I got legend the first time in December the year Hearthstone came out. I made a post on this site complaining about several cards in face hunter, and how they needed nerfs. Of course, all the butthurt facehunter players defended the cards, and were all like 'if it's so easy, build it yourself and get legend'. Six days later, I had my legend cardback. The deck is now unplayable because approximately half of the deck has been nerfed. (Abusive Sergeant, Leper Gnome, Undertaker, Knife Juggler were all on the list. I think there might've been a couple others, but it's been a long time) This was before the wild/standard split.
I got legend twice after that, once over Christmas holidays when my brother-in-law and I were spamming Hearthstone games for days while he was visiting, and one other time just randomly laddering. Both these times were in Wild, with the second one putting me at #20 on the server at the end of season. I think I used mostly my custom reno warlock for both of those ones, but they were a couple years ago too.
I -might- do it again someday soon for the first time rewards, but a random classic legendary isn't really worth it. I think the only ones I don't have are Brightwing and the new priest one that replaced Prophet Velen. I can't even really be arsed to rank up anymore because the rewards aren't golden cards anymore, just a few random rares and packs whose combined average dust are less than the golden epic would cost to craft.
this is the first month i'm very close to hitting legend for the first time. But i'm also pretty close to giving up, because it's so exhausting and frustrating. I played about 30-50 games between diamond 3 and 1 and i still didn't reach it. And now i wanted to know what's your experience in climbing to legend rank. Do you have fun or did you just want to get there once?
And those who made it multiple times: why do you do it?
For me it feels like a horrible experience and i just do it because i always wanted to reach legend since i started playing HS.
the game is a grind.....bots hit legend there really is nothing else to say. I did it many times....no 2 dollar worth reward would ever make me do it again not worth it. Keep grinding probably take you 100-200 games. The game is rng man roll the dice and deal with it.
I was Diamond 1 and have proceeded to lose 6 games in a row today. Question is...how does one deal with such adversity and bad luck?
How can someone with such bad luck ever hit legend?
Sad sad panda here. :(
I got to final boss and proceeded to lose 5 in a row. Battled all the way back to 2 stars away from legend before losing 8 out of 11 and going all the way back down to D3-2stars. It has been a wild ride but I finally managed go on a nice little streak and make it to legend for the first time today and it feels epic. Just don't let the losses tilt you. If you can make it to Diamond 5, you can make it to legend. I promise you. The grind just gets super real because you can no longer benefit from win streaking and you're playing against other people who are also laser focused on hitting legend. All told, it took me around 55 wins to go from D5 to Legend. You can do it!

you just keep grinding ..that has been the game since release day. You made diamond 1 congrats you are a legend player like everyone else who makes rank 5 it is the same thing. you are as smart as the number 1 legend player you just have better things to do than play hearthstone. Ive done it multiple times with aggro decks. Win or lose in 2-3 minutes...boom legend. too bad the rewards will never be worth my time.

