for Combo the hardest blow is the nerf on the weapon; Skull at 6 mana is still strong and anyway it was usually discounted to zero mana thanks to the Sunstrider. Another bad thing ( and weird ), when you draw the discounted ( thanks to Skull ) Eye beam lazor and it happens to be "outcasted", his mana cost is not zero anymore but 1 mana. Sucks hard.
Didn't know about that Eye Beam interaction, hasn't happened to me yet. So basically, if drawn from Skull, it would cost 0 if played "normally" and 1 if it's in Outcast? Lol that makes no sense, hopefully they'll fix that.
And yeah the weapon nerf is probably harder I agree.
Yes, that is how it works now. That's why OTK DH has a much much more harder time now.
I don't know why Blizzard's way of nerfing cards is always increasing the manacost by 1. Either that makes the card unplayable or it doesn't change at all the broken aspect of it.
Like OP and many others here said, Skull at 6 feels too clunky and slow. The broken aspect of the card is that it reduces the cost by 3 (THREE!). It should reduce the cost by 2, or the alternative is to make the card a Legendary, as it should be from the lore.
Another one is Antaen; The broken aspect of the card is that it awakens and dissimates 10 fucking damage, while still threatening 10 damage the next turn if you don't deal with it. It devastates the opponent's board while summoning a minion that can remove a third of their HP. Why not make it an 8/6 that awakens dealing 8 damage? That way it's not too overwhelming in neither of the two aspects.
I agree with the other nerfs though, although Eye Beam should be written to "Outcast: this costs (2) less.", so it doesn't have counter synergy when drawn by Skull and being in Outcast. Like, how can a casual player like me be able to realize that awful interaction and come up with a solution to it, but balancing developers from a multi-billionaire company are not? It just blows my mind.
Nerf on the weapon is the largest , it's Basic set so will be around the longest.
But the weapon at 2/3 was very good so things like Blur + Warglaives might have been played a lot less as a result.
Skull nerf will slow down the card draw for sure, I think the cost reduce should've been -2 instead of increasing the spell to 6.
Also depends on what DH deck is played, with some bad luck, you get a big card in your left outcast spot, basicly then you hope you don't draw skull until turn 6.
Eye Beam nerf I think is fair still, also is the card that will Rotate the fastest (1 year due to Initiate counting as Year of the Dragon)
I hate the speed of it, but whatever. It stupid to bitch about a Winrate of a (new) class being too high during the first 72 hours when obviously most people are going to play it because its new.

In a mirror match, the class has a 100% winrate.
That is not how it's calculated. In a mirror, its win rate is always 50%. One demon hunter will always loose and the other will always win. When mirrors are heavy it pulls the win rate closer to 50% either lowering it if higher or raising it if lower.

Day 2 and the Outcast mechanic is already something decks are trying to avoid proccing because of Skull/Eye Beam interaction. I wonder if they intend for Outcast to be a negative effect on some cards, they could make it a powerful card, but the outcast makes it bad to play after a topdeck, or if you hold onto it too long.

It's quite obvious that the interaction between skull and eye beam is an unintended consequence of the nerf and the way the cost is calculated in game (which cost modification takes precedence). That said, there could be room in the design space for Blizzard to print DH cards where outcast is a drawback. I just don't think they will.
I am not happy at all, it's just a drop of water on the burning pile. I will be playing this game only to complete daily quests and no more, unless they will bring Demon hunter class in order so I can try out other new cards in "balance".
I have never hit legend before and today i went from bronze to legend for the first time within 24 hours. This class is insanely broken even after the nerf, I have not lost a game to any class other than priest and Demon Hunter.
Since I've already hit Legend, Blizzard can nerf as much as they want now.
what about highlander, please? I have just returned to the game, and just playing through the quests to unlock the class now.
I was going to wait a bit and see what nerfs came down, but might actually be ok to craft a few cards for a deck now.
Did the nerfs mainly hit the combo deck then, or did highlander get hurt too?
Highlander wasn't really a thing tbh... I tried some lists I found, and with good results too, but the truth is... most DH cards are just too good not to run them 2x. Besides what would be the incentive to play highlander? Just Alexstrasza basically... Also the combo deck has so much draw power that it can run Zephrys and consistently activate him lol.
As for your other question, the pure combo deck definitely seems less solid to me, while the midrange one doesn't feel much different. I may have been too hasty in judging hybrid ones tho, a friend of mine swears they work. The swarm face one is just not good imho, regardless of the nerfs. Any 2 damage aoe at the right time is instaconcede.

I've seen highlander DH and it seems to be very good. does have a few of the nerfed cards though. the card that gives you a free spell wins games as well.
I see your point about running 2 of cards over 1, but the list is definitely a thing. ha ha.
Holy f*ck people. They nerfed it day TWO and youre still complaining? Where the f*ck did all these entitled idiots come from. New generation of undisciplined kids i guess. Sheesh

I agree. The nerfs were absolutely premature, despite 99% of the people on this site thinking otherwise. Playing several variants of DH decks today against multiple classes, people finally trying the new cards... it's pretty obvious that there are some very bad matchups - that would have been bad even pre-nerf. Combo DH vs both the new Spell/token/ramp Druid and Embiggen Druid is literally impossible. And I think Midrange DH doesn't do that well against them either. Priest with new cards like Apotheosis and Renew on top of Penance and the other insane heals he already had, you either have the perfect draw into full 26 dmg combo or you can concede pretty quickly.
Swarm DH just lose the game on the spot to any 2 dmg aoe, it's an okay aggro deck but nothing more, certainly not nearly as good as Mech Pala from the previous meta, which had the ability to create a big minion with magnetic (not to mention Reborn) and laugh at your aoes. And hey, I don't like these kind of decks either, but come on. 2 days?

Played some games today with my same deck as yesterday. You can still meme with skull of guldan and get ez wins.
It's a very good start. I am sure we will see some more and fast!

Antaen is still playable.

There should be dust compensation for those of us who crafted the two legendaries for the deck.
