Ever since I hit diamond 5, I haven't been able to win more than two games in a row! I've started to add people to ask what they rank they were, and nearly all of them are players who already hit legend. I get it that blizzard wants it to be more fair for new players to go against opponents their skill level, but its frustrating when I'm trying to hit legend, and I go against players who already accomplished that. Not to mention that they're generally playing decks from the previous expansion (Galakrond Warlock). :(
People at the bottom of legend are not very different from diamond 5 and above in terms of skill. Gala Warlock and Big Druid are two of the most efficient decks right now so if you can't beat them, join them.
Everyone started at bronze 10, do you really think those who reached legend play on a different MMR than you? They have access to the same cards as you do. There are stronger players on high ranks that's all it is. You felt you were good because of those star bonuses, you weren't. Anyone with enough star bonus can reach Diamond with a negative winrate. What a dummy.

Big talk from someone who doesn't understand the game. Once you reach a certain skill level, it doesn't matter how good you are, just what cards you run. How do you know what cards I have? You assume everyone has the same collection. I can't spend hundreds of dollars on virtual cards. Maybe you can, and that's why you think you think you can talk trash. Star bonuses don't have to do with shit, cause it's meant to help higher rank players go through the ranks faster. Mine ran out at plat 10, so I guess my negative win rate got me all the way to diamond 5. Maybe I should ask advice from you so I can gEt GoOd.
There’s plenty of decks that are low cost and top tier, that’s not the reason. Hell DH is almost free.
No one runs those decks in the higher ranks. DH is an exception, but there is no other budget deck that can win consistently against Galakrond Rogue/Warlock.
I also hit a wall after Diamond 5. I just assumed that's just my skill level and the limit of my non-meta deck (i literallly met 0 people playing my type of deck from the bottom of rankings). But if it's true that you play against legends even as a diamond 5, that's really bullshit. What's the point of these stars then?

If that’s your opinion then play DH if legend is your goal, it’s not difficult.
You’re wrong though and there is Big Druid which is almost the same from last expac with a few low cost additions as well as spell Druid which is also cheap. Cost isn’t the reason you’re not legend.
Maybe you just aren’t a legend caliber player at the moment. Small nuances to gameplay separate those at higher levels, not the cards.
I've been playing the game since the release of Witchwood. I've also been watching streamers for a while. I appreciate that you don't just straight up call me garbage, but I do think I have a pretty good understanding of what kind of plays I should be making.

It’s based on MMR, not stars.
Playing against legend players at high ranks is likely to your benefit as they’ll likely be playing random fun decks rather than try harding. I’ve been playing paladin variants with a negative w/l ratio at legend trying to get it refined.
I'm also having major issues with it. Only made legend once before but have been playing since June of 2016, a massive number of my opponents either have legendary card backs or very old monthly cardbacks. I'm currently at Diamond 10 and this is both brutal and punishing.

They're meant to help grind less when the season restarts, but you will be playing players that the game determines are "your level". When those star bonuses run out, your supposed to against players of your rank, but were getting matched against legend players for some reason.
But how stars are different from MMR? If you win, you get a star. If you win, your MMR should be higher. Are you saying one win is not equal to another? And is that why they are hiding your opponent's rank?
Same here, been bouncing D 3-5 for a long time, although can’t complain, since I’m mostly playing spell mage, which is a very inconsistent deck.
To those suggesting switching to Face Hunter/Demon Hunter/Big Druid: personally, I don’t enjoy playing these classes at all. DH is better, but there are too many of them and they are OP, so it just feels bad (I played 8 matches and lost 2 of them - to other DH :)) An important element of game is fun, it’s much more important to enjoy the game (which is, however, difficult uf you keep losing) than achieve legend, imho

Legend players are often easier. They already got to legend and are more willing to screw around with silly builds.
If silly builds include Highlander Mage, Big Druid, and Galakrond Rogue, than yeah, I guess they're pretty silly.
I didn't say all of them. Just some of them.
Hey, I'm running around Legend playing a silly Quest Druid deck with Nomi, so... Yeah, some of us are.

Get good. Whining won't get you to legend.

Try Face Hunter, it's ez af.
