I don't see any problem in being matched against legend players. I'm currently in legend, somewhere around 13k-14K :D I'm playing a really a fat druid so basically many players can have an easy win. I'm usually matched with plat players or diamond players.

Very easy to reach legend with the new system, also many people farmed DH to legend this time Kapp.
As other people have suggested I’d say this is a good thing for you! Similarly now I’m legend I’m just messing around with fun decks in ranked so it still counts towards the portrait and regularly play against other diamond players at 11k. You’re more likely to get an easy game.
You always had it, it was what determined what rank you would get in Legend when you first entered. Look up Chess, Tennis, Starcraft 2 and even battlegrounds rankings.
You will be matched based on MMR ONLY until you are out of bonus stars. Then you will be matched based on rank. Legend were always matched based on MMR. There is a video of a legend player dropping enough games to be matched vs a rank 25 in the old system.
In Starcraft 2, the MMR was hidden for a long time, but they eventually made it available, and it is now how skill is determined in the game much more than league rank. Hearthstone might move in that direction too eventually, espeically as the MMR of battleground is very much available.
Think of it as religion - just believe in it, despite the fact that it doesn't seem to make sense and you can't see any proof of it.
I myself got matched up against 2 1000 win portrait hunters in the span of 3 matches on a relative's account that had almost no DoD cards, no Awakening cards, and almost never has even reached rank 20 in the 6 or so years it has existed. This week's TB got that account it's 1000th win ever, total, in any mode. Does this seem like a working MMR? Not really, but yea, we see thru the glass darkly - pray unto Yogg, and have faith, for the word is true, and you are being matched perfectly, according to his plan.
I am platinum 3 and got matched with legend? I was not even having a winning streak or something and I am not playing tier 1 decks. WTF is this?
This also happened to me I am diamond 5 and I was matched against legend players, blizzard just can't do anything right.
I think many left the game already after recent nerfs / hitting legend. Spamming into rez priest is not really positive play experience either,
Because you have the same mmr as them. You need to be a genius to understand this.
Legend players usualy play more fun decks
same mmr

I reached legend playing big druid and galakrond warrior and it was right before the AoO.
