It didn't offer Brawl or Shadow Word: Ruin because even if it did, you'd still be dead. The only spell that could've kept you alive for one more turn was Frost Nova.
Brawl would keep him alive if either Zephrys the Great or the Big Ol' Whelp survived. Shadow Word: Ruin would leave the 4/2 and 2/1 alive, as well as the reborn 6/1 - but he has a Whirlwind in his hand and 1 mana left over, so he lives in that case too.
Zephrys doesn't know about Whirlwind and Brawl is merely a chance of surviving. Frost Nova guaranteed it.
ok, then he should give you brawl, ruin and frostnova. not this other bullshit
I think it differentiates between options. I am not sure, but I don't recall it ever giving me 3 board clears, which would achieve the same result (you shouldn't get offered both Consecration and Holy Nova on 4 mana vs a board of 2 health minions).
Ruin for sure shouldn't be offered here, because Zephrys, as mentioned, analyses only board and health. From its perspective after playing Ruin the player is dead, hence this option didn't appear and it is correct.
Brawl is a bit more complicated. It technically works, but leaves a chance to be dead. Computer is a machine, machines in general don't like banking on chances. As I said, I don't know how Zephrys is written. But I would assume it won't give you a card that merely gives you a chance to live. It promotes instant solutions - which in this case was Frost Nova.
Now I have a question on a similar matter. I was playing vs Galakrond Warrior, who had Anubisath Warbringer teched. Some kind of budget list I assume. Anyways, it was his only minion on the board, he had 5 cards in hand, I was on 10 mana. Played Zephrys and got offered Tirion, Argus and Natalie Seline. Sure, Natalie worked as a removal, but I was hoping for Hex or Polymorph.
Shouldn't Zeph recognize that the minion I want to destroy has a Deathrattle?
Hi, I had a similar issue using Zephrys. I played Highlander DH against a Tempo DH deck. There was no board and my life total was at 7. I played Zephrys on the open board with 6 mana left. My intention was to get an immediate heal option from him. Instead, I was offered LORD JARAXXUS, a Doomhammer (Opponent at 25 health and I had already a weapon equipped) and Lay on Hands. Unfortunately, I had to play other stuff and lost the following turn. How is it even possible?
The other day my opponent had a big board, so I dropped doomsayer and then zephyrs. I assumed he would give me frost nova since I still had 5 mana left. It didn’t! I think it gave me a couple of other options, none of which completely cleared the opposing board like that would have. Maybe I said my wish out loud so it didn’t come true? Frost nova definitely would’ve won me that game....

I just have a game against a warrior who have a big board destroyed by teron and zephyrs doesn't offer a silence or a transform effect with 4 mana left. With one of these I would have win.
my board was empty beside of Zephyr and ye it dealt with the board making 6/4's into 0/2's but its way off of beeing "the perfect Card". the perfect card here is ruin which clears his board entirely without even letting 0/2 tokens alive and me having a 3/2 on board. There is no way massdispell is the better card in a scenario vs a totem shaman.
Yeah that's clearly a Shadow Word Ruin or Brawl turn. Shadow Word Ruin is probably ideal since you can still play the whirlwind from your hand to clear the owl and not take additional face damage. Definitely suboptimal coding.
It's not a coding bug. It is clearly explained that Zephrys DOES NOT read what cards you have in your hand. The card mechanic is 'Choose one of three cards based on a specific algorithm that looks at the board, hand sizes, health and basic effects of minions on the board'. It's not choose the best possible out of 100+ available cards and based on the full information available to you in the game. That would have been a bit too broken perhaps (and much harder to code)
I didn't call it a bug. I called it suboptimal coding. Those are 2 completely different things. It's been well known for a while that Zeph has been weird this patch, Brawl should have been offered here, end of story.
Frost Nova Guarantees survival and allows an armour up to increase life total its a great option
Soul Cleave has a high chance to clear one of the low health minions and heals for 4 and allows armour up meaning he will survive the remaining board damage next turn and I'm pretty sure zephrys doesn't take hero powers into consideration so he doesn't see the extra damage from MAlfurion. so even if would cleave only hits the owl its still survival based on the board alone.
Earth Elemental doesn't allow him to survive so not sure why its offered here as he just trades in the owl and the 6/6 and then hits for 9 with the remaining minions. Is that quest something other than amaphets core?
Brawl - has an incredibly high chance of losing the game because of the reborn minion but should be offered over earth elemental unless there is something else at work that we cant see
Shadow word Ruin leaves the 6/1 reborn, 2/1 owl and 4/2 stealth on board and zephrys does not read your hand so that's why he didn't offer it here since its a terrible option given the board state.
You didn't lose the game because of Zephrys you lost because you're incredibly unfavoured in this matchup even if zeph had brawled in your favour
