one.
It was an ok investment. Not getting new cards for days feels kinda boring, but whatever.

I want him for his battlecry tbh. Screw rez priest.

Do as you prefer. Just avoid buying by impulse.
