I like Amet, but I only kept him because he was useful and a possible nerf. With the priest rework he won't be nerfed anytime soon, and without support he'll be useless this year.
So first option: Adiós golden Amet.
Option #2 is to disenchant 2-3 legendaries plus some cards from other rarities. I'd dust Face Collector, Deathwing (classic) and maybe Bandersmosh. I don't care about DW, but I'm kinda attached to FC, and I see some wildcard potential in Bandersmosh.
As I said, I'd also have to dust some cards from other rarities and from last year (I don't have any 2018 cards left).
So yeah. What do you guys think? Golden Amet or the other cards?
It seems worse to me the idea of disenchanting multiple legendaries only to get a small value back (not really) from the HoF. Dusting the golden Amet it’s better indeed. Do it.
When I started playing hearthstone I dusted my naxrammus and gvg set when they were first rotated out because I said: "I'm never going to play Wild." I have regretted that decision for a long time. When Wotog came out I said, "After this set rotates I'm only playing Wild." Then Kotft was revealed, and I said: "After THIS set rotates out, I'm playing only wild." I've stopped saying that since then, and I've stopped dusting cards that I "Might" play in the future. I have all of the old gods gilded, and still, occasionally play a wild game with C'thun or Shudderwok shaman. With that said, I personally wouldn't dust it. How I decide if I'm going to dust a card "Is it the worst card in the set." "Is it a golden epic that is niche at best." You know, those kinds of questions. If I have even the slightest chance that I'll use that card again, I don't dust it. But that's just my opinion.

Tbh I have a lot of useless legendaries that I don't want to dust because nostalgia or because I want to make a crazy deck with them. Cards like Gonk or Flark's Boomzoka. The fact that they are weird and technically useless makes me want to see them work.
So yeah, I totally understand this 'defensive' mentality.
I guess I'll be doing some math and see if I don't have to sacrifice too much to get the dust. I'll also wait to see if the reveals give indications of Amet becoming useful.
You would be mad to dust Amet if you want to play any Priest. He is such a versatile, you can play him in any deck; probably the best Priest legendary after Anduin and Duskbreaker.
Don't dust these legendaries, especially Amet (very strong and versatile card, sees plays even in wild mode). Just craft regular Velen. You can try to disenchant some commons and rares from classic set - with duplicate protection you will get them in no time! xD

Really? I thought he only fitted on inner fire decks.

Regular Velen bad. Me want free dust. Disenchant stuff. Profit.
On classic cards, it wouldn't be in 'no time' since I only get those from tavern brawl and I would be getting all the useless cards I don't have. Still, I didn't check my classic cards so might as well take a look.

People played him (you can still play him but Galakrond package is better) in Rez Priest because he is really good with reborn minions like Khartut and Bone Wraith. Zetalot plays him in Highlander Priest, where he synergies with most minions early game or late. He can turn a 2 drop late game into a 4 drop, make deathrattle/reborn minions super annoying and sticky and early game he snowballs super hard especially against decks that don't run lot of removal and are board focused.
He is universally good, basically Priest's Edwin, and I think it is pretty clear that anyone that wants to play Rogue needs to have Edwin.
Seems time consuming, but I actually went to disenchant some duplicates and realized how many crappy commons/rares/epics are, not only in the sets rotating but in the Year of the Dragon too.
So instead of the legendaries and Amet, start there. Before dusting, make some calculations first on how much dust you can get, specially from bad cards. You'll very likely get it without even trying too much (depending on your collection).
Then later when you need it or when Amet rotates, you can dust him.
Out of desperation, dust Amet. You'll get 3200 back anyway, and a profit of 1600. If Amet turns meta and you want to play Priest, you can craft it back anyways. The profit matters more.
Thought nobody would reply after my last post here, lol.
So in the end I 'purged' my collection to make Velen, but then decided to disenchant Amet and other goldens I was keeping to craft the remaining cards. Seemed like a better profit than waiting for a possible nerf.

Ohh I see. Guess I'll craft him back if Priest gets an interesting deck.

Did the latter to craft all the HoF cards. Too bad I didn't read your message before purging my collection haha.
Thanks for the responses! I'll be seeing you guys on the new expansion.

Wise decision because it doesn't look like Priest is getting an interesting deck anytime soon, we will probably be playing the same old rez deck with new legendary spell instead of Cloning Gallery.
Why dust Amet, which is one of the cards remaining after rotation on April ?
If you are purely a Standart player, I would first recommend dusting all the cards from the rotating Sets.
And I hope you crafted golden Velen, while not having a regular one in your collection already, as there are no benefits to be gained crafting golden copies if you already have regular copies, you would still get the same amount Dust during HoF payout.
I need 1600 dust for a golden Velen (HoF).

I would dust Amet .. since combo priest wont be a thing anymore i doubt this card will see play
yes dust him. If Amet gets played later you can craft him again by the hall of fame dust.

It seems that Blizzard is trying to push some sort of midrage Priest, and I think Amet will be a part of that deck.
One card was revealed that hints at a zoo priest (the 2/3) so maybe wait for a couple more reveals to guess at whether he may be useful.

If I were you I would just craft normal Velen.
Thanks for the replies!
Normal Velen gets me 400 free dust while his golden version gives 1600.
I suppose I'll be doing that.

Dust a legendary to craft something you'll play more is always worth

I hope they take priest on a different direction. I'm not the biggest fan of rez priest.

I'm not dumb enough to do that xD, though I was tempted to craft a golden leeroy instead.