No... I can't. Just don't have the luck. I'm literally the most unlucky person in the world. Don't know why I even bother playing let alone breathing anymore. Wish corona would just come for me and end my misery.
I have played this game for many years, but casually, because of study, work or other games. The only time I was close to legend was in un'goro, when I reached rank 2 but after some loses I gave up, didn't want to grind that much. A friend challenged me this month to see who could reach legend first, and with the quarentine and all, just tried, got to diamond 10 with mage, to diamond 4 with highlander priest, and then got a really good streak with galakrond warlock. Hope everyone that wants to achieve legends gets it in the near future ^^
as others have said don’t get tilted. I went for for the first time and got it fairly easy from R2. Before that I was trying stuff out etc. I also took a break if i lost twice in a row and I think it only took 8 games or so. When you loose really try and look at why. Don’t blame rng. I also tweaked my deck according to what I saw.
Hit Legend one time in Standard. Last month I was at rank 1 5 stars 10 min before the season ended, lost to the final boss but i took it with a sense of humour as i already have my cardback.
But oh boy, the new ladder system... Don't get me started on the rewards, for me it's way worse as I was always aiming for the golden epic. Now no golden cards at all, even when you reach legend, just wow... Absolutely a downgrade if you're no starter.
And regarding the mmr... i hate it. Made it to diamond 3 in Standard and Wild so far but stopped playing some days ago. I was so hyped for the new expansion and the new class, but damn am I sick of it already.
In the old ladder system I was mostly playing between rank 5 and 1 in Standard and Wild with decent win rates. But now? I tracked my stats and you know what? If you combine ALL the games I played since expansion release, in Standard and Wild, you know what you get?
50% win rate. Don't get me wrong, my mmr is pretty high and my opponents rarely to never misplay, but you know what nearly always decides games? Right, the draws. I know Hearthstone is full of RNG, but it never felt THIS awful and annoying. It literally feels like it completely doesn't matter what I'm doing most of the time. 50% of the time opponents draw the complete nuts or get lucky for the win.
This should not be a salt post, I'm just sad that the new ladder system is a failure regarding rewards AND match quality. Well, at least for me.
Honestly I'm pretty happy that I don't have to grind anymore, the tilt levels would be gigantic. I mean, I'd like to hit Legend in Wild once but that can wait...
I've hit legend probably about 6 times now over the last few years mainly in standard but a couple of times in wild too (actually I did wild first).... usually when it is around the holiday period and have more time on my hands.
I was incentivised this month by the new rewards system but was also weary of what the new expansion meta might hold so, given I had a bit of time available I rushed through to legend this month with a resurrection priest deck before the expansion dropped. I literally hit legend about 5 hours before it dropped thankfully! Probably the earliest in the month I've ever achieved it although I have to say I did think the new ranking system felt easier than the old.
The first time rewards motivated me greatly though. Not sure I will be in such a rush again. Diamond 5 seems a reasonable target for general monthly rewards.
hey i hit legend for the first time using my highlander mage deck this week, since 2 years of play. The important thing i learn was, play with the class u Like, i like mage mostly and i have all the mage card, so i build my deck to beat the meta. i know this year of expansion mage is week, but if u study the meta when u play, u can build your deck to counter. examples, now DH is very aggressive, so u need some board clear to survive early and at mid game u can stabilize it. card generation spell or minion also important to play with other control match up like warlock because u know the game will last longer.
Know u deck is better to beat other deck. every card is important in some situation. dont just copy paste tdeck from other then think u can get legend, it is wrong. hope this can help u :)
I got my first ever legend yesterday morning, but it wasn't pretty and flourish at all. First of all I climbed like a madman starting from April 1st and had a shit ton of difficulties in reaching Diamond 10 and Diamond 5 respectively. Then, on the 8th of April, I managed to climb from D5 to D1 and a final boss match for legend and lost it while leaving the opponent on 1HP two times! After that I had an erratic triple of lose streaks (0-7, 0-5 and 0-6) from D1 to a whatever dumpster it was below.
Finally, after being stucked on D2 for the most part of the week, on 13th of April the win streak started and I reached legend on a 14-7 run in two days.
The rules of overcoming the system are pretty simple: be in a good mood, have a desire to play the game, don't tilt too much because it leads to inevitable losses, don't play aggresive and loose when it's better to think about the turns ahead.
I hit legend for the second time this month, the first and only other time I had only happened because I was out of work after I broke all of my ribs in a car crash and found myself with a lot more time on my hands. I typically only hop on to complete quests and usually land somewhere in the rank of 4 to 1. I hit it this month with the same approach with several weeks to spare. If I didn’t enjoy the game, I wouldn’t play it, and there have certainly been months where I’ve logged my five wins and that was it. Know your matchups, know your mulligan strategy, and keep a level head. You’ll get there, champ :^)
You just have to keep grinding and adjust to the meta. I used Tiger TTK to hit Legend this month on April 3rd after getting to Rank 1 with bomb hunter. You have to make smart tech choices against the rank 3-1 meta, and you just have to keep on pushing. I've had seasons where I hit rank 1 5 stars, 3 times in a row and couldn't break through. Hitting Legend this month I was stuck at Rank 1, 3 stars for 6 games. Just keep grinding and if you feel yourself slipping and making misplays take a break for the day.
Still climbing. Was at the crucial match to hit legend when i met a DH who dropped two Priestess of Fury and finished me off, followed by two consecutive egg-warrior that pushed me back to diamond 1 zero stars. But I think the current format is easier to climb since now need 15 wins as compared to 25 wins last time..
Am still trying to hit my first legend by today! All the best to the rest who are still climbing as well!
I'm very frustrating because I everytime when I hit Diamond 1 I start permanently lose streaks to Diamond 4 and this is still around for last 7 days. Everytime when I change deck I play vs anti deck. I can't undestnad this new ladder system.
If I don't hit legend until end of month I uninstall this game for sure cuz it's not possible... Also many my friends got bonus stars in diamond 5 and more so they hit legend more easy. So this system is broken.
True! The fact is that the diamond players often play against legend players!

I've done nothing but lose all day. From D1 to D5. Luck is luck.
Switch deck? Go right to that decks worst matchup. Stay the course with the deck that got you to D1? Play that decks worst matchup all day.
My experience climbing so far?? Bitter taste. I hate life. I hate all Legend players. You have a rabbit foot up your ass and I cant stand you all!
Someone shoot me!!!
I just wanted to get there once - but at a time I had so much succes and fun with that I hit it for the second time aswell.
So the first time it was a grind and the second time it was pure fun!
