I was reading a little of the AMA on reddit and HS_Celestalon replied to decent Paladin related question "Will you support Pure Paladin in the future?"
This was his reply:
The fun thing about Pure Paladin is that all Paladin cards are potential Pure Paladin cards! But really, we've got some balance changes coming soon, not specifically targeted at Paladin, but the meta overall, and the meta will look quite different after that. If any class is left in a bad state after that, we'll continue to adjust.
I highlighted the important part, but this definitely seems like they will do a major adjustment to Bad Luck Albatross and maybe some other cards to allow Highlander and Libram / Pure Paladin to slowly rise.
i used libram pure paladin from rank b10 to dia10 (61% wr in ~40 games) then stopped playing it because every second deck runs Bad Luck Albatross. really looking forward to a nerf...
First of all they specifically mentioned Albatross by name. So it's nothing new. Second of all, this statement literally says nothing. "Meta will be different" - oh well. No shit Sherlock. There's really nothing to discuss here.
And he even specifically said that he doesn't know if there will be any indirect impact to Paladin, but for sure there will be no direct one - so what this thread is about?
Another thing is people who think Paladin is bad currently only due to Albatross are lunatics. No, it's bad, because it's bad. If you simply took Albatross out of the game and left everything else as it is now - Paladin's situation wouldn't change at all.

Third thing is, it doesn't seem like you know how one card shuts down an archetype completely. Have a great day kiddo :)
Priest is still going to have a T1 deck, and Warlock will probably still be near the top. I actually don't think much will change except for DH deck lists changing.
Highlander decks will be better. There are just better Highlander decks than Paladin
I very much doubt they will change the interaction of it putting 2 cards on your deck, albatross is supposed to be a way to slow down highlander decks. I think the lazy nerf blizzard will apply is either lowering its stats or making it like 1 mana more expensive. The only way I could see blizzard nerfing the card so it also doesn't affect Spell only Mage and Pure Paladin it would be if the deathrattle was like add this 2 paladin spells to your deck that are 0 cost do nothings or 1 cost summon a 1/1 bird. That way it keeps the same effect vs Highlander decks and it doesn't affect Spell Mage or Pure Paladin but that is definitely way too convoluted for blizzard to do.

Calling people kiddos, because they disagree with you. Lol, this pretty much shows, who's kiddo here.
Yes, Albatross messes up with pure Paladin. So it does with Mage, Highlander Priest, Highlander DH. But guess what? Those decks are actually played (granted they are not tier 1, but rather tier 2 - once again, not because of Albatross) - opposite to Paladin, which is in a dumpster.
Well with other decks being less powerfull due to nerfs, it's only logical that paladin will rise in power. Changes are really high for the winrate to go up (they could actually go down if a new deck that is a really bad matchup for paladin will take the top spot). Will it be enough for paladin to actually be really good? That remains to be seen.
I still think bad luck albatross will be a counter to pure paladin, I just think we won't run into it as often.
By the way, you can also build paladin as a highlander deck. I've played a dragon highlander deck from diamond 10 to diamond 5 with a very good winrate. It was kinda memey and it wasn't quite strong enough to reach legend , but these kind of decks will most certainly be stronger after the nerfs.
At the end of the day, I think we'll have to wait for another expansion with a couple of good cards to make the pure package and libram package work really well.
Well, I've already seen this suggested elsewhere, sorry. That said, there really needs to be a Highlander disruption card like Albatross. Reducing its stats will make it less likely to be seen; it's too well statted now.

I am scared that priest will be the new top dog, I can think of no experience in hearthstone worse than having to repeatedly play against and lose to rez priest. You have to understand, I have seen coin barnes ysarg so many times in wild that rez vargoth rez vargoth does not even seem unfair.

Yeah, poor Paladin, didn't take over entire meta just because of one tech. https://hsreplay.net/archetypes/338/pure-paladin#tab=matchups / https://hsreplay.net/archetypes/374/libram-paladin#tab=matchups - and loosing to like every playable deck in the meta has nothing to do with it, it's just Albatross.
it's turning into a 3/3, you heard it here first

Dependable loan sharks since 1960. We sink our teeth into every deal we make.
Nerfs will change the meta.
Water is wet.
not with the certainty and confidence I display.
