So who can't wait for the meta to shift? From deathrattle hunter to mechrattle hunter... -_- Am I the only one that feels blizzard needs to nerf hunters so the meta might actually move away from Hunters? The new GvG cards for hunters are pretty decent. For sure the best Legendary in the set and with cards like feign death, they are going to be a terror... :/
They gave us some nice cards to deal with hunter so we will see if the hunter manage to survive. Also most cool hunter cards are for control so it supports different playstyle which is good.
As for a legendary, not even close to being the best, warrior and priest legendaries beat Gahr'zilla without any question. I also prefer druid and warlock legendaries over this one - that is arguable but i think they will work better than big scary hydra.
How did you not even mention the best legendary in the set? The rogue legendary is gonna be a pretty-much auto-win card if you ever manage to cast in on an even board. 5/8 for 6, plus one-way lorewalker action??? Yes Please!
On-topic: For sooooo long now, this game has missed an entire archetype of the common CCG, midrange. For the past year, Hearthstone has been purely Aggro Vs Control, with the rare combo deck here and there. Finally we're going to see the holy trinity of card games in action. [Control beats Midrange beats Aggro beats Control] instead of control and aggro just ramming heads again and again. That's what makes me most excited about the new post GvG meta.
The December meta may be random with all the new cards, but my prediction for January meta:
1) Hunter 2) Warlock 3) Priest 4) Warrior
The current strong classes all got buffed without losing a thing. Middle and lower tier classes did not get anything that is going to shift the balance of power.
The real question is how high will Priest go, since they now have answers to pretty much everything.
I agree that priests are going to be supreme, but I was thinking the meta was gonna be like this:
1) Priest 2) Hunter 3)Mage
Why is it that after the debacle of the mage legendary, they all forget that mages got one of the best cards in the entire expansion!? (Unstable Portal)
The more skeptical may not buy into it immediately, but once they see it pulling great cards, and getting full Ramp value in the majority of games, every mage deck is gonna be running 2 of them.
Every time they try to nerf hunters...they just keep coming back stronger and stronger.
How about they just leave them alone for once and the meta take its natural course. And people sure do love bitching about them but even now, some classes like Priests shut them down HARD, and they're not going to magically get ten times better after these cards drop.
Like, just FYI, a hunter deck that tries to still be fast aggro with deathrattles isn't gonna have room for their "best" legendary (it's not btw), or almost any of its good higher drops. (Even in this meta, a lot of aggro hunter decks are cutting at least one highmane, and that's the highest value card in the game, just to keep their curve low). And a deck that tries to mix deathrattles and mechs isn't going to have room much for beast synergy for kill command, and these fast paced decks aren't going to be running cards like the one that changes your hero power because 1. they won't have room. 2. that's a control card, most of the time they want to hit face every turn, that's their gimmick.
Like just about every pro player has said in one way or another; the problem in the current meta isn't hunters...it's undertaker/fast deathrattle. Hunter's can just take advantage of those cards better than most classes.
now Control hunter could become a powerful new meta type in the future, but it won't be the same kind of hunter people complaining about now, (although I'm sure they'll still complain anyway).

The prince will be my chase legendary and the first card to craft for sure. I wouldn't say it's an auto-win but at least it shall be almost 1 for 2 every time you play. I find that many folks have trouble understanding the real effect of it, as well as not paying enough attention to its excellent body at its cost, and doubting its usefulness because it doesn't fit current rogue archetypes without realizing the fact that the meta is not going to stay the same.
IMO the meta on ladder will still be mechaggro based during the first several weeks simply because most of the players won't get full tools for midrange/control that fast. In casual, I suspect there'll be a lot of players trying combo, fun and never-existed-before decks such as combomech rogues utilizing Mimiron's Head, murman and demonlock. With this many new cards to impact the meta, the only thing for sure is that the meta will not settle in a short time.
hunters, priests and warlocks will have the spotlight for this month, but the I believe that the strongest class for january will be warrior, Bouncing Blade is incredibly nuts, priests and maybe rogues right behind, and shamans will be the worst one, the remaining classes will be very strong, but not preferred by most players
Hunter as a class is not the problem, it was that they could abuse 2 cards that created huge tempo swings...Undertaker and Mad Scientist. Coupled with that is there class pretty much being focused on more aggression due to their burst they have. But to get to the purpose of this thread. The meta is gonna slow down, allowing more midrange, control and slower aggro decks to shine. And like any TCG you will see an all out aggro deck, maybe a shaman murlock or an updated Undertaker Hunter. If these decks are in abundance Blizzard gave us a ton of options to tech our decks for the meta against deathrattle and aggro. I am excited about this expansion and hope that there is a lot of creativity from the community and viability for a good bit of decks.

Interesting thought. I have been ranking Mage as dead last (and I had high hopes for Mage). But I dont think they got enough.
Would be great to see more mage on ladder, but I think the strongest thing they have going for them now are Secrets synergy, and that isnt going to develop any further at the moment. Maybe mechs, maybe Portal. Dunno.
Personally I consider priest/warrior to become the overall strongest after GvsG, mainly due to the fact that they are so strong versus hunter/Zoo.
Favouring control paladin myself, I feel that paladin got very few cards that at least boosts the deck I'm currently using. Aggro paladin will still loose to the better aggro/face classes.
i think the best part about this expansion is that they have added plenty of cards to make different archtypes viable, so you can pretty much make any type of deck with any class now, it will be more like old days when people won't know what to expect!

Check out my decks & feel free to make suggestions!
The meta will be confusion at the beginning. Every streamer started to rate the cards and I have seen quite different opinions. What will happen is that people will start copying decks again and most people will play what they see on their favourite streamer and they also netdeck from sites like this. The only problem will be that many will not have the cards and they will look for a replacement or try to stick to old decks.
It will take a while to settle the meta and I'm pretty sure there will be new good ideas and the decks will evolve.

The new meta will be Undertaker and a core of cheap deathrattle minions. Oh, wait...
