"And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it."
I don't know which side is right or wrong here (didn't took the time to read all the posts), neither I care to be honest, but dude, you should stop quoting Morpheus, that's not going to help you to win this internet fight, but quite the opposite. :P
just in case it really is mostly based on your best performances over some time or peak mmr - you could try to tank your presumed skill al you wish. it wouldn't do jack shit or the system recognizes a very unusual pattern (that's why there's a threshold implemented). basically it won't change much of anything at all. but nice try, i guess
That's not needed for raising your win rate. You miss that.
You miss that Legend MMR and account MMR are 2 different things dude. Your entire argument is based on them being the same, but they aren’t. Let’s look at the pros and cons of the new system.
pros: -Fast progression and MMR based matchmaking with bonus stars. This keeps pros and higher tier players from facing newer or less experienced players. This also encourages people to come back each month to easily get where they are supposed to be on the ladder. This is good for the game. -Separating experienced and inexperienced players let’s lower tier people make gradual progression and get better with time, earning a better star bonus every month, rather than getting beat down by net deckers who are too lazy to grind. -More rewards. This isn’t counting one off rewards for each rank. Before you just got a gold epic and gold rare. Usually 500 dust. Now getting to diamond 5 nets you 4 card packs, 7 rare cards, and an epic card. Even if all you’re card packs have just 4 commons and a rare you’re still getting more dust, but you have the possibility of getting more, especially with the pack changes. This is good for the game
cons: -Hypothetically if enough people somehow coordinated into making some kind of lame concede meta people could farm stars while in a vegetative state...
wow you’re right let’s scrap the whole thing, this is unacceptable...seriously dude you put so much thought into finding something wrong with this system that you didn’t even think hard enough about the flaw you came up with. You said earlier streamers would get on board. You’re wrong, no one is gonna watch a stream of conceding. People like watching the streamers rise through the ranks. The streamers know this and they won’t get behind it. No one will get behind it. It’s a dumb idea that requires too many people knowing what to do in order for it to be impactful at all.
do yourself a favor, stop overthinking, stop over analyzing, and start just playing the game. And for the love of god stop trying to be edgy with those “deep” quotes. They don’t make you look cool or smart, they make you and your argument very cringy.
Leagues might as well be useless if a bronze is put agaisn't a diamond or legend or platinum. There should be a limit of how far the leagues are paired up agaisn't each other.
The point of the leagues aren't really to rank for matchmaking. It's more of a progression system. Especially since it works with landmarks that keep you from backsliding too much if you get a loss streak.
I have to say, the climb up has felt WAY more satisfying for me than it ever did before the revision. That's partly because of the cool rewards, (basically grabbing all of the classic set rares I'm missing) and partly because there's just more of a feeling of accomplishment.
More and more players are going to adopt the fast decks combined with concede gameplay (which is the most adequate way for people valuing their time) which in turn may lead to whole groups of players adopting the "co-op" mechanic when with the bonus pool (first to play instantly concedes). The "co-op" mechanic would be the fastest way to progress through the bonus stage if adopted by all players. It would literally mean that all players with a 9+ star bonus would be Diamond 5 only after an hour from the start of each Season. And this in turn would lead to a lot more non-D5 players aiming for D5 to achieve a 9 star bonus and join the "co-oping", which eventually would snowball and lead to everyone becoming D5.
The above of course would happen if the players realize the "co-op" potential. It would be a very interesting year for sure. I am extremely eager to find out how this social experiment goes.
You've made this same stupid argument in countless threads and it's not going to happen. People aren't going to just throw games, you don't understand human psychology if you think that will happen. Especially because you can't see the rank of the opponent, people are even less likely to try and 'help' other players out. That aside, you're strategy isn't even necessary because you can play meme decks all the way to Rank 5, because of the Star Bonus.
I honestly don't know what's with the arguments going on right now. all I know is that I was facing diamond players, decided to lose a bunch of games, and now I'm facing silvers. That's what I recommend to others facing similar frustrations, and that's my experience.
Good day to everyone else.
man do you know, that even if you are in bronze your average skill level is much higher so the system matches you with equal oponents, right? or you just want to boost your ego and wreck some low level players who just entered the game..., so you can farm easily wins..., nope this system is great, much better than it was before and the fact that you can´t see the rank during the match is perfect, it removes the tension you have, because you see the oponents rank, it´s just your fault that you add them to see their level, YOUR FAULT, you are making yourself salty, your decisions..., and as you are saying, you are facing silvers now, so the systems works and it adds you to the right rank, maybe the system at start just put all of players equally, so thats why you could face higher ranks, but let the system do its job and be salty after month or so..., not now at the beginning... peace
If you're playing Ranked for fun or intrigue then you're already doing Hearthstone wrong.
This is the saddest statement I've read for a long time...
Sure, playing a cardgame in your free time can't honestly meant to be fun. Playing HS with grimness and ill ambition will surely make people grow up and save society! 😉
MMR based, so people stop farming low ranks, like you used to do to feel better.
It does bring situations we are not used to, like legend vs rank 10 bronze here
That's a similarly ranked former legend based opponent who's just started to climb
New system is excellent. Gained legend for first time last season and just hit rank 5 diamond in no time so can enjoy trying out some fun expansion decks without any worry.
My argument is pretty clear and if you don't understand that you'll face easier opponents when losing MMR you are just brainstorming things in your posts.
Not until they understand this would be the fastest way to climb while on the bonus. It'll take time for sure, but I expect with each Season more and more people to make concede part of their climbing routine. And from there the natural continuation is the "co-op" scenario. We'll see, I am excited too about what this new ranking system will review about HS players psychology.
Haven't read much except the first few posts, but honestly seems fine. Hell, for the first time in months I'm actually considering another crack at a good ranking as opposed to just wading at the bottom end playing janky fun stuff for dailies (though I'm personally waiting for Ashes, as I'd love to do it post rotation and potentially with a DH or anti-DH build depending on how I'm feeling).

