Pretty sure this is only a little whim of mine and nothing worth concerning about but well.. since the introduction of DH I can’t help but think why the choice of a different hero power cost compared to other heroes. I read the articles related to the DH design and class identity and I do understand that they thought this +1 attack would have portrayed better the class archetypes but to be honest I personally disagree as even a 2 mana ( +2 attack ) would have been more than fine and would help maintain the ethic principle based on a 2 mana HP with the other pre-existing classes which has been so for many years now.
At this point one could think “ ok , since hero powers can be a flexible object to achieve better class identity let’s just overhaul all classes and let’s whip up and adjust what has been never touched as being part of game basic designs.”
Ty for reply that was a very exhaustive developers walkthrough. Nonetheless I would have liked the +1Attack split windfury at 2 mana or + 2Attack and take two damage option..
Even something like “ 2 mana, +1Attack with lifesteal “ ( Lifesteal not stackable with weapon’s or Hero Attack)
For the the simple 1 mana +1Attack was a easy way out..
I admit it feels a bit weird to have a default hero power at 1 mana for one class only. Not only that, Demon Hunter will also have the only cards in the entire Basic (and Classic) set to feature new keywords like Rush (Coordinated Strike) and Lifesteal (Aldrachi Warblades).
I guess that's the result of the new design team having less of an interest in consistency, or not feeling bound to traditions that have been established. It will probably take me some time to get used to it, but I can get behind the idea. They might actually want Demon Hunter to behave a little differently and break with tradition, not just to bring something new to the table, but also because aggressively rejecting conformity and tradition is such a big part of Illidan's and Demon Hunter's identity.
And maybe it will indeed lead to some more changes in the future for the other classes. I can imagine that some Warrior Basic will eventually feature the Rush keyword as well. Maybe there's some hope that Charge or Warsong Commander get restored to an earlier version and rotated.
What bothers me more, is that Druid's hero power feels like a total joke by comparison now. +1 Armor for +1 Mana is ridiculous, and Druid's hero power was already arguably worse than both Mage and Rogue. But unlike Demon Hunter, Druid has and gets no weapons (aside from Twig of the World Tree). And unlike any other class, Druid barely gets any cards or mechanics that support the hero power. For the attack part, there's the completely worthless Savagery, picked up in Rastakhan by the still terrible Savage Striker, and as thematical support some equally useless cards like Bite or Gnash. The armor aspect was completely irrelevant until K&C came out, and has not been continued much since.
Druid's hero power always felt a bit off. But now, Demon Hunter's hero power is essentially the same, only cheaper, and supported with weapons, attack buffs, attack triggers and more. I guess Druid gets some other unique things in return, like Choose One cards and Mana generation, but as far as class identity is concerned, it feels like Druid's hero power wasn't really thought through. These days, It's just there, and otherwise irrelevant.

Hope I’m rendering the idea..
This should be interesting for you:
They tried many different Hp like 2 mana +1 attack, can be used twice each turn or 2 mana +1 attack gain +1 wrath (new DH exclusive resource)
