According to that dev blog post, there are two pools, one for legend and players still with bonus stars, and the rest is for rank. So why do I keep matching with nothing but high diamonds? By diamond you should no longer have any star bonus, so you should not get matched about Legend. Isn't it absurd that those who made legend and people in diamond, plat or even gold play against Legend?
At first I was Wild top 3000, played against mid-plats. Played some for fun, having finally reached legend, and my eyes popped when I started getting matched against gold... I was top 3600 by that point. Why is there not a MMR floor? You used have the opportunity to fool around after hitting rank floor, now you just trash your MMR. And when you finally have the itch to play more seriously, it's not fun for either you, or your opponent who's getting butchered.
By 2500 were 10-8 rank diamonds, and at 1700 now it's diamond 5. Why do I have go through a bunch of meaningless games for me (while screwing lower ranked players), just so I could have some competitive games? And judging by some streamers, it's the same for all the legend players...
'Screwing lower ranked players' You have a little complex of superiority. If you're getting matched with diamonds 10-8 players it means that you have their same MMR, cause the first option to get matched is by similar MMRs so let's say you have an MMR of 1783 (To say a random number) and these diamond players you're facing have the same MMR then you'll get matched with them. While MMR is not the perfect measure for skill it's probably one of the best ones, players with similar MMR should have the similar skill, at least on the long run. So stop being a condescending prick.
Its all fine, you have similar hidden rating. I mean just imagine seasoned legend player that just started few days after you :) Plus u queued WILD at a time of lower player density.
I remember my first encounter at rank 5 against ~4000 legend rank few years back, gotta say i was excited xD
Dude, i was getting matched up with gold and plat players too in the beginning. What else would you call me encountering gold 1 or plat 6 or plat1 player but srewing them? Should I ever be matched against them, just because I tried some hipster decks and trashed my MMR? And in a couple of evenings I rose from 3600 to 1700 legend rank. Do you honestly think why MMR was correct when I was playing against Plat 10 players on the same day I reached legend?
The way it currently is set up, MMR is wildly inaccurate.

But my point is why do I have similar MMR? Why after reaching legend, I can drop all the way down to gold MMR? Why in a couple of days, my MMR can go from mid plat to high gold and back to diamond 5??? My skill obviously did not change, only the decks I played and how serious I was. So when I want a challenge, I first have to screw over lower ranked people who are grinding just to reach my level again... And If I ever want to fool around some with some new deck, I will again trash my MMR, and round it goes.
I'm completely ok with my bad rank and it doesn't bother me whatsoever
The new system was implement specifically to avoid "screwing lower ranked players". The star bonus, the mmr matchmaker, it is all meant to do so and that is why this shouldn't be happening. I'm fairly certain that the system isn't working as intended. What is the point of having 10x star bonuses to help bad players avoid good players when trash rank players are getting paired against legend rank opponents? It makes no sense whatsoever.

Yeah, the system tries to gate keep players from reaching legend, frustration is seen by blizzard as a great incentive. If you have already hit legend you have less incentive to buy more packs. Because this game is losing players, and many of the active players are actually bots, blizzard has implemented a new system where they match you based of a hidden number, your mmr, so a legend player can play a bronze 10 player if the system wants to make that match. They hide the ranks from people climbing so they don't get upset, but if you a friend a few people you can find out the neighborhood of your mmr. Personally, I have friended 3 people at top 500 in wild, and every one else was still climbing so at rank. In standard I hit legend second day and shut down my standard play until I am legend in both. But right now I cannot seem to win enough against that mage deck to hit legend in wild and I don't want to craft it because it is sure to be nerfed.

What are you talking? It was never as easy as now to get to legend...
I've played 50 games after reaching legend for the first time in wild. I have played 1 game against another legend player. There is no reason to play another game on the ladder if I can't even move up in legend. This has been a real disappointment.

If you win games, you will move up the legend ladder, no matter if the opponent is legend or not, so not really sure what your point here is?
The only reason you will be matched with people outside legend is because your win rate is incredibly low, which in turn makes your MMR very low. In reality, the game is telling you that you are not good enough to face legend players, so it will match you with lower ranked players to give you a chance of winning. Would you rather be matched with better, actual legend players and then win even less?