Janky fun is probably fine to do after you've exhausted your bonus stars, or in the narrow window between tryhards falling out of the bonus stars and other jank players falling out. The usual 'Wait a few weeks and then play fun jank' probably won't work, based on blizz' description. It's good for those who like grinding the ladder, not so good for those seeing how far they can get with a jank deck. Is that a problem? Depends on your viewpoint.
Also not convinced MMR is initialized right, which is a pain in the backside for me :P
Just what we needed - another Blizzard ranking system where people get to moan about MMR..
...and boy do they complain about MMR once they know it's in place. It's the KING of excuses.
The amount of idiots I've had to put up with over the years going on and on about "MMR hell" in Blizzard games. I nod along, the whole time thinking...yeah you just suck, you are protecting your ego but probably too stupid to even realise that is what you doing. *sigh* Being smarter than average is a trial sometimes.

You. Can’t. Tank. Your. MMR. Blizzard has stated this, so unless you somehow magically understand the system, that blizzard keeps very secret from everyone, better than blizzard themself you’re just talking out your ass...
Dude no one is gonna play your concede meta. People don’t queue in to just concede they come to play. Given the bonus system makes climbing so fast and win streaks speed that up trying to get this concede meta crap to stick is totally pointless.
Apart from this MMR debate - been playing for 5 days now and this is brutal. I have always fairly easily reached rank 5 previously and thought I would try to make legend for the classic legendary this season.
Raced up to gold 5 easily and thought this was great at first. Now stuck at Platinum 5 which already feels like the previous rank 5 to legend grind (ie one win, one loss and getting nowhere). This could be due to this meta not being for me, or just not being great at any of the current top decks but as I’ve said I’ve never really had issues hitting 5 before (have hit legendary on one occasion).
Not sure if I will continue playing ranked further as this has been an incredibly frustrating and boring experience pretty much as soon as I hit Platinum 5 and lost my stars. Frankly I think this new system is a steaming pile of dog shit.

So, the goal is to tank your MMR so you can play against bad players...
Maybe if you fake a head injury, you could do well in the special Olympics too!! Maybe take gold, and feel like a champ!!!
